Investigators are working to find out if a person arrested in connection to an attempted abduction in Michigan's Muskegon County is linked to the case of Jessica Heeringa, who has been missing for more than three years.

Heeringa, a gas station clerk, went missing April 26, 2013 right before she was set to close the Exxon Mobile station on Sternberg Road in Norton Shores, near Muskegon.

According to a report from WOODTV, a 16-year-old girl's description of an attempted abduction on April 16 this year involves a silver minivan which matches the description of the vehicle seen in the area when Heeringa went missing back in 2013. Moreover, the teen's description of the minivan's driver matches the one provided by police in the Heeringa investigation: a white male between 30 and 40 years old...

MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – A large law-enforcement team remains on the scene Tuesday afternoon of a Muskegon County residence where a search warrant is being administered.

The homeowner in the 1800 block of South Sheridan Drive, where the search is taking place, is listed as Jeffrey T. Willis, who is being held in the county jail under suspicion of kidnapping.

A silver Dodge Caravan minivan has been seized by police, according to Muskegon County Sheriff Dean Roesler.

Was just coming to post a link but you guys are fast! :o) Suspect photo has some resemblances to the sketch and the van is similar. Interested to see where this goes.

Many thanks to all of you for your posts I just got the email alerts with the news updates and came straight here. I'm trying not to get my hopes up but thought there might be more to this when I posted the initial story about the attempted abduction last month. It just fits the FBI profile it's the best lead they have I would imagine. Thanks to all of you for caring about Jessica's case and your dedication to finding out what happened to her.

Any news updates are greatly appreciated many thanks. Jessica's family and son are in my prayers as they wait for any news.

I hope this turns out to provide some answers. I really do hope that they caught the right person and her family can get some closure. Maybe this will prevent more people from being abducted too since there have been so many attempts in the area. Unfortunately my 14 year old niece's bus stop is near where one attempt was made so now my mom waits there until they are on the bus and is waiting there when they get off in the afternoon.

Link now says "The Muskegon County sheriff said Tuesday that despite reports, a person arrested in connection to an attempted abduction in his county is not linked to the case of Jessica Heeringa, who has been missing for more than three years"

:( I wish they would have a break in this case!!

That's a great great pity but thanks for posting this update. I'm glad this guy is off the streets though hopefully for as long as possible.

It is terrible your mom is forced to do this to keep your niece safe but it's entirely understandable. I'm glad this guy is off the streets too.

"Is not linked" could just mean they haven't found a link yet, IMO. LE may not have intended to leak that they were looking at him for Jessica's case, and so this is their way of backing off of the news from earlier today. I would expect them to say something like, "We have ruled him out as a potential suspect in Jessica's case," if they were done looking at him.

Where did you read it is not linked? In this article it says they don't know yet.

I'm going to go out on a limb an predict this is the guy. Just my opinion. He looks similar. I wonder if he wears contacts too? His eyes are close together, his upper lip up to his nose looks nearly identical. He looks a little pudgy too similar to the report on JH abductor. Plus he has a silver minivan.

Not the same minivan.

Not the same minivan.
OK. Didn't see that report. I suppose he could have gotten rid of the other van if he was the perpetrator. Too much risk of finding forensics

Well witnesses have been wrong before. They may have had a photo line up of vans to point to and chose the wrong model. Praying this is a break in the case

The sketch could definitely be a match though!

Did Willis have longer hair over last few years like sketch?

According to all local reports (not counting Detroit, as Detroit is not "local")....Mr. Willis has not been ruled out as a suspect. At this time they are looking for links. This morning on the local TV station (WoodTV8, Grand Rapids), Investigators are looking at the house and property of Mr. Willis's deceased grandfather.

I think he looks like the sketch of the suspect in Jessica's case, if you take in to consideration it has been 3 years since the sketch was drawn. The van is so very similar also...

Also, his house address is quite close to the mall/gas station area where Jessica was abducted (look on map).

I just have a funny feeling that this is the same guy......but, could be wrong.

Thanks...and also see links I posted in the newpaper links section.......there is a new one this morning from Grand Rapids Wood TV8 that is really interesting.
