Yeah. That's where I'm coming from. The Aussie search coordinator confirmed that's the joint research team found out about the pings in the media - the same time as the rest of the world.

The decision to release the news via Chinese media rather than the Australian agency set up to co-ordinate the operation is likely to cause friction. the British ship HMS Echo was sent to search with the Chinese ship and investigate the signals the Chinese say they heard

the Australian ship Ocean Shield stayed in its location , further north, to further investigate the "acoustic sounds" it picked up the other day

Sky News and CNN have reported Breaking News that a pinger locator being used in the search for MH370 has detected signals consistent with those emitted by aircraft black boxes
