'(Reuters) - A powerful Ukrainian rebel leader has confirmed that pro-Russian separatists had an anti-aircraft missile of the type Washington says was used to shoot down Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 and it could have originated in Russia.

In an interview with Reuters, Alexander Khodakovsky, commander of the Vostok Battalion, acknowledged for the first time since the airliner was brought down in eastern Ukraine on Thursday that the rebels did possess the BUK missile system and said it could have been sent back subsequently to remove proof of its presence.'

I absolutely LOVE how he still manages to find a way to blame Ukraine for that ..

Khodakovsky accused the Kiev authorities for provoking what may have been the missile strike that destroyed the doomed airliner, saying Kiev had deliberately launched air strikes in the area, knowing the missiles were in place.

The old 'provoking' excuse hey? It doesn't matter what they say, don't they get it .. the only people who are going to be blaming Ukraine are themselves and the Russian's who support them.

I now love the Netherlands and its people.
This is very touching.

The very first time I went there and saw the streets filled with bicycles decorated with flowers, I thought, 'This is a nice country.' I've never seen anything since to make me change my mind. It's a very, very crowded country but the key to everyone rubbing along seems to be a great sense of care and respect for other people - and pets.

Those qualities were so in evidence as the victims of MH17 arrived. I really believe they couldn't be in better or more caring hands.

They are ridiculous. They can't even get their stories straight between themselves....

'A pro-Russian rebel leader in eastern Ukraine has said his forces do not possess the Buk missile thought to have downed Malaysia airlines flight MH17.

Alexander Borodai, prime minister of the self-declared Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), described evidence that showed otherwise as "fake".

However, in a separate interview a rebel military commander said he was aware rebel fighters had the weapon.'

I agree. Spent several months there back in the 1970s; I don't think I've ever met a more hospitable people.

I can't find the post that had the link on the speculated missile type with pictures of the holes in the planes hull. That was a good explanation of the type of missile and how the missile didn't hit the plane but how it exploded hundreds of feet away but the shrapnel hit it.

Here is an article that helps explain that ...
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/22/w...act-by-supersonic-missile-analysis-shows.html

I think this is important now that some are trying to claim MH17 was shot down by an air-to-air missile which would have made a direct hit leaving ONE gaping hole as opposed to the shrapnel holes we see in the actual plane wreckage ...

@maxseddon has just tweeted that the Ukraine Government has thrown the entire Communist Party out of Parliament. The article he's linked is Pravda though, and in Russian. This won't help the situation in the region of the crash site at all, I think. :(

Here is the Russian language article anyhow. I should think there'll be some English language ones coming up soon.

Rebel leader is blaming the OSCE for the non-collection of victims bodies now. Said they threatened him, poor thing.

"We wanted to collect the bodies from the very beginning," said Mr Borodai.

"But we were under extreme pressure from the OSCE representative, who said to us: 'I represent 57 countries. Don't you dare touch the bodies of the dead. Under no circumstances. Or else all the 57 countries of the OSCE will do this and that to you.'"

I find it almost obscene that anyone could suggest the OSCE and victims' nations they represent, had any desire but to repatriate the bodies of victims as quickly as possible.

Head of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov announced the dissolution of the Communist Party faction in the Verkhovna Rada 7 convocation.

Opening session of Parliament, he said that this fraction has been less than 23 deputies.

"I declare the dissolution of the parliamentary faction of the Communist Party of Ukraine in the Verkhovna Rada 7 convocation. This historic event. I hope never Communist factions in the Ukrainian parliament will not" - said Turchinov.

Later, he adjourned the parliament to 11 hours.

As you know, on the eve of the deputies made changes to parliamentary rules that allow to dissolve the Communist Party faction.

July 24, this law has been published in the official gazette "Voice of Ukraine". Therefore it came into force.

Just published on Thursday in the "Voice of Ukraine" law on partial mobilization, "Interfax-Ukraine".

