I tried reaching out to channel 4 and Monroe news to see if they were streaming but did not get a response. I have several family members and friends in Monroe County that hoped to be on the jury. I really hope it is streamed or I might be dragging someone down there with me one day.

I'm guessing there will be nothing today since it is jury selection? It seems they are hoping for opening statements tomorrow so maybe that is when they would be able to stream?

I heard back from the local newspaper ...No livestream. :maddening:

"the media instructions for this trial include no livestreaming. There will be photos and reporting, just not live feeds."

-Clay sat quietly and calmly at the defense table, while family of the victim did the same in a back row of the gallery. At least one member of Clay’s family was also present this morning.

-
The final jury will include 14 members, with two being alternates. Judge Daniel White said the trial is estimated to take about seven days with a scheduled daylong break Friday.

-
In previous court proceedings, the judge and attorneys expressed concern about being able to seat an impartial jury after extensive media coverage of the case leading up to trial. Judge White in February denied a motion by the defense to move the trial to a new venue, pending the ability to seat a jury.

-
[
jurors questioned about any preconceived opinions they may have about the case and their ability to set any aside and make a judgment based solely on the evidence and testimony presented; were asked about their understanding of erotic asphyxiation

-
Mr. Roehrig told jurors the case will include violent content, vulgar language, and disturbing images, which Judge White indicated were of skeletal remains.

-[One prospective juror was a classmate of Miss Bruck, considered her more an acquaintance than someone she knew.]

- [after seating a jury, there will be a hearing on a motion that was delayed, from Friday's hearing].

If any of you decide to go say as a group, let me know. Maybe I can shoot over the border. I have Family not too far in Michigan so may be able to tie it in with a Family visit.

Forensic scientist: “Both Chelsea Bruck and Daniel Clay could not be excluded as being contributors to the DNA from the leotard,” Young said.

Trace evidence specialist: leaf that was recovered from where Bruck’s body was found matched the costume. She also discussed the tearing of the costume.

Deputy medical examiner Hlavaty: She said she found fractures on Bruck's face and head, and talked about the specific fractures near the nose, eyes and jaw. She said there were also two chipped or broken teeth.Hlavaty said the condition of the body was what they would expect of a body that had been exposed through decomposition or scavenging of animals.

Hlavaty said it would take 20-30 seconds for a person to lose consciousness if being choked during rough sex. She said it takes two to two-and-a-half more minutes of constant pressure to die by strangulation.

“During the [police] interview, detectives obtained details that only the killer would have known as this information had never been disseminated to the public,” Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said

One woman said someone close to her was murdered years ago. Chief Assistant Prosecutor Michael G. Roehrig asked her if she could be objective in the Clay trial.
“Do you believe you can be fair and impartial?” Mr. Roehrig asked.
“I’m not sure,” the woman responded. “I’ll try.”
She was excused.
A panel of 14 jurors is expected to be seated by the end of today, but the process can last longer. As many as 200 potential jurors filled several courtrooms. Those not in Circuit Judge Michael A. Weipert’s courtroom watched the proceedings on a television monitor.

University of Detroit Mercy law professor Larry Dubin says Clay’s team will likely be looking to select young men for the jury.

“When you’re probably looking for as a defense lawyer would be a strong juror who, under the worst of circumstances, can perhaps hold out on a guilty verdict,” Dubin told WWJ’s Sandra McNeill. “And that certainly might be a man, a male who is not married and possibly more open to the concept of reasonable doubt.”
