Probably to preserve any evidence. I know if the children were to be child witnesses on this case, normally a child stands trial, but because of how it may have impact on them, they may have thought it's best to not let them attend, which would impair their judgement if the case went to trial. Not sure how children are dealt with in the states as child witnesses.

A Detroit motheraccused of killing two of children, whose bodies were found in a freezer,returns to court today and could plead guilty.
· Mitchelle Blair, 36, has indicated she wants toplead guilty to a life offense twice before. Today a judge will decide if shecan.
· Attorneys for defense and prosecution are incourt, Judge Dana Hathaway is on the bench, but Blair is not in the courtroom yet.
· Lawyers are now meeting with Judge Hathaway in chambers.
· Mitchelle Blair is now in the courtroom. Hearing underway.
· Blair wants to plead guilty to two counts:first-degree murder of felony murder of her two children, Stoni and Stephen.
· This is her choice to enter the plea, Blair said.
· Blair: I have no remorse for what i did to Stoni.She said she would do it again.
· She punched Stoni, put a bag over her head,threw hot water on her, kicked her and hit her in the head and back.
· Blair said she did not intend to kill Stephen.
· Blair said she kicked Stephen, burned him with water, burned his genital area, lifted him with a belt around his neck &put bag over head.
· Blair said she gave Stoni just oatmeal and said she is "lucky" she got that.
· Blair said she doesn't regret "any of it." She said she has no remorse for the death of her children who she called "demons."
Wow! This lady is terribly messed up. I really worry about the surviving children. They have no clue what NORMAL is.
