“Our investigators have learned new information in an ongoing investigation which has granted them approval for a search warrant,” Const. Wendy Drummond told CP24 Monday morning. “It began this morning at approximately 8 a.m. and we don’t have any timeline as far as how long we will be there.”
Police declined to provide any more details, other than to say that new information led to the latest search.

Olaf Heinzel, a spokesperson for Waterloo Regional Police, said local officers were assisting Toronto Police in an investigation and couldn't comment further.
Waterloo police Staff Sgt. Steve Dalrymple could not say why a drug unit was called in for the search, but pointed out they are not exclusively called in for drug busts.
"They are the ones who are trained in the handling of hazardous materials," he said.

A Waterloo Regional Police drug unit arrived on scene mid-afternoon. Investigators wearing full white protective suits and respirators were seen going in and out of the barn.
They were seen testing the air with a hand-held device before entering, and emerged later with what appeared to be boxes of evidence, which were taken to the Toronto forensic truck.
The search continues Tuesday.

A police spokesman would only say that investigators obtained another search warrant for the property after receiving further information in relation to Ms. Babcocks disappearance. Toronto police initially searched the farm in late May, but said at the time that no evidence had been located.

Lauras uncle, Thomas Ryan, took the day off work and watched police as they combed Millards farm for evidence.
Ryan said he last saw his niece about a month before she disappeared. She was looking for a place to live and was on good terms with her family.

NORTH DUMFRIES After two days of scouring accused killer Dellen Millards farm, Toronto cops have yet to find any trace of his former girlfriend.
Ryan hadnt seen his niece for a couple years, but he spoke to her on the phone just weeks before she disappeared. And during that conversation, his niece talked about a new boyfriend, a man Ryan now believes was Millard.
My wife and I both think it was Dellen she was talking about because she referred to him being a pilot and a photographer, Ryan said. She also mentioned he was wealthy.
He was concerned about the unsavoury crowd Babcock was keeping company with at the time.

Police say they don’t know when they’ll be done searching for evidence at Dellen Millard’s farm property in North Dumfries.
“We are sufficiently concerned that we are investing the resources at the time to go and see if that evidence does exist,” he said.
“When we have something to report publicly, I’m sure that’ll happen.”
...police say their search warrant is usable for “as long as we need to finish what we’re doing.”
“We’re looking for evidence . . . to corroborate information we’ve received,” McLane said, refusing to elaborate further. He said he was unaware of any significance to a “forensics identification” tent pitched earlier in the afternoon, pointing out that rain was in the forecast.
.The accused killer, who celebrated his birthday in jail on Aug. 30, said that "getting a visit is so rare" and called this visit from a reporter "precious."
Still, he insisted he could not talk. He has been incarcerated since his arrest May 10.
Millard stood tall behind the glass during the brief visit; his orange coveralls zipped up all the way, with the sleeves rolled halfway up his arms
An hour's drive away, Mark Smich sits in a matching orange jumpsuit in segregation at the Toronto East Detention Centre in Scarborough, where The Spectator visited him Wednesday morning.
Here, he is separated from visitors by both glass and metal bars — but unlike the private booth where Millard talked, there is one other inmate beside him, visiting with his girlfriend and a friend.

Police officers removed what appeared to be a large piece of farm equipment and a heavy board, both wrapped in plastic, from Dellen Millard’s North Dumfries farm Thursday morning.
Former Waterloo Regional Police officer Rob Brown tells CTV News...
“They may have new evidence leading them toward something that could be very miniscule, such as DNA placed somewhere,” he says.

Brown said officers using lights in the barn are likely looking for DNA samples.
At the Millard farm on Wednesday, police erected a blue tent at the rear of the barn. Brown suggested the tent was put up to protect something officers found.
"It was there for a specific reason," he said.

Police refused to say what they’ve found since the most recent search started Monday at the 40-hectare farm. OPP Const. Marc Walsh said they’re looking for materials that are common to farms and any material that may help with the investigation.

As the mystery of a missing Toronto woman continues to wear on her family, the former owners of Dellen Millard's farm say they are distressed over another recent discovery barrels of potentially hazardous materials...
On Friday night, officers packed up and left the farm, their search warrant expired, said Const. Victor Kwong...
"Over the weekend, we were trying to be hopeful, but the gravity of the situation is starting to sink in," said Babcock's uncle, Thomas Ryan. "They were at the farm for five days. They had dozens of officers there looking for something related to Laura, and still nothing. We're in the same spot we were 15 months ago when she disappeared."
Police who searched murder suspect Dellen Millard’s farm last week have so far found “no significant connection” to a missing Toronto woman, but the head of the city’s homicide squad said objects taken from the property still need to be forensically examined.

On what it means to have a linkage
“The linkages could be as easy as a street name or a street address, could be a person’s name. Could be an object. It could be through [the Centre of Forensic Sciences], could be through DNA. Fingerprints. Those are linkages. Could be a statement, could be somebody that gave a statement in Hamilton’s case had information on a Toronto case. I’m not saying that’s the case.”
His accused killers, Dellen Millard, 28, and Mark Smich, 26, had separate, back-to-back appearances in a Hamilton courtroom Tuesday for the start of their pretrial.
Both Millard and Smich were remanded into custody, to appear by video for a second pretrial date on Oct. 31.
There is a brief discussion about having a certain woman removed from his "do not contact" list.
"At this stage, she has not given a statement to police and I can't say she has relevant information," Crown attorney Tony Leitch tells the court.
The judge is annoyed and says "I'm not going to deal with it now."
The Crown, he says, should have discussed this with him earlier.
Meanwhile, Tim's homicide case moves forward slowly. The morning began with a private judicial pretrial meeting between Takach, Crown attorneys Leitch and Craig Fraser, Millard's lawyer Deepak Paradkar and a representative from the office of Thomas Dungey, the lawyer representing Smich. Together, they began laying out the trial plan.
