I wish people were talking a little more about AB. Aside from the one drunk driving, resisting arrest.... I really haven't heard enough about him to determine much more than a young punky type who is mean/mouthy when drunk.

No one is speaking about him anywhere.... (which I am sure he is eating up right about now.)

He looks really sweet and in love with her on her facebook pages. They look very happy and affectionate. But I wish I knew what he was doing with himself these days. Working? Studying? Dealing?

His arrest for running from LE at 19 does not ring that many alarm bells for me. Like it has already been said--many kids that age do stupid drunken chit like that, and it does not mean they could kill a child.

He does not appear violent, but he might have a bad bad temper when he drinks. Who knows.

It looks as if most of you have moved on at this point, but PLEASE remember that mom is a VICTIM. At this point, any discussion about whether or not she is negligent shouldn't even be coming up. What's more important here...to find Carnel, or to blame his devistated mother? In case you aren't sure, the focus should be on Carnel and the POI.

Please move on. Thanks. :)

Well, I have some catching up to do. But I'll share with you the story of someone I knew who ran from the police while drunk, fled a vehicle, ran through a field to an acquaintance's home, hid and then caught a ride in the trunk into town. He was not just a punk. He was extremely unstable and dangerous. His wife left him because he was abusive, and he lost visitation rights with two children by another woman because he had been abusive in that relationship and possibly with the children. I was at a party once when he fired off shots at a neighbor's trailer and then, when the cops came, told the officer that the neighbor had exposed himself to some girls at the party. A few of my friends were partying with him one night, and they decided to go to some farm to shoot guns. He was arrested going over 100 mph on a state highway with loaded guns in the trunk.

Is AB like the guy I knew? Who knows. But it seems likely that he's the kind of person who takes chances and worries about the consequences later and also seems like the kind of person who thinks he can outsmart the police.

I think the chances that Carnel was safe and sound when mom left for work are at about 90 to 99% . But there is still a small question in my mind, until there is total verification. Just a sliver of a doubt.

I hear ya. The only way I can see that small sliver being possible is if no one had seen Carnell and mom, AB and carnell were isolated due to some kind of abuse. If he had been sick or ill or hurt days before and not gotten medical treatment when necessary.

While we haven't heard what they are, it's pretty clear rumors are running rampant locally. I think possible abuse that was trying to be hidden would likely have leaked out already or mom would not appear as cooperative as she is. Talking to the media, can't stay home anymore and had to go out with the searchers.

My gut is telling me AB was there but just physically there. Not necessarily watching a 4 yr old properly and something happened. Either in the home, yard or while out on the ATV.

4 yr old boys can be pretty rambunctious with a LOT of energy. Doesn't really mix well with a 20 yr old who appears to like to party. Which in all honesty, isn't that unusual for the typical 20 yr old. Not excusing anything, just speaking of average 20 yr olds...

My DH is a great dad, and our kids are fully grown now. But when they were
really young, I wasn't always happy with the way he watched the kids at home when I was gone.

Basically, he just went about his business at home, doing what he needed to get done, and just kind of expected them to come and check in with him occasionally. Which they did, lol, thank goodness. But I think that guys tend to be kind of lax with their care taking. AB is very very young and probably not that experienced in keeping track of a 4 yr old. If the boy got out to the pool by himself for example, AB might not even have realized how dangerous that could be.

Can we get back to Carnel and finding him please?

Can anyone confirm the search was a 10 square mile radius? I've seen 1 and 10.

Anyone good with maps that can add a circle, or circles both 1 and 10 miles?

tomah road mt pleasant mi - Google Maps

Taking another look at the (satellite view) map on Tomah and zooming out due to the possibility they left on the ATV, to the east, beyond the camp ground, looks like quite a bit more forest/woodsy area and several bodies of water, a river or stream of somekind.

the possibilities look enormous compared to "if he just wandered off"....

If we start with the time mom left for work that is a lot of time to travel....
It also leads to the possibility an accident occured while both Carnel and AB were riding the ATV.

The only thing I've seen about the search area has been on a family members fb page. They said the search canvassed nearly 2sq mi of woods & water within the reservation, as of Saturday.

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI — A search will continue Tuesday morning for 4-year-old Carnel Chamberlain, who has been missing from his home since Thursday evening.

Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police will continue the search with the help of other law enforcement agencies and professionals, said tribal spokesman Frank Coultier.

Authorities will meet Tuesday morning to discuss strategies for the fifth day of organized searching. They will talk about possibly expanded the search radius from its current area of a 10 mile radius around the home, Coultier said

.

Bumping where I saw the 10 mile radius mentioned.

Gatekeeper, thanks so much for the link to the mom's facebook page! As time goes by, it seems less likely that the child will be found alive, which I find very sad. He looks like such a beautiful, precious child. Are there any wells in the area (uncapped) that he could have fallen into (or been placed in)? When I was a child, my friends and I played on my grandfather's farmland. There was an open, uncovered well on the land where we played that we were told to avoid so we didn't fall into it. I was afraid to go near it but I can't imagine why someone didn't cover or cap it to make it child safe. Even the cows on the land could have broken a leg in it. I don't know if the Native American land has any old wells but its possible. If so, I hope they have been checked.

I didn't mean to imply AB was abusive or not. Just pointing out we have heard very little about him. Clearly he is the type of person who takes chances and worries about the consequences later. In reality that describes all criminal behavior.

Does anyone know how many miles Carnel's home is from the Chippewa land in Midland, MI, where the nature center and hiking trails are and the pond and swamp land with the boardwalk? Also, how far is his home from Saginaw in miles, does anyone know?

I have been somewhat following this story but I'm concerned with the timeline. Has anyone other than the boyfriend confirmed that Carnel was in the pool at the time he said he was. I think there is the assumption that whatever happened to Carnel happened closer to the end of Jaimees shift and the time she would be expected home. I hope they have narrowed the timeframe down somewhat because if he disappeared shortly after Jaimee left than there is a window of nearly six hours. Carnel could be anywhere at this point if this is really what occurred.

This is what I have been contemplating. Establishing that window helps to narrow the search.

The child's mother, 21-year-old Jaimee Chamberlain, said her son was nowhere to be found when she returned home Thursday night from her job at a restaurant at the Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort, The Morning Sun newspaper reported. It is not clear who, if anyone, was watching the boy at the time of his disappearance.

So are the stories changing now from AB was watching him to "I don't know who was watching him"? I would like to know who, other than Mom and AB, were the last people to see this child alive. There are just so many possibilities in this case.

I'm wondering if the bf got home to find Mom (unexpectedly early) and claimed he ran out for a minute leaving Carnel home alone. He got back and Carnel was gone.

I understand completely. I guess some are just really tired of this same old scenario. It is like the exact same script over and over. Young single mom meets ex-felon as he is released from prison, gives him a key to the apartment, and soon he is watching her babies while she goes to work at the late shift. Then baby is beaten or killed or raped or neglected or ...whatever.

So it is not fair to dump all of our frustrations upon her, but it is really frustrating to see this exact same situation repeat itself over and over. kwim?
exactly.....
