I could tell he had been approaching other people. I don't care if he needed a dollar....go ask a man! I suppose he expected 2 pretty ladies to be naive and sympathetic. No. I mind my business and creeps can do the same. I'm only 5'4" but I wanted to be an FBI agent ... mama didn't raise no fool.

I never felt in danger in Northern Michigan like I do down here. Creeps everywhere.

It may be time to relocate. Too many areas have gone down the drain.

I'm slowly watching my area start to change as well. But don't have the means to just sell mortgaged home and start over somewhere else.

I very much want to go back to Michigan...I miss my family so much...and Michigan is wonderful for so many reasons.

Still, Danielle's case has shown me how much even Michigan has declined. Detroit, Saginaw and Flint used to be the major crime centers. Never Farmington Hills. My mom and sister live in Muskegon and it's bad there, too (Jessica Heeringa).

The more I read on here, the more paranoid I get. It's probably not a bad thing, since I feel I have been living pretty careless and way too trusting. Now of course everyone I see, I think is a creep with people locked in their yards..ok maybe a bit much. But I leave my stuff in my car. Run upstairs to get something. Leave early in the morning while it's dark out. Ok, so probably nothing out of the ordinary, but after reading stories, people would have a field day if I ever went missing. I should leave a disclaimer now that my browser history, where I leave items, what I'm wearing (nobody would have a clue), what is missing (nobody would have a clue), etc., is not a clue to what happened to me. Ha!

Anyways, last summer I was in our apt parking lot loading the back of a pickup truck for a camping trip (so I was standing in the back attempting to move things around). I noticed a car pull in a few spots down and just sit there. I was busy rushing trying to organize everything, plus it was super hot out, that I paid no attention. I had that feeling of someone around and realized that the guy was just sitting in the car watching me. He never got out, kept pretending to look away, and I couldn't recall seeing him around before, but it's not like I would know everyone. I thought maybe he was a maintenance man so I continued to ignore him and he very well could have been. I started feeling weird but didn't want to go up to the apartment so he would see where I lived so I hoped he would just go away. I think I started closing up the truck like I was going to leave or someone drove by and he randomly drove away from the building toward the back. I told my boyfriend later and of course he just laughs b/c of all the stories he knows I follow. But then I kept seeing this car in the future weeks just randomly keep going by and him watching me/the building/etc.

I'm sure I was just being paranoid, but why would that stick out in my mind? I never noticed him really after that but ugh!!!

“We called police after we drove over there and found our daughter’s car locked, with all her personal belongings ― her purse, money, identification and credit cards ― inside,” Ann Stislicki said.

That seems odd to me.

Don't want to get too far off topic, but IMO the failure to prosecute those providing the channels for trafficking is a major contributor to the rise of it here in the US. Ironic that the loophole is called The Communications Decency Act. SMH

A California judge rejected pimping charges on Friday against the operators of a major international website advertising escort services that the state attorney general has called the “world’s top online brothel”, citing federal free speech laws.
California attorney general Kamala Harris had charged Backpage.com chief executive Carl Ferrer and former owners Michael Lacey and James Larkin, but Sacramento County superior court judge Michael Bowman sided with attorneys for the men and the website in ruling that the speech was allowed under the federal Communications Decency Act.

Harris, a Democrat who was elected to the US Senate last month, alleged that more than 90% of Backpage revenue – millions of dollars each month – comes from adult escort ads that use coded language and nearly nude photos to offer sex for money.
She said in a statement that she disagreed with the court’s ruling and will pursue every avenue under the law to hold the operators accountable.
“The Communications Decency Act was not meant to be a shield from criminal prosecution for perpetrators of online brothels,” Harris said in the statement.
“We will not turn a blind eye to the defendants’ exploitative behavior simply because they conducted their criminal enterprise online rather than on a street corner.”

I was assume that's how they recognize some of the victims. I let myself venture to a particular site that is frequently tied to this such thing and oh my...I feel so sheltered. :gaah:

Yes. If you learn to be vigilant, watch everything and be aware of your surroundings, people won't be able to surprise you. And I don't let people get in my space. I can read people easily and get instant gut feelings about them, which helps. I'm not afraid to be rude to someone who gives me the creeps ... it's kept me alive so far.

When that man crept from the shadows between those vehicles, all I could think about was Ted Bundy approaching women, feigning injury or needing assistance of some kind. No way, Jose.

What do you find odd? That they drove over before calling LE? thanks!

No. The fact her stuff was locked up in her vehicle. To me, it says she may have planned to run into her apartment maybe just to get something, and then leave again. Leaving me to think she may have been interrupted at some point.

The DS has an interesting message from a guy (RF) that thinks he saw her: The post is 13 days old and from what I can tell from reading other comments is that he did call to report this to LE. Plausible?

This was investigated and found not to be her

I just took the time to read the Google reviews on the IG Apartments. I found many comments to be positive but an equal amount to be negative. While quite a few stood out, these two really caught my attention:

Lived here for a year, November 08 thru December09. Worst mistake I ever made. I was offered to buy drugs in the parking lot at least once a week. Never, ever move here. No matter how good the deal may seem, this place is a DUMP!

From a month ago: Maintenance is quick to respond, but doesn't announce their arrival.

I moved to SE Michigan 9 years ago. In that time I have noticed what I would call a significant increase in crime in Livonia and Farmington Hills. 9 years ago both of these cities were considered extremely safe with very low crime rates. That is no longer the case, IMO.

He also has an alert for non compliance .

It's supposed to be freakishly warm on Monday in these parts...upper 50's. All the snow will be gone.

I posted last thread that maybe Holocene could tell the family about CUE and ask for their involvement. I think her name is Michelle that started it but she is like a dog with a bone and her searches are legendary.

Do you mean Monica Caison?

But it doesn't seem like she fits his "type". Also, since he has the non compliance, this may not be an up-to-date address.

What if the man who approached AtomicAngela was really looking for Danielle? But why? Did someone send him? Who in Danielle's life would do this?

Theory 1: A new boyfriend with something big to hide? Danielle becomes pregnant and shares the good news with the new boyfriend who is secretly married......

Theory 2: Danielle had incriminating information about someone in her personal life and they wanted to silence her.

Theory 3: Danielle's job title at work was as a consultant, but was really working to protect the company by uncovering fraud. She was onto something big...and was found out.

Theory 4: Human trafficking.

Theory 5: Danielle was at the wrong place at the wrong time and met with a random act of foul play.
