This is so distressing. Now it’s “several” POIs? I wonder if any camera footage from her unit is just too dark as it was at night, or of the person disguised themself well.

I still think they are waiting for DNA results to confirm the person they suspect is the murderer. Just my hunch, not fact.

The initial Detroit Free Press article said "A trail of blood led to the victim's home, where police said they believe the crime occurred."

DETROIT – Law enforcement continue to investigate the fatal stabbing of Samantha Woll, a well-known leader in Detroit’s Jewish community, but police haven’t provided any case updates in more than a week.

Detroit police said last week that several persons of interest had been identified in the Oct. 21 killing of Woll, but no singular suspect has been publicly identified or charged as of Thursday. Authorities did share some information with the public last week regarding the evidence they’ve uncovered so far.

When authorities held their last news briefing on the case on Oct. 23, Detroit police Chief James White said they must be “very, very careful” with the information the reveal to the public at this stage in the investigation. Pure speculation on my part.

I wonder if the reason DPD are being so cautious is because some of the POIs may be high profile people?

IMO they may be waiting for lab results on DNA, and perhaps other kinds of lab work. Politics may be impacting the investigation. In my personal opinion, the DPD can't rule out anti-Semitic activity so quickly, or any other motive. If it was a robbery, her phone and wallet would be gone. These things weren't taken - although we don't know whether anything was removed from the wallet. Multiple stab wounds are generally a display of great anger, and can indicate a perpetrator close to the victim, but a random or hate-crime attack isn't ruled out. We don't have much to go on.

I hope this crime will be solved...

I'm not sure what is happening here - this is the type of case that usually stays in the news. I am very much hoping it isn't that Detroit PD is in over their head. I say that because a prominent doctor from Detroit was murdered and nothing much has happened for a year. It's not fair or right that prominent people get the most LE resources, but it does say something when a doctor and the president of a synagogue are both brutally murdered and the murders don't appear to be close to being solved.

Dr. Hoover was murdered in April of this year. I am very concerned about DPD's ability to solve either of these two high profile cases. Chief Craig promised an arrest in the Hoover case "before the snow hit the ground". Metro Detroit got varying amounts of snow on Tuesday (Halloween), but I'm not aware of any movement in the case. At one point, DPD seemed confident that they had identified the perpetrator, but the individual was released due to lack of sufficient evidence. Same thing happened in the more recent Woll case. DPD said they were focusing on a small group of possible suspects, one in particular, but there hasn't been an arrest yet.
