Among the agencies involved are various units of the police force – including its elite force VAT 69 – the Senoi Praaq, K9, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Forestry Department and volunteers.

Today, members of the media were invited for the first time to join the SAR operation at Gunung Berembun, here.

However, a recent rainstorm has hampered rescue efforts, as the ground is now slippery and muddy.

Malaysian search teams bring in 'cadaver dogs' and shaman in increasingly desperate hunt for barefoot Nora Quoirin who has been missing for nine days

The hunt for missing teen Nora Quoirin has involved the use of dogs trained in finding dead bodies and shaman, it emerged today.

As hopes of finding the missing 15-year-old fades, cadaver dogs roamed the dense jungle with their handlers.

The use of the specialist dogs comes as the largest number of search and rescue personnel continued to work in energy sapping hot and humid temperatures, hacking their way through the jungle vines and vegetation.

'The cadaver dogs are used as well as sniffer dogs as there was no scent found of the girl in the first few days,' said a member of the search team.

'As of yet the dogs have not found anything and that is a good sign.

'In the heat out here a body would be found sooner rather than later.'

What if it was revenge on grandpa. He is a mayor so maybe some controversy is happening?

Not victim blaming at all. Just throwing random ideas out there. I have no clue.

Mayor is ceremonial and isn’t some political figure. A French mayor is usually someone well respected who cuts ribbons and wears nice jackets. It’s not likely to be paid well or have any sway. I wouldn’t rule anything out but I would be amazed if someone was so offended by their ceremonial mayor in rural France that they staged a multi national revenge in the jungles of Malaysia

Given the evidence, there is no doubt in my mind that this is a criminal case and that Nora has been abducted. Despite how far we have gone with child protection, and for protection of those with additional needs, in the UK, mistakes are still made. But we are so much more fortunate than other places around the world, and with children myself I am so grateful for this.
