Great find and deductions both Spellbound and Sherlock 221! I had a son that had a double umbilical cord ....literally two (not the double vein, i know kind of confusing) and he was born and an indentation under his left nipple. I would suppose he has chimera DNA??? I don't know how you could find that out... Well DNA or the parents, I doubt if it was in any records available. I only knew because the nurse told me the name of it and I still trying to look for it 23 years later...ugh.

Or... The killer is overconfident and leaves the latex gloves with dna knowing he won't be found cause he hates the police and thing they are stupid? Proving with it that they are if they didn't consider it in the first place! Killers like this adore attention. They feed on it. It won't be long untill he kills again. Nice articles you have found about dna chimeras Spellbound, but i still would like to go with bone marrow transplant, gives us a better chance of finding him.
Isn't transfer DNA mire likely than any of the other scenarios? The donor of the complete DNA profile could have shaken hands with someone and picked up some skin cells. It doesn't sound like the DNA in the gloves is from blood, so I think that would rule out the bone-marrow-transplant scenario.

That's the point, we don't know what did the police find inside the gloves. Bone marrow is in the scenario where his blood was in the gloves of course. I am just suggesting. There is also a scenario where it is a chimera dna. Anyways all I am doing is suggesting scenarios where the police could find the killer, chimera dna and bone marrow dna is a 100% confirmation of the killer. Shaken hands and skin cells won't really help the investigation now would it? Imagine if the police checks for a bone marrow vasectomy person in the medical records and find him. They can continue the investigation with a new lead. Even if it's a chimera dna , it could be found in the medical records, i just stated the post before that if it's a chimera the dna's should match as "siblings". Or it's a bone marrow scenario, or it's neither. As i said i wish i am right, and i hope they check for it, trojan should offer them this, it's not like they are moving forward it's been 5 years...

Whether we are onto something helpful or not, it feels good to finally have another possibility to investigate. It has felt like we have been dragging along for such a long time. In this day and age, we have so many more resources at hand. Just maybe this will lead to a suspect. One can surely hope.

Sincerely appreciate the fresh thinking. Julia and her family deserve justice.

Everyone should be well aware that the police can not just go and check medical records without a court order. Without a good probable cause argument, a judge will not sign for the warrant. There are so many "privacy" laws that are designed to protect everyone from senseless searches. I have to get permission from my wife to even discuss her records with anyone. They usually require the permission with a signed letter or form from her.
I appreciate everyone's help and possible theories and I do not want to discourage anyone from sharing your ideas with us. We want Justice for Julia and who knows, the least little thing could lead to the case being solved. Thanks again everyone.

Do You know how easy it is to get a warrant for it? At least for the police, all they need is a good reason. So, you talked to the police, or you are aware how it all goes, doesn't matter. The point is, the police is out of options, and the case probably won't be solved anyways since they aren't doing anything about it. There's a reason why it's called a "cold case" , because the police is done, period. Make them(YPD) think again, don't lose hope Trojan. I didn't mean to offend you or your hope, I just want you to fight for Julia's justice, because you are the only one left, who does.

All gratitude goes to you Trojan, for you patience and resolve. Your continued contributions toward ways to pinpoint who did this to Julia as you consider every little thing, gives me great hope. Know you're not alone at all.

Ok Sherlock, you are a fresh pair of eyes and have read the thread.
Who do you think committed this murder, and motive?

Right on! Glad to see some good movement in this thread.

I don’t think the police have quit working on this, though it is probably not a high priority as new cases come in. Ypsi area is very riddled with crimes and short on staff, as so many departments are these days. As for a warrant, they have to have probable cause of criminal activity ... so even if this latest info can be investigated further, they would have to have a reason to link it to a particular person.

So ... do we know anyone who might have double DNA? Anyone who may have had a major surgical procedure that called for a transfusion? What else?

All of those things, plus a male who had a vasectomy. That fact right there I feel like helps narrow down the age range because a vasectomy is not typical in younger men.

Did she have a box of these gloves in her apartment, or did the murderer bring them?

We don't know that detail, but it's a very good question. I think she occasionally helped her step-father with cleaning jobs. If I'm right on that, it's possible she had some gloves like that. However, it would certainly make sense that the Perp brought them to conceal evidence. There are folks who believe the gloves were intentionally planted. I don't believe that. I think perhaps he dropped them at some point making a hasty exit...when maybe a roomie was returning, or?

Something troublesome to me is the fact that she lived in a first floor appartment. Which could suggest that she could have been ambushed by some peeping tom perp who might have been hiding in the bushes waiting for her to get her appartment door open, and then maybe forced his way inside.

I just started reading about this case so go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong. I know cleaning people wear these gloves, but I would think she would have kept them in her car.

Welcome, Ibiz. There was no force entry. Cleaning gloves are usually yellow, the gloves found in her apartment were white ( surgical gloves ) to clarify.

Ok, well, I would think the perp would have waited to get outside before removing the gloves. So is it possible that he was wearing two pairs, and before leaving he removed one pair, and thought he was slipping them into his pocket, but they fell on the floor?

Well can I tell You a quote from Sherlock Holmes books?" It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts." So, then You should realize that he took a pillow case, probably to put stuff like the rope he used to bind her, and parts of her clothes, so yes, I can actually agree with You, he forgot them, You can see my theory in past posts.

Yes, suggesting that he forget them yes, but what I'm really suggesting is that he may have been wearing two pairs of gloves. After all, how did he get out of the appartment without leaving finger prints?

If so, is it possible that the gloves he wore over the others were used gloves that he picked out of a garbage can in order to draw suspicion away from himself?

EBM

Not just folks, FBI behavioral analysts.

Why would a perp who took his time committing the crime and who was careful enough to wear gloves be careless enough to drop them? If he had actually been wearing them, why would he take them off before leaving? I don't believe the perp ever wore or even touched the gloves; I think he probably either swiped them from a doctor's office (or wherever) or bought them just to plant them.

I don't believe the DNA profile on either glove belongs to the perp.

I'd say there's a 90% chance James Turnquist is the perp, but 90% certainty isn't enough for an arrest.
