So, Trice got off the highway, 96, at the intersection of 96 and 696, and took the smaller state Hwy 5 to cut diagonally down to 96 again. If his original destination was St Clair Shores, he would have taken 696 east for a quicker ride. Route 5 is a divided highway with tons of businesses. Hopefully, LE is getting cctv footage along this route. Unfortunately, with the holiday, many businesses will be closed Tuesday.
Did he get off the major highway to try and avoid LE or did he have a specific place in mind to leave little Wynter somewhere along this road?

The longer this little one is missing, the more I fear she is not going to be found alive :( There is a lot of territory to cover between Lansing and metro-Detroit. Hopefully, authorities are looking closely at surveillance footage and would notice if or when the little girl was no longer in the vehicle. She wasn't in the car when Trice was apprehended in St. Clair Shores, so where and when was Wynter last seen in the vehicle?

The entire situation is terrifying but that water is what really worries me right now. :(

Police and the FBI are asking drivers to be on the lookout in case they see something unusual on I-96 or I-94.

As for law enforcement officials, it's all hands on deck to find the 2-year-old. They are using drones, a dive team, and even have deputies searching on foot in Lansing near the apartment where Wynter was last seen. So far there is still no trace of the missing toddler.

Close proximity to Lake St. Clair crossed my mind, as well. Trice allegedly drove around Detroit for several hours in the middle of the night and could have also been near the Detroit River. Finding little Wynter doesn't sound promising :(

If he had dropped off the child to a friend or family, I would think they would have been alerted by now with this in the news.
Another one punishing the mother with the worst thing a person could do.
I haven't seen mention of a reward yet. If Trice left the child with someone, maybe the party is waiting for $$$ before turning the child over to authorities. In the meantime, if someone has Wynter, he/she/they are accessories in the kidnapping. JMO

Two days after a Lansing child went missing, Lansing Police Chief Ellery Sosebee and FBI Acting Special Agent Devin Kowalski are promising a 4 p.m. Tuesday update on 2-year-old Wynter Cole Smith.

The FBI sent a release stating that they will meet with media at Lansing City Hall.

... Police said tips of seeing a 2013 white Chevrolet Impala between 11:15 p.m. Sunday and 1 a.m. Monday could be important.

It doesn't sound like they are covering for him... so cross one side of the family off.

They need to start looking for if he's got some easily snowed girlfriend somewhere.
Sorry, I should have been more clear. This is the mother of Wynter's biological father who was reportedly traveling from Nashville to Detroit yesterday.

Eddings son Ajay Smith, who is Wynter’s father, is a football player at the University of Tennessee. He was on his way to Detroit Monday night to help with the search. He zoomed with 7 Action News from the Nashville airport wanting nothing more than to hold his daughter safe and sound.

According to LPD Chief Ellery Sosebee, Wynter is still missing and the investigation is still ongoing.

Sosebee asked Michiganders to review a map of the alleged abductor’s route and report anything suspicious they see. He reminded citizens that knowingly withholding information that could lead to Wynter’s discovery could be a crime and could result in criminal charges.

He also asked residents to not share misinformation, as it harms the search.

The FBI issued a $25,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to Wynter being found.

An AMBER alert first noted the public's of Cole-Smith's disappearance at 2:41 a.m. Monday.

Since then, Lansing Chief of Police Ellery Sosebee said his office and the FBI received countless tips relating to Cole-Smith's case.

"Wynter is one of our kids and we will not rest until we find her," Sosebee said. “...We will not give up on Wynter."

I hope the authorities have thoroughly investigated the car to determine whether there's any evidence that the child was ever in the car. Otherwise she may still be in her Mother's home - injured and unable to respond.

Authorities said they've spoken with known associates of Trice and are continuing to release information in hopes of getting help from the public.

[...]

Officials shared known routes the suspect took from the Lansing area to metro Detroit.

Police are asking anyone near those routes to check their security cameras. They're also asking anyone who has seen anything out of the ordinary to report it to police.

[...]

Anyone who knows information about Wynter's location and does not share that with authorities could face charges.

“It’s a little girl. It’s a 2-year-old girl, my daughter. She shouldn’t have to go through this. She’s got her whole life ahead of her,” Wynter’s father Ajay Smith said.

Smith, who traveled to Michigan from Tennessee Monday night, is pleading for the safe return of his daughter.

The FBI says they're bringing in all the resources they have including several units within the department to assist in the search.
