VIDEO: "Drew Peterson is Now Accused of Police Brutality"

12/17/2007 Michelle Gielan (www.myfoxchicago.com) reporting (VIDEO): "Timothy Brownlee has no doubt in his mind that it was Drew Peterson who attacked him and broke his thumb. Brownlee: "I seen him on TV and I recognized him." Brownlee said he was barbecuing in his back yard when his neighbor started harassing him and called Bolingbrook police. Brownlee said officers arrested him, took him in and performed a strip search and called him the "N" word, then Sgt. Peterson attacked him. Brownlee: "He grabbed my thumb and gave it a good twist and I heard it and felt it pop." Brownlee, in a cast missed work in a barber shop for months. He's suing Peterson, the two officers and the Bolingbrook Police Department. Jon Loevy (Brownlee's Attorney): "He's just a regular guy with a job and he was injured by officers in the police department." Peterson's attorney, Joel Brodsky said this is an example of "people are coming out of the woodwork with unfounded allegations against his client and he's confident that the State's Attorney will handle the case appropriately." For Brownlee, even though the cast is gone, he says the fear is still there. Brownlee: "I'm afraid of him." The charges against Brownlee as a result of his arrest that day were dropped by the judge."

Drew Peterson's lawyer acknowledges that in the days after the former police officer's wife disappeared he transferred $200,000 from a joint account the two had into one controlled by one of his sons.

But Joel Brodsky says Peterson did so because he believed Stacy Peterson left him for another man wanted to prevent her from taking the money.
Brodsky says he's discussing the transfer only after it was leaked to the media.

Drew Peterson Said He Was With His Fourth Wife, Stacy Peterson, When Kathleen Savio Died, But Phone Records May Prove Otherwise

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (CBS) ― Investigators are zeroing in on the timeline before the death of Kathleen Savio, the third wife of former Bolingbrook police sergeant Drew Peterson.

Their inquiry has led them to seek out nearly 4-year-old phone records that could raise doubt about Drew Peterson's alibi regarding where he was in the 48 hours before Savio was found dead in a bathtub.

As CBS 2 West Suburban Bureau Chief Mike Puccinelli reports, sources say Stacy Peterson was looking for her husband, Drew Peterson, the day before his Savio was found dead in her home. Sources say investigators also know Stacy Peterson repeatedly called her husband's cell phone that day to try and find him.

Family Says Focus Of Stacy Peterson Search To Shift

"The sister of Stacy Peterson tells Newsradio 780 that investigators looking for Stacy have completed their search of one part of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal and will shift their focus elsewhere."

"Stacy's sister Cassandra Cales says investigators are finished with one part of the canal.

"State police and the FBI have finished their search in the canal from lock to lock. And nothing came up. So they're focusing their search efforts elsewhere."

Cales says she trusts the Illinois State Police and the FBI. She says - quote - "They're really pushing forward on this case and I believe they will get whoever did this and bring my sister home.""

DREW PETERSON HIRES DETECTIVES

BOLINGBROOK -- If Stacy Peterson is at the bottom of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, then that's where she is going to stay.

"They've moved on to other waterways," Pam Bosco, the spokeswoman for the missing mom's family, said of the state police-coordinated search effort.

"They're doing it in other areas that they haven't been able to do before," said Bosco, the legal guardian of Stacy's half-sister, Cassandra Cales.

CHICAGO -- A former friend of Drew Peterson's went before a Will County grand jury on Thursday to testify in the case of Peterson's wife's disappearance in October.

Peterson, a former Bolingbrook police sergeant, is suspected in Stacy Peterson's disappearance. Peterson disappeared Oct. 28, authorities said. NBC5's Alex Perez reported that prosecutors might be focusing on what Peterson's children may know about the case.

"They asked me about the children, their demeanor that week, and what went on in the house the week I was there at Drew's house," said Rick Mims.

A former friend of Drew Peterson testified before a special grand jury Thursday about how Peterson's immediate family reacted in the days after his wife, Stacy Peterson, disappeared.

"They asked me about the children that week, their demeanor and what went on in the house the week that I was there," said Richard Mims, who stayed at the Petersons' home after Stacy Peterson, 23, vanished Oct. 28.

Mims declined to reveal specific questions he was asked or what he told the grand jury other than that he saw nothing unusual between Peterson and his children, whom he called "the most well-mannered, wholesome children I've been around."

Ric Mims made money selling his story to the National Enquirer. Thursday, he gave it away for free to the grand jury.

Mims, the one-time friend of embattled former cop Drew Peterson, made his second appearance before the special grand jury and said he is slated to come back for yet another at the end of next month.

"They asked about the week I was there," said Mims, who holed up with Peterson immediately after the retired police sergeant's wife went missing Oct. 28. Mims then turned on Peterson and sold a story suggesting he suspects his old friend was behind the young wife's disappearance. Mims says he and Peterson have not spoken since.

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. -- A mysterious blue barrel. Divers searching the murky, frigid waters of an industrial canal. And a woman's body exhumed for clues three years after her death.

Nearly two months after Stacy Peterson was last seen, the investigation into her disappearance and suspicions surrounding her husband, former Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson, have produced many intriguing questions. But few answers.

All the story lines, though, have led back to one house on a quiet street, and to Sunday, Oct. 28, the day the 23-year-old mother of two small children vanished.

Cassandra Cales spent every Christmas with her half-sister, until this one.

"Every year she was with Stacy," said Pam Bosco, the foster mother of Cassandra Cales, whose half-sister Stacy Peterson vanished nearly two months ago.

"(Stacy) would do all that special stuff for Cassandra," said Bosco, who has taken on the role of spokeswoman for Stacy Peterson's family, standing in the eye of the media storm generated by the young mother's disappearance.

"She knows Cassandra's heart," Bosco said.
