Search renewed for Sturgis girl missing 12 years

This week marks the 12th anniversary of the disappearance of a Sturgis girl.

The FBI and local police say they're renewing efforts to find Brittany Beers. She was 7 years old on Sept. 16, 1997, when she was last seen sitting on a bench near the apartment complex where her family lived.

Investigators tell WNDU-TV in South Bend, Ind., they're going back over the entire case to look for new leads. Sturgis is near the Indiana border, about 80 miles south of Grand Rapids.

Investigators say they hope the passage of time will make it easier for people with knowledge about Brittany's disappearance to break their silence and come forward.

Any update on this, Stampit3d or anyone else? I started reading through and this is certainly a sad case. I want to be hopeful that Brittany is still alive, but over a decade is a long time to pull something off...
 
I can definitely see Tina's boyfriend, James, being involved. She went out at 8:30 PM, and returned at 9:05. Brittney's half-brother went out at 8:35. I'm not sure what time he returned, but let's assume that James had 30 minutes to kill Brittney. That's more than enough time. There are reports of domestic violence in the house, the mother got her other children taken away, etc etc so it's not hard for me to think that Tina would have gone along with disposing of Brittney's body. I don't just mean because James would threaten her, but because she seems like the type who would do anything for her lover.

James was arrested for domestic violence against Tina, and there are reports about Brittney being molested by family members. After Brittney disappeared, her mother got her other two children taken away. It just seems far-fetched that a child who is living in this type of horrible environment, would be kidnapped by a complete stranger.

I sort of know the person who runs this tumblr, shes had a pretty rough life and also recalls having her memory wiped out in '97. Could that really be Brittney? :waitasec:

I think if the person believes they could be Brittany they should call the investigating agency and have them decide if a DNA test is needed.

I suppose after hearing about J.C, Steven , Tammy,Natasha, Elizabeth and Shawn . Anything is possible but I would be very careful of her proclaiming she is BB. As all the children listed above remembered exactly who they were even the Steven who was 7.

I felt if she really thought she was BB she would have contacted someone ,or at the least posted pictures of herself growing up and current along with BB pictures. The blog just has a poll and mention of "flashbacks"
 
I read the blog. Interesting. Her details of the flashbacks coincide with the details of Brittany's family- older brother, younger sister and a mother who called her Brittany. What if "Constance" is too afraid to call the police? She looks to be only a teenager. The blog doesn't have Constance's area where she lives in. Maybe someone could tip the investigator on the case to this blog? Good research Rhiannon!
 
On the link there is a another link labeled picture evidence towards the bottom right hand corner. The person hasn't said anything yet because they are freaked out and feel they may already be in danger and in even more if the person they live with finds out they know.
 
She lives in the northeast area of the united states not in Michigan. Constance is afraid to say anything because she's been abused most of her life and has very bad post traumatic stress disorder knows she doesn't want to end up getting in an even more abusive situation which could happen if she speaks up. She is supposedly around 18 years old but shes pretty sure shes older than that. She says that when the person shes suppose to be turns 18 she will go to Sturgis and find Brittney's sister and then go from there. Because she doesn't know why she was taken she feels it is best to keep a lower profile and keep the man she is living with as far out of this as possible because he would of been the one who took her. The person that took her went to extreme lengths to try and make sure she wouldn't remember who she was, Constance realizes that the man may be very dangerous which is why she hasn't said anything yet.
 
So happy cases like Brittney's are getting publicity, finally!
