Anthony Judge Denies Media's Motion
Judge Will Not Disclose Location Until Day Selection Begins

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Perry previously said he will not disclose the location until 8 a.m. on May 9, the first day of jury selection.

During the May 2. hearing, he upheld that decision, despite arguments from an attorney hired by several media outlets.

"This news coverage of this case has been unprecedented," Perry said.

News 13 not joining Casey Anthony appeal

Judge Perry will not tell news outlets where jury selection is until sometime Sunday, May 8, the day before jury selection starts. He will only tell those news outlets signing an agreement, and the agreement prevents the news outlets from reporting the location until 8 a.m. the day jury selection begins which is Monday, May 9.

Media Outlets Appeal Judge's Order In Casey Case

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Several Florida media outlets appealed a decision by Judge Belvin Perry in the case against Casey Anthony late Tuesday afternoon.


Perry indicated at Monday's hearing that an appeal could open the door for the defense to delay the start of Casey's trial.


"It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what they would be asking for in this case, which is a delay followed by a gag order not to talk to anyone about the case," said WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer.


Perry wants to keep the location a secret until one hour before jury selection begins. The 5th District Court of Appeal must decide if Perry has the power to block that information.

Casey Anthony: George and Cindy ask to see her, WKMG reports

George and Cindy Anthony have asked to see Casey, before the murder trial begins, WKMG-Channel 6 reported tonight.

“I am told her parents are waiting for her to decide whether or not they will have a video visitation”. Baez was made aware of the parents’ request this week, and so far, George and Cindy Anthony have not heard back from their daughter’s attorney.”

Baez Answers Questions At Media Event

No cameras were allowed inside.

Lippman has filed a motion asking for the judge to allow a video visit between Casey and her parents that would not handed out to the media afterward.

Of course, the prosecution would still get to see it, which makes it highly unlikely Casey's defense team -- or Casey, herself -- would allow such a visit to take place.

How Casey Anthony judge plans to handle protesters

ORLANDO -- The judge issued orders Wednesday about how the public can get a seat at the trial, as well as rules for those protesting at the Orange County Courthouse.

Protesters will be allowed outside the courthouse. But the judge's order will limit exactly where they can protest.

Starting now and up through July 15, there are two "free speech zones" along Orange Avenue, where people are allowed to gather.

Livingston Street to the semicircle in front of the courthouse
Amelia Street to the other side of the semicircle

No one will be allowed to hold protests or press conferences on courthouse property -on the steps of the courthouse, or anywhere close to the courthouse."



County officials will mark the free speech zones with red and yellow tape.

Court administrators said that the jury will not enter the courthouse through the main entrance. The jury will be sequestered and will not be able to see any protests when they come into court.

The three Fifth District Court of Appeal judges deciding whether a media challenge will delay Casey's murder trial are Jacqueline Griffin, Kerry Evander and William Palmer.

WFTV was told they were considering the matter on Wednesday afternoon, behind closed doors. A "2 to 1" or unanimous vote carries.



If the Fifth DCA panel sides with Perry, Sheaffer said it would be based on sound reasoning.

A petition to the Florida Supreme Court would stand an even lesser chance.

WFTV was told there will be a Fifth DCA ruling. The issue will not just drop.
If there's no opinion or explanation accompanying that ruling, that would be the end of it; no Supreme Court review.

Perry also has to decide if some never-before-used scientific air test evidence will be used against Casey.

Casey Anthony lead detective up for national honor on America's Most Wanted

ORLANDO -- Woman in South Florida thinks he's the best at what he does. She went online and nominated Melich for 2011's "America's Most Wanted" All-Star for his work on the Casey Anthony case.

Melich's nominator said he has shown truthfulness and passion in investigating the case.

If he wins, Melich will get a $10,000 check as part of a total prize package worth more than $15,000.


Online voting ends Sunday. The winner will be notified by phone on Monday, the same day jury selection is scheduled to begin in Casey's trial.
