I asked the defense attorney for Jeffrey Willis if his client got a fair trial. His answer may surprise you. Tonight @WOODTV #WillisOnTrial – at 14th Circuit Court (Muskegon County Circuit Court)

Even though Jeffrey Willis was convicted today, his defense attorney says he got justice. @ReporterBartonD reports:

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — The man who defended Jeffrey Willis in the murder trial that started three weeks ago, Fred Johnson, is a respected criminal defense attorney who helped shape the Muskegon County Office of the Public Defender. He saw the defense claim that Jeffrey Willis’ cousin actually murdered Rebekah Bletsch get no play from the jury.

A Michigan man is facing life in prison without parole after he was found guilty of murdering a mother while she was jogging.

Jeffrey Willis, 47, wept in court on Thursday after he was convicted of shooting and killing Rebekah Bletsch, 36, in Muskegon County on June 29, 2014.

Jurors in the case deliberated for nearly two hours before making the final decision Thursday afternoon, following over a week of testimony.

'I've never seen pure evil, but the defendant to me is pure evil,' prosecutor D.J. Hilson told jurors during the court hearing, according to the Detroit Free Press.

I’m glad the monster is suffering misery but it’s nothing compared to what he has done to the victims and their families. I just hope he does the decent thing for once and reveals where Jessica is.

:happydance:

So nice to see the jury get it right in such a short amount of time.

And CFJW... crying with a bible in his hand. Oh Boohoo. GMAFB.

Justice for Rebekah!

We always went deer hunting November 15 with my father. There, are, great hunting areas not too far from where Jessica was abducted. Every year I keep hoping Mother Nature will reveal where she is as hunters fill the wooded areas. Let this be the season she is revealed, dear Lord. Amen.

So glad he was found guilty and so quickly. They didn't see through his crap at all!

Just a reminder that Monster’s sentencing is this Monday 18th of December

This guy's a real ...

Jeffrey Willis walks out of sentencing,
refuses to hear victim's family

MUSKEGON, MI - In an "unprecedented" move, Jeffrey Willis infuriated his murder victim's family by refusing to hear their statements and leaving the courtroom prior to his sentencing Monday.

Willis blew a kiss and responded to outraged members of the court gallery as he was escorted out of the Muskegon County courtroom Dec. 18 where he had been brought to face sentence for murdering Rebekah Bletsch in 2014.

Willis is a coward. His crimes were cowardly: stalking and preying on women who were distressed (the teenager MJ) and unsuspecting (RB, JH). His avoiding these victim impact statements today was yet another cowardly act I am not surprised.

To the family of Rebekah: he cannot hurt Becky, nor you, any more than he already has. Do not give him more power by thinking of his cowardly act today nor even taking an ounce of hurt or anger. The statements read by Becky's friends and family were truly beautiful. Please know her life and courage have touched more people than you will ever know.

I believe the motion to keep Willis in the Muskegon County Jail may come in some part because he is afraid of going to prison. I hope he has reason to be afraid. Prison is a whole different level of daily boredom, deprivation, and fear. I do not see him making friends and getting along well with others; the cowardice he wears will be as obvious to others in prison as it is to all of us who have followed this trial.

Willis has already been moved to Jackson for processing into the Michigan DOC system. The average stay is 30-60 days in 'quarantine' at the Charles Eigler facility there -- prisoners have orientation and various physical and mental evaluations, then he will be placed in Level IV at a state prison somewhere for at least the next year. I am not sure how his planned trial for Jessica's kidnapping and murder will affect his placement.

He knows in the state of Michigan there is nothing more they can do to him, no death penalty, so he is not going to even act contrite.

The Sheriff got you Jeffrey... welcome to your new life...

After Willis' episode at the sentencing hearing when he requested to leave not hearing the victim impact statements & then blew that kiss, the Sheriff recorded the victim impact statements and Willis was made to listen to them on his 145 mile ride to prison...5 times!

I pulled this off the MI DOC OTIS (offender tracking system) so this was taken just as Willis was processed into Jackson. I've never done a picture so I hope it works. His eyes look red and as if he has been crying to me.

Points to the Sheriff. Your life is not your own, JW, and never will be again. Get used to it.

Jeffrey Willis’s appeals have been underway since his sentencings and apparently there has been some activity behind the scenes. I can’t link his case but you can search for them here:
COA Case Search
There are 2 open cases — for Rebekah and Jessica — but the one relevant to Rebekah was filed earlier, on 1/12/2018. It looks like he petitioned for and was granted several extensions — 1 or even 2 extensions are standard for each side, I have been told — but it looks like JW was asking for a 3rd, which was denied. His attorney then filed a brief. Too bad we can’t see the actual briefs.

Willis’s appeal for the murder of Rebekah has failed in the appeals court just like his recent appeal for his conviction of Jessica’s Heeringa’s murder also failed.

I can’t post a link due to GDPR regulations in the U.K that won’t let me view some U.S news websites.
