I'm a little shocked his handlers haven't convinced him to check into rehab yet

He is probably refusing EVERYTHING they (handlers, attys, etc) are suggesting. I hope there are no firearms within his reach. Not that I think he would "off" himself - no, more like he would go after her (and even possibly the baby as "I hope she doesn't turn out like you").

IMO he's past the rehab stage and needs true, clinical, hopsital treatment. Really wonder what his therapist is saying......................

He has been dropped from Wm Morris Agency.....he is persona non gratia now and he sent out an email telling ANYONE of his so called friends his new cell phone number.

This man is taboo.....and a danger to anyone who crosses him.
I heard everyone of the tapes and I'm shocked he didn't have a heart attack or a stroke.
He is a control freak....who demands attention.

It was reported that her son by Timothy Dalton may be a witness to his past rantings and abusive behavior.

Why is she calm while he rants like a crazy?
Because its her way of dealing with this nut. It's the smartest thing she can do. Keep calm and controlled herself.

He should never be around their child....and I'm sure if he were in a room with her while he WENT OFF, there would be one dead body lying on the floor.

He's a racist and an abuser..... ... she should keep Nicole Simpson in her mind.

Can you imagine Whoopie saying 'HE'S NOT A RACIST?' Now that's mind-blowing to me.

I think a better example is set for children when they see consequences being faced and their abused parent no longer tolerating being a doormat.

If I were his ex, I wouldn't even try to get him some help. Until HE realizes he's got a BOAT LOAD of SERIOUS issues there would be no point. IMO He's a narcissist that HATES women and (darn near everyone else) and ya can't fix that.

BTW did anyone see "The View" yesterday? I caught a clip on some news show last night. Seems Whoopie is defending old Mel, claiming he's not a racist! Just like she defended Roman Polanski claiming wasn't a child rapist.

Robyn already gave her children that example (not being a doormat) when she divorced him. I hope these tapes and this public humiliation have brought him to his knees enough that he will be willing to get help. I just feel bad his children have to be publicly embarrassed along with him. I think we all got the point after one or two tapes. This slow stream of releasing them is rather cruel and vindictive when you consider his children. Somebody needs to take them into consideration - since their own father did not when he acted like a flaming, drunken, crazy azz.

I highly doubt Mel has only been a woman hating, controlling, abusive narcissist since he's been with this woman. The depth of Mels hatred didn't spring forth overnight.

His ex wife spent 27-28 years dealing with him. I'm sure the children seen their mother being treated like a doormat throughout. I am equally sure they were all very adapt at walking on egg shells whenever he was around to have latest that long. And I would bet, the divorce settlement was hefty enough to keep her silence. Seems the only thing she found distasteful enough to leave him for was the public embarrassment of his cheating.

Guess Mel is a darn good actor, or Whoopie isn't the brightest bulb in the box...............

I am sure that is all true -- but I do think his family life may have kept him in line somewhat and that he's on a downward spiral without that stability. Women stay in marriages for many reasons and I will not fault Robyn for trying to keep her family intact. I know the inner struggle and self-doubt I experienced (and still do) over the end of my marriage. She has always stayed out of the limelight and behaved with dignity. I don't think it required a payoff with her. But that's just a guess.

He sounds drunk to me... especially because he is panting. I've seen it before. I have a brother in law that is mellow as a stoned sloth when he's sober and Mel Jr. when he's drunk. Says and does all the same things. Alcohol does that to some people. I am also wondering if he's doing coke.

I just don't understand why LE hasn't taken him into custody or "Baker Acted" him - Baker Act is a Florida term - I know they have it in California because they used it on Britany Spears (it has another name out there). Basically it states that you are a danger to yourself and/or others.

Is he still out of the area filming? Maybe that is why. Maybe once he's back in town, there will be some action taken. Let's hope.

I also think he was drunker than a skunk. It is obvious that Mel has a drinking problem and it only exascerbates his self control and anger issues.

The rant tapes were a topic on CNN last night and it was being discussed that while Mel's camp is silent on the matter, Whoopie and others have come out defending him. They say he is not a racist but rather a bone head and a friend.

One of the panelists involved in the discussion gave the following anology that I thought was very apt.:

When angry or outraged, Mel is like a small child who never graduated from the sandbox. When angered he reacts like a small child, throwing out every hateful curse word and derogatory term he can think of.

That to me describes his behavior to a tee.

Whoopi also defended Polanski, because apparently it wasn't "rape-rape" whatever that means. And she also defended Vick.
Now I am starting to wonder as to what someone has to do for Whoopi not to defend them?

I read that Robyn is a pretty tough cookie and Mel's exact opposite. You would have to be under the circumstances.

But it has been reported that LE is conducting a criminal investigation. Did Oksana file a complaint? Maybe so - that's why there is an investigation going on.

I'm discussing what I think is a legal tactic by Oksana and her attorney. I think it stinks for his children and is overkill. To be clear, he should not be raising that child so as not to confuse you. In fact if I were Mel for the sake of that child I would sign off rights to the mother because any arrangement is not going to work out between them. That is obvious.

As far as Oksana's voice being so calm, yes I agree with the poster who said she had learned to remain very calm to not get him even more riled up. Many people learn that when dealing with someone unhinged. I recall her also saying something about always walking on eggshells.

I think a part of me identifies with her because of living with my abusive ex. Oh they're a real charmer at first and then when they feel they have you secure in their domain the truth of who they are starts coming out.
His comment about owning her speaks volumes to me!

I also believe that with these tapes being released and talked about, there will be at least a few women who are in abusive relationships that may find the strength to reach out for help.