All about: the Verkhovna Rada, the Communist Party

Just thought I'd share this from the TransAsia crash...
It seems like such a strange concept... yet they managed it already.
How unbelievably refreshing... taking responsibility immediately!

http://www.ksl.com/?sid=30830706&ni...spects-bad-weather-caused-crash&s_cid=queue-1

In Taipei, TransAsia Airways' general manager, Hsu Yi-Tsung, bowed deeply before reporters and tearfully apologized for the accident, the news agency said.

"As TransAsia is responsible for this matter, we apologize. We apologize," Hsu said.

"It would have recorded the sound of the explosion, which under forensic analysis, would reveal what type of explosion it was," aviation security expert and commercial pilot, Desmond Ross said.
The sound of the explosion would allow forensic analysts to determine if the missile fired at MH17 was indeed the SA-11 BUK.

The cockpit recorder and flight data would have recorded any evasive action taken by the pilots.

Crucial to establishing how fast the plane plummeted to earth are recorded losses in altitude and pressure, which the flight data recorder would have registered.
In turn, the loss of cabin pressure would indicate whether the missile blew a single hole in the cabin, or thousands of smaller shrapnel holes.
This would allow investigators to confirm the size and type of missile that struck the cabin.

It is believed that once the boxes are received, information can be retrieved within 24 hours, depending on the condition of the recorders.

RTL-NEWS / ANP have interviewed Jan Tuinder, Head of Coordination Centre

http://www.rtlnieuws.nl/nieuws/binnenland/onderzoek-vliegramp-oekraine#node_972241

ONE COFFIN IS NOT ONE BODY

Translation of the interview:

Dozens of forensic specialists in Kharkov make sure that the remains of the victims of the air crash ' go home ', as Jan Tuinder, who leads the coordination centre, describes their care.

Five questions for the policeman.

What is your main task?
"We know how many people were on the plane, but we don't know who is who. We will determine their identity in The Netherlands. Here we collect remains, of which we sometimes don't even know what piece of the body it is, and we make sure that can be transported in a safe and decent way. "

How do the forensic experts react to what they find?
"It is high-quality work that is being done under bizarre circumstances by professional people of flesh and blood. You see how they move back and forth between anger and sadness, you know you're working with human remains that went through horror. On the other hand, there is also relief that you are able to bring them home. That makes the work so special. "

This operation differs a lot from your work after other disasters?
"Every disaster is different, the emotion seems to be the same. But in this case there is a huge difference: human intent was behind what happened. Probably not the intent to kill these people. But there has been someone who has fired something intentionally. It's bad enough to have to accept that a plane crashed, but now you have also have the anger that it would not have been necessary. That is also our drive to do our work as well as possible. "

Does each box that is flown over contain one body?
"No. People who see 40 crates, may think that we have 40 names and bodies. That is not the case. In a box are one or more body bags containing remains of still unidentified victims. We have four train cars with body bags. Only when all wagons are cleared out, we can determine how many body bags we had. "

How long will you be active in Ukraine?
"That's not clear. We won't leave until before we have managed to get everything out of the country. We know that remains are still left behind in the disaster area, that area is 1.5 km wide and 14 km long. It will be quite a challenge to clean it all. But we want to identify all the remains that we find. So that the victims can be buried. And we want to know what happened. As a police officer I want the culprit brought to justice. "

:rose:

Bless them all !

Oh NO!!!

AFP

Air Algerie has lost contact with one of its passenger aircraft nearly an hour after takeoff from Burkina Faso bound for Algiers.

A company source told AFP that some 110 people of various nationalities are listed as being on board the flight.

The source said contact with the flight was lost while it was still in Malian airspace approaching the border with Algeria.

"The plane was not far from the Algerian frontier when the crew was asked to make a detour because of poor visibility and to prevent the risk of collision with another aircraft on the Algiers-Bamako route," the source said.

"Contact was lost after the change of course."
