man I wish they would give better detail on where she was found along the trail. I still feel really drawn to the area just off Fulton and Depot, behind that industrial looking area. But searching with blood hounds that found A cell phone was quite some distance off by Oma Rd and 34 Mile.

That seems a long way to go for a walk with Penny? That leaves a long walk home IMO. I wonder if her killer continued either on foot, by bike or vehicle along the trail and just dumped the phone there.

I also just noticed in one of the news reports that the van was photographed by the witness during the time when people were searching for April but before she had been found dead. The photo shows the van driving on the street. I wonder what caused the witness to think it was suspicious? I had heard it was reported to be driving on the trail but the photo in the news link seems to show the van on the regular road.

Curious.

photo appears to have been snapped by a cell phone.

At a Friday afternoon press conference authorities made a point of saying that the van was suspicious enough that someone in the area took a photo of it. http://www.wxyz.com/news/region/macomb-county/photo-police-seek-information-about-van-possibly-connected-to-murder-of-april-millsap-in-armada

You know the motorcycle and the van could be part of the same. Many people carry small motorcycles in a van, and this one was said to be small.

Good point colette. We used to haul our dirt bikes in the back of work van or pickup truck. All you need is a good sturdy 4x8 to walk the bike up into vehicle. easy.

I'm going to venture to guess the COD to be strangulation which is a very personal form of homicide. This could also account for a "blueness" or bruising appearance of her face. My gut tells me she knew her attacker.

yes, very smart dog. Given April was located off the trail in a drainage ditch in a wooded area, who knows how long it may have taken to find her had not her beloved Penny sounded the alarm and so insistently gotten the attention of passers by. Poor gal, she must be bereft without her special person :(

I have asked that the thread title be altered to add April's name when time allows.

I wonder if they're watching out for anyone seeking treatment for a dog bite...

thanks very much for the thread title update.

They would be wise to. I imagine they have samples of Penny's fur and saliva as well. Just in case it can ever be matched some piece of forensic evidence found elsewhere. clothing, upholstery.

This is so sad. A precious little girl just walking her sweet puppy....This really breaks my heart.

Odd, I just crosschecked the suspect's sketch on the web, and one of the hits that matched came back as the suspect sketch in Abigail Hernandez' case. The images are nothing alike imo, and neither are the descriptions. It must have just come back as similar because they are similar types of images, and most recently added?

I just wanted to get April's picture in this thread

Thanks for last night's updates. We had terrible storms in Oakland County, and I wasn't online for most of the afternoon/evening. Our cable went out at 10:00, so DH and I went :offtobed:

Thoughts and prayers for April's family, friends, and the entire Armada community. April will likely be laid to rest this week, and I hope and pray that her killer is apprehended soon. :rose:

Is the date in the thread's title correct?

The date is definitely not correct. Should be 7/24/14

I have asked for them to make the correction. Not sure if I did it correctly though.

the text is odd. But then this is a teen who may live and breath texting.

I wonder if she was half joking after seeing something that was unusual or troubling or a vehicle seemed to be following her.

Otherwise she would I think have texted something more urgent and descriptive (such as dirty white van, two guys!!!! help!!) The OMG would seem to make it a lighter or more puzzled text than frightened.

Kind of like when I say I have a horrible headache an my friend says "probably a tumor - brain cancer" As a means to lighten me up and remind me things could be worse. Now if one day I end up with brain cancer my friend is going to feel like chit.

I think she noticed something odd or off that made her uncomfortable. But blew it off and tried to make it funny. Laughed at herself for being silly in a way by sending that text. Also a way to reach out to see if BF would respond. So she would feel like he was there, attentive, with her if anything further made here feel funky.
BBM - I think this makes the most sense!

Yup, people have to pay attention to those around them. They say to watch out for someone who gets a recent haircut, grows a beard/moustache (or shaves it all), is absent from work in the days surrounding the murder, is acting 'different', details their vehicle, etc....
