What the manifest does say is that NNR Global shipped 133 pieces of one item weighing 1.99 tonnes and 67 pieces of another item weighing 463kg for a total 'consolidated weight' of 2.453 tonnes.

Just how many lithium batteries had been loaded, or their weight, are not specified in the manifest, although Malaysian Airlines boss Ahmad Yahya told a media conference in Kuala Lumpur on March 24 that the batteries weighed a total of 200kg.

Questioned about the fact that a mystery cargo was not stated in the manifest, Malaysian Airlines told the paper that the rest of the consignment was 'radio accessories and chargers.'

The lithium batteries and the other mystery items that are said to be radio parts were addressed to NNR Global Logistics in Beijing, but a company named JHJ International Transportation Co.Ltd of Beijing was to collect the cargo on its behalf.

The manifest doesn't really make sense to me. If there were only two items shipped by NNR to NNR, and one was 1.99 tonnes (1,990 kg) and the other was 436 kg, which one were the batteries in? And how could they weigh 200 kg? Was there far more than 200 kg of batteries?

(The mangosteens are not included in the above-listed cargo .. the article also says ... The aircraft was carrying 4.566 tonnes of mangosteens... and another 2 items weighing 320 kg and 326 kg)

Kuala Lumpur (AFP) - Malaysian police have arrested an 11th suspect in an operation to break up Islamic terror groups posing as humanitarian organisations, an official said on Saturday.

Police arrested 10 Malaysians earlier in the week during raids in and around the capital Kuala Lumpur and the northern state of Kedah before a man attempting to flee the country was detained on Thursday, said a Home Ministry official.

The Southeast Asian country has been home to several suspected key figures in militant Islamic groups, such as the al-Qaeda-linked Jemaah Islamiyah blamed for the deadly 2002 Bali bombings.

Police have said they are also probing terrorism as one possible reason for the March 8 disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

A source familiar with the arrests told AFP on Monday that those detained were not linked to Jemaah Islamiyah or the disappearance of the jet.

" The New York-based digital publication quoted an unnamed officer from the counter-terrorism division of Malaysia’s Special Branch as having revealed that the 11 were interrogated yesterday over MH370’s mysterious disappearance nearly two months ago.

“The possibility that the plane was diverted by militants is still high on the list and international investigators have asked for a comprehensive report on this new terror group,” the officer was quoted as saying.

The IBTimes news report also said it is believed the 11 who were arrested at several locations within the city here and in Kedah over the past week may be members of a new terror group that has been planning bomb attacks in Muslim countries.

The 11 are aged between 22 and 55 and includes Saiden Ismail from student activist group Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM)".

IGP: Arrested terrorist suspects not linked

11.25am: Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has denied reports that 11 suspected militants arrested last week had been interrogated regarding MH370’s disappearance, The Star reports.

“That's rubbish! This has nothing to do with the plane,” he said.

He was asked to reports on British tabloids yesterday claiming that the militants are linked to the Al-Qaeda terrorist organisation and have been questioned about the missing airliner.

The group is suspected to be planning to send Malaysian fighters to the civil war in Damascus, Syria and recruiting suicide bombers.

Khalid said as at yesterday, the police had recorded 311 statements concerning the tragedy, including from the victims' family members."

Mr Truss also said that detailed mapping of the ocean floor would be a key part of the next stage.

"Much of this area has never been mapped and so it will require a significant effort for us to understand the ocean floor in that area," he said.

More meetings would begin on Wednesday where experts would share all the information, including satellite data, collected to date, it was agreed.

The man leading the search, Angus Houston, said they wanted to ensure their assumptions were correct.

The trio of Ministers spoke about a proposed program to welcome families of passengers to Perth in the event the resting place of MH370 is confirmed.

They agreed any visit would take place between two to four weeks after it was confirmed and Australia would provide support and information regarding visas “to ensure their travel ... [is] well taken care of”.

According to the meeting’s communiqué the Western Australian government would organise rituals and services according to the families traditions and all travel arrangements would be organised by Malaysia Airlines.

Media Release
5 May 2014—pm

Ocean Shield will today return to Fleet Base West to replenish its supplies and conduct routine maintenance and software modifications to Phoenix Autonomous Underwater Vehicle ‘Artemis’ Bluefin-21.

On completion of the short port visit, Ocean Shield will return immediately to the search area where the underwater search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 will continue.

The just-completed deployment began on 31 March with 56 personnel and specialist search equipment including a Towed Pinger Locator and Phoenix Autonomous Underwater Vehicle ‘Artemis’ Bluefin-21.

Although the search to date has not uncovered any evidence of possible aircraft debris during operations, the data collected during the 35 days at sea will assist in narrowing the search area for the final resting place of MH370.

The Australian Government is proud of the combined efforts of the Royal Australian Navy, United States Navy, civilian contractors from Phoenix International, Australian Transport Safety Bureau and the ship's crew.

Also at the request of the Australian Government, the U.S. Navy will continue supporting the MH370 sub-surface search effort with the Bluefin-21 side scan sonar for approximately 4 more weeks.

MH370 ‘had to have human interference’
May 5, 2014
A senior Boeing 777 captain says human input was essential for the flight to end in the Indian Ocea

PERTH: The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 could have only involved human input, according to two aviation experts.

A senior Boeing 777 captain and a former crash investigator agreed that given the information outlined in the preliminary report issued late last week, “human input was essential” for the MH370 to end its flight in the Indian Ocean.

“We are not dealing with an out-of-control plane – it is impossible for the Boeing 777 to fly this course by itself,” the West Australian newspaper quoted the the captain as saying.
The plane’s flight path shows multiple course changes and altitude changes, according to Malaysian authorities.

“To change course requires the pilot to either disengage the flight management computer and dial in a new heading to the autopilot/flight director or fly manually,” the captain said.
