squirrel, I didn't see a jacket, but Clay had glasses peeking out of a shirt pocket when he entered the court. Thanks for being there, and for your update.

Thank you everyone for caring and for joining in thoughts/prayers for justice.

I was not in court today, so I have no updates to offer other than what you've already read from the reporters who were present. I just wanted to say thank you.

It's been quite awhile since I read Chelsea's thread and I have been following the updates. I remember Chelsea spending a lot of time on her costume and I'm very glad the prosecution has brought up the point that Chelsea would not want her hard efforts destroyed. The other piece today that stood out for me was the partygoer that testified that Chelsea approached him in tears that her ride had left. I must have overlooked that if it had previously been mentioned in MSM or the thread. That tugged at my heartstrings.
Thank you to those that are providing trial coverage.

no thank-you needed, luv. we have been here from the beginning, and are determined to see this all the way through. this family has been a major part of my life and thoughts/prayers since October 2014 --- they have been such a model of grace under enormous pressures. You take care to treat yourself gently and know we are here for you.

I do appreciate your kind words and the post. :grouphug:

I wrote a thank-you to our tweeter, Alex Mester at The Blade.. This is the nice reply I got back:

Thank you so much. And thanks for understanding the difficulty of live tweeting a court case like this; it's sometimes confusing and I can't promise I'll be able to keep up like I was today when the experts and more critical witnesses are called, but I will try.

Alex

Chelsea's past not allowed to be introduced; defense says it is crucial info.

http://www.monroenews.com/news/20170509/judge-disallows-chelseas-past-into-trial

During the second day of the murder trial, Mr. Smith said in court that he was planning to provide testimony regarding Ms. Bruck’s past sexual behavior. He told Judge White that his intent was not to shame her reputation, but rather to help prove his case that Mr. Clay accidentally killed Ms. Bruck by erotic asphyxiation.
“It does give the essence of the crux of my defense,” he told the judge. “This would deny his right to a fair trial.”

[Chelsea's mom]. "I'm just standing there going, how are we ever going to find her in this green costume in a field of green and I just stood there and screamed, then I just started calling her name," said Leanndra Bruck, the victim's mother. She talked about desperately searching for her daughter in the days after she disappeared.

I'm really surprised that Clay is going to testify. Most attorneys discourage clients from taking the stand because they can easily be tripped up by sharp opposing counsel. He must have quite the story to tell ;)
Just like Arron Lewis. Like I said before, something about talking about pornographic type things in court excites these guys. It's another form of control. The good news is that Arron sealed his own fate with his testimony. This guy will, too.

Updates from this morning and from yesterday:
http://www.toledoblade.com/Courts/2017/05/10/Testimony-under-way-in-Chelsea-Bruck-murder-trial.html

Eric Kassab was searching for scrap metal with a friend at an abandoned industrial site on Peters Road in Flat Rock, Mich., on March 28 or 29, 2015. He found a piece of clothing he initially believed was an artificial plant, but his friend identified as a costume of Poison Ivy, a villain from the Batman comic series.
“I ended up picking it up trying to figure out what it was because it was out of place compared to what else was in the building because most of it was metal and brick,” Mr. Kassab said.
The pair was unaware of Miss Bruck’s disappearance and left the costume behind. A few days later, Mr. Kassab saw a flyer at work for the missing woman describing the costume. He later reported his earlier discovery and met deputies from the sheriff’s department at the Flat Rock site April 5, 2015.
UPDATES FROM THE COURTROOM: Follow Blade reporter Alex Mester on Twitter at @alexmesterblade
Mr. Kassab said he delayed reporting the find because he and his friend were worried their DNA would be on the costume after handling it and didn’t want to get into trouble for possibly trespassing on the property.
The shoe, wig, dark-colored tights, and a jug-shaped wine bottle Miss Bruck reportedly filled with red wine were shown in court. The leaf-covered leotard was not, though Chief Assistant Prosecutor Michael Roehrig told the jury during opening statements that it was bloodstained and severed at both shoulder straps and at the crotch.
