That man is a friend of Jeffery Willis'. Why would he cover and lie for him? Did Willis say he was innocent and asked his friend to lie or is the friend involved in more than just a cover up?
From Wood8:
According to court records, Bluhm was being interviewed at his home by Michigan State Police on May 18 when police say he lied about the last time he saw Willis and whether Willis was in possession of a handgun.

Very interesting. You have to wonder if he knew JW was up to no good. Not sure why else you'd lie about this stuff to LE up front.

Also, from the link above:
Bluhm is a sergeant at the West Shoreline Correctional Facility in Muskegon, however, he was placed on unpaid suspension Friday. He’s expected to be back in court for a probable cause hearing on June 28 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 5.

After his arrest, Umlor says she started connecting the dots linking her cousin to the 2013 disappearance of Herringa from the Norton Shores gas station where she worked.

“I would like to see him open up and tell us,” she said.

Willis had a job at the Herman Miller factory less than five miles from the gas station where Heeringa worked the night shift. Umlor says Willis would stop in during breaks to chat and smoke with Heeringa.

Is anyone else wondering whether Willis acted with his cousin?

It crossed my mind. I can also think of a reason for him to lie and not be involved, but I'm struggling to put it into words. Probably a sign I should go to bed!

A Muskegon County district judge has set a high bond for prison corrections officer Kevin Lavern Bluhm on Bluhm's charge of lying to police about his cousin Jeffrey Thomas Willis's involvement in the disappearance of Jessica Heeringa.

Muskegon County District Judge Andrew Wierengo III set bond at $100,000 cash or surety Tuesday afternoon, June 21, at Bluhm's arraignment on his second lying- to-police case. That's a maximum four-year felony.

I'm really starting to wonder now.

Prosecutor Matt Roberts says Bluhm has admitted lying to police in all three investigations when asked about Willis. He says the details are “significant.” The Muskegon Chronicle says bond was set at $100,000.

If he was involved, maybe he used his skills as a prison guard to pose as a cop to lure potential victims.

The cousin lied about seeing Willis with a gun and about seeing him in early May - instead claiming that he hadn't seen Willis for at least a year. Those are odd things to lie about if there is nothing to hide. I doubt that he was lying to protect Willis, because police would already know if Willis had a gun.

I agree. In light of what came out today, I am obviously thinking differently about this cousin. Really curious to know what this information is that he knew about the Heeringa case that hasn't been revealed to the public.
