I find it interesting that Crime Stoppers increased the cash reward for information that would lead to an arrest to $22,500 on August 2 and charges were filed on August 7. I wonder if one of the reluctant witnesses came forward or if it was just coincidence?

A Detroit man accused in the 2023 fatal shooting of a Detroit neurosurgeon found in a Boston-Edison home was formally charged Thursday and ordered returned to jail, where he has been since May after being charged in the killing of another person.

Desmond Burks, 34, was arraigned in 36th District Court in Detroit on multiple charges in connection with Devon Hoover's death, including first-degree murder, felony murder, larceny of $20,000 or more, three counts of using a firearm during the commission of a felony and being a felon in possession of a firearm, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said.

Authorities allege Burks killed Hoover in April 2023 and stole about $30,000 and two watches worth more than $6,000 each from his home.

A magistrate ordered Burks held without bond and scheduled his next court hearing for Aug. 15, officials said...

But it does look like they had their suspect almost from the get-go.. so why so many states, countries, people etc were involved in the case?

As DB had been in some kind of relationship with the dr, he could have said he had used the car before the day of the murder, the same with any fingerprints and other DNA in the house, as well as other evidence. The police must prove that DB had killed the dr and stolen items from him, that the watches and money hadn't been "gifts" given to DB.

As DB had been in some kind of relationship with the dr, he could have said he had used the car before the day of the murder, the same with any fingerprints and other DNA in the house, as well as other evidence. The police must prove that DB had killed the dr and stolen items from him, that the watches and money hadn't been "gifts" given to DB.

yeah... I see how the perhaps intimate parts of their relationship could pre-define the evidence.
Expecially, if he was the guy they held at the beginning.

At first, I remember thinking that the way he was carried to the attic, and wrapped... might have been a sign of intimacy gone awry. It is so disconcerting to witness his great reputation sullied by these evil circumstances.
