MI MI - Jasmine Moody, 18, Detroit, 4 December 2014

Just seen her story on nbc news. But the ghetto of Detroit makes it hard to simply say her female friend did it.

Very sad case.

Three years later, still no leads in case of 19-year-old missing college student Jasmine Moody
Detroit Police Officer Mike Pacteles led the investigation into Jasmine’s disappearance. He told Dateline he immediately noticed something strange.

“I found her cellphone, I.D., jacket, purse, and all her personal belongings inside Brittany’s house,” he told Dateline. “It's definitely not normal for a 19-year-old girl to walk away without those things.”

And in that weather, the jacket being left behind was particularly concerning.

“With the wind-chill, it was probably below zero degrees that night. And there was snow on the ground,” Officer Pacteles said. “So she was not dressed for the conditions.”

What a coincidence! When I noticed that the Jasmine Moody thread had been bumped, I thought someone had seen this article and posted it. Every time I read/hear something about a body found on Detroit's east side, I'm inclined to think about the as of yet-unsolved case of Jasmine Moody. While it's unlikely that an easily-identifiable female body could be Jasmine who's been missing for some time, I haven't forgotten about this young woman who disappeared under very strange circumstances.

I’ve always had suspicions of the friend....

Ditto. I think they were intimately involved and that the relationship had soured. I always thought that Jasmine made the trip to Detroit to break up with the friend and that her demise was the result of a jealous rage. :moo:

I think of Jasmine too and looked for her thread here yesterday, wondering if there had been any updates. I can't help but think that policing resources are likely strained in this city, and that her case has been shelved. So sad in every way.

Me too I had an entire file on Jasmine and Brittany and sent stuff to the PD

As grim as it is after 4 years she wouldn't be a body

There's be a skeleton, often it is referred to as a "body" by those finding it. Just as a side note, burning the body doesn't really change insect colonization or decomp. Texas A & M Entomology department did some research on that . (Google that if you're not squeamish about some seriously charred test chickens.)

Just found this UID: Unidentified Person Case

Age is off by a couple of years...but I may submit for comparison since she is not listed as an exclusion.

Roughly 12 miles from where she was last seen. Google Maps link: Google Maps

Quoting myself.....I did submit a request for a comparison of the UID to Jasmine to the Regional Program Specialist and received this response:

Thank you for your submission, we appreciate your time and support.

NamUs staff will review the submitted information. Additionally, we will notify the investigating agencies for their consideration if the agencies have not been previously notified.

Please note, identification and exclusions are only made and/or confirmed by investigating agencies. The results of comparisons may or may not be made available to the public for investigatory reasons.
