Keep in mind Jessica is very small (5'1", 110lbs). Easy for someone to grab, even though she's been described as scrappy and a fighter. It's likely she was caught off guard and froze for a moment. If there was a weapon involved, that's a game changer. I hate typing this and I hate thinking about it, but have heard too many accounts of abductions where the victim gets put into a big container so they can't get move or see where they're going, often gagged and bound. This would allow the abductor to drive without having to control her.

Ugh.

I understand. That's why I was saying. During the whole scene I don't think he had that much time to do it in the first place. JMO

Yea he could have knocked her out. But what's to say that she'd stay that way the entire length of the trip? I saw case studies on chloroform and it said "enough to knock you out will only keep you unconscious for only a few minutes (unless re-applied)" IMO he had to forcefully subdue her at some point in time to make the rest of the trip which would include a need to stop.
There are a multitude of ways the perp could have forced her in the car and kept her from breaking out or attacking him. I don't want to get in to them in detail but could include drugged, knocked out, restrained, etc. Pray they find the SOB and that she is still unharmed.

I sure hope that LE and/or MSP, FBI have more information than is being reported publicly because there seems to be a lack of reliable information in this case, i.e. one report says that there was no struggle while another suggests that Jessica struggled with someone near the alleged van. :banghead:

Those of us who have followed the case from the beginning have read articles and listened to various media reports, but there are a lot of inconsistencies in what is being reported as fact. I believe that much of what we've heard is speculation and/or media spokesperson interpretation of what has been said to them during the course of conversations with those involved in the investigation. I would like LE to have a news conference and provide specific information about what is known about the circumstances surrounding Jessica's disappearance. :moo:

Police said a passerby saw the van parked near the gas station, and then it drove away, reports MLive.
Police are describing the driver of the van as a white male, between 30 and 40 years old, about six feet tall, with a medium to heavy build and broad shoulders. The driver had light brown or sandy blonde wavy hair and was last seen wearing a bright red or orange sweatshirt, reports MLive.

LE is identifying the witness only as a passerby. Apparently, they are taking the witnesses sighting seriously and have released the description of a suspect. In another article, or maybe it was a PC video, LE explained that they are not releasing a sketch of the suspect because there have been 3 different witness sightings and while all of the sightings have commonalities, there are also differences in the descriptions, making a composite sketch difficult.

Anyone who is wondering about the employee witness, I did not see it on FB. She was interviewed Saturday or Sunday and I watched the interview online. I am at work and can't look it up, but I'm sure someone has the link? It would have been fox17, woodtv or wzzm13 most likely.

Police will tell you that often eye witness reports are the least reliable.

I encountered this first hand when witnessing a road rage incident last week. I could not recall the exact details of the perp's height and weight, his clothing, the make of car, etc. Good thing I remembered the license plate number however and the car was older model similar to one my parents had years ago. Another witness thought he was 4" taller than what I thought.

Any word on who the 3 dif witnesses are? Would this be the coworker, her husband, and some 3rd person we haven' t heard about? Or is the customer who called 911 the 3rd witness?

The scanner thread is pretty much talking to yourself. :giggle:
You post what you hear on the scanner, especially if it might be relevant to the case.

You will mostly be talking to yourself here as well since it's the middle of the night.
However, people will read what you wrote in the morning.
Then they will be able to catch up on what they missed. :seeya:

In the Boston bomber case we heard the whole thing go down on the scanner.
It was INTENSE. I cancelled dinner. My poor kids. :scared:

o/t ~ Listening to the scanner the day they were searching for terrorist #2 was the most exciting real time event of brave responders (all of them!) I've ever been that close to (via scanner). It kept me on the edge of my seat for several hours. When LE lifted the ban for staying inside, my heart sank, and then I signed out to make dinner. The TV was still on and, thank God, shortly thereafter he was found in the boat. It turned out a good decision to lift the ban.

It was so funny to be hearing about the robots frisking people, the dogs sniffing for bombs and then, all of a sudden, to hear, "need an escort for the lunch truck"!

That was an intense day and you got a good idea how they are being pulled in so many directions at one time, the coordination that's involved, the time it takes to clear a single suspect, etc. It was exciting indeed!

No. I'm looking for the video and the video of the witness interview you mentioned but not having any luck. So, just forget about the inconsistencies in description. I'm finding in most reports only mention of the one.

This is probably the reason why LE isn't releasing a sketch of the alleged perp. There are inconsistencies from eye witnesses regarding the description of the individual.

If nobody has that witness interview link, I will look for it tonight when I get home. It drives me crazy, though, the way stories are updated and moved around by the news stations and then they have changed when you go looking for them again. I hope this story is still intact online. I might have even bookmarked it on my home computer.

Police still searching for silver minivan in Jessica Heeringa's disappearance

Detroit Free Press Staff Writer

Four days after a young mother went missing from her job at a gas station on the state’s west side, police are continuing to search for the only known clue to her disappearance: a silver minivan.

Authorities are hoping to find the driver of that minivan — described as about 30-40 years old and wearing a bright red or orange shirt — seen at the Exxon Mobil on Sternberg in Norton Shores around the time 25-year-old Jessica Heeringa vanished...

omg my friggen nook...can someone go to fox17 and post link to suspect drawing please!

Most cases are like this. The initial information is sketchy and as days go by and more information is release, we get a clearer picture of the facts. Problem is, that sometimes MSM doesn't get their own stories but gets them from other news outlets, then changes words to put their own spin on it, which changes the way we interpret the information.

I've been reading this thread for 3 days and boy, some of the misinterpretations of the information has been glaring, then repeated until it becomes a new fact when in fact it was misinterpreted in the beginning. My head was spinning. JMO
