Yeah but ted Bundy was described as handsome and attractive. CB is described as having greasy hair, acne, nicotine stained teeth and regularly slept out of a campervan. I imagine he cant have been too hygienic either so I just can’t work out how he was so appealing, he said to his friend he loved living in Portugal cause he was so popular with women.

Seemed to have a good few girlfriends, there is hope for us all!

she must have been in a pretty easy to find room as she mentions the kids would come knocking on her door.

she also mentioned the attacker's shoes were left outside on the balcony. although CB has bragged about climbing to first floor windows.
her comment about wet footprints makes me think there was grass close by. which narrows it down, as most of that complex is concrete.

he could of sprayed his shoes with a disinfectant maybe?

Maybe the symbols on the left of the text would be easier to decipher but I ain't savvy with foreign road signs.

Do we know whether this is in Portugal? Sorry can't read the sign. In the top right corner of the photo are a pair of distinctive grey towers.

Perhaps they're cranes. Some palm trees and higher buildings, too. I'm assuming it's Portimão, which is near PDL and has a port.

Yeah I read the same too. I was confused cause it’s such a disparity from him being homeless and living in a campervan etc. Maybe it all went to Sh * t when he got sent to prison for the diesal fuel? I’m guessing he lost his rented accommodation in that time and then after that he was living all over the shop, I read he would do jobs for people in exchange for showers too.

I can't read the signs but it looks like some kind of industrial area - maybe the signs aren't place names as such - is it a port? They could be container cranes, there's a few lorries around.

We need to consider that reports of CB cover a long timespan.

MT quote in the Olive Press article about CB in 2006:

“He was always very smart and snappy in the way he dressed. He always had good shoes and sometimes even wore a suit to go out."

I've wondered a similar thing about everything hitting rock bottom for him in 2007. The loot he had stashed had been stolen. His friends had turned on him. He had no home. No girlfriend. He was living wild, on drugs, with no money and no prospects on the horizon.

There's any number of possibilities of what came next but each of them makes more sense if you factor in a desperation aspect to his situation.

One bit that has got me thinking is this phone call about the 'horrible job' in PDL that will change his life. My previous thought was that the abduction was for his own gratification but if this phonecall is true, it sounds more like something else, which ties in more with his situation. A paid gig. Him being a low-level dispensable "snatcher" for a much bigger outfit. His later comments about her being "dead and that's a good thing" perhaps a reference to what her life would have consisted of otherwise.

2018: He is released in August, but is homeless. Police monitor him but then German authorities have him arrested in Milan in September after he flees to Italy. He is jailed for drug offences. He is then jailed for rape.

2019: He is hit with another prison sentence for violation of the Narcotics Act and then charged with the 2005 rape of the 72-year-old American in Praia da Luz. Now 43, he is jailed for seven years.

2020: While in prison he is hit with another jail sentence for drug offences.

Well spotted, I’m wondering where Mendel found this photo? Could it be that police have secretly leaked this photo to the press as they want the woman in the photo to be recognised & people to come forward identifying her? Could this be Nicole, “Julia” or one of CBs other friends or associates? All just my own thoughts.

This Sunday Times reporter travelled to Braunschweig and spoke to the prosecutor. He said the Germans have identified break-ins committed by CB in PdL and Lagos leading up to MM.

He also said their “working theory” is a tip off from an OC staff member or ex staff member to CB. I can’t tell if German LE directly told him that part or he’s making some assumptions.

This is the sort of thing that deepens my cynicism.

The germans haven't identified anything because this theory has been around for years!

Even given CB was a burglar and a serial sex offender, we still seem to be nowhere on a direct connection to the crime.

There had been reports that "older ladies" had paid CB for sex, that suggests he worked as a Gigolo too.

Not all women are manipulated by psychopaths, usually they are the ones who have clear personal boundaries themselves.
Perhaps the ladies who were raped paid no attention to his 'charm' and were dismissive of him - the lack of attention and rejection would have made him feel humiliated and would have angered him. imo

It's very common for his type of profile (from what we have seen on CB) is to have had a punitive Mother and permissive, submissive Father, but that of course is just speculation atm.

Yes. In 1992 CB's adoptive father sadly lost the ability to discipline him. Link to follow.
