I'm almost one hundred percent sure, wasn't it north carolina, near this area, that the police botched up another missing case of a teenage girl that was abducted right out of a double wide? Police botched it all up. I saw a documentary with the mother, can't remember this girls name, but it's been less than five years ago. The police refused to investigate her disappearance when the kidnapper took her right in front of witnesses. Anybody know what I'm talking about. The girl was around 16. White.

I am not ready to hang the Mom for her comments just yet. The family is a victim in this until evidence points elsewhere and it is really not fair [and violation of TOS] to blast her because she might have done everything in her ability to do her best for her daughter. Other missing persons are also described as having mental or personality disorders and bipolar & pathological lying is just that.

We really do not know what this family has been through. I saw the clip when she said that and her face looked sad.

Might a thoughtful mind wonder if this was being said so that searchers and LE could truly know her state of mind?

Fact is we have no way of knowing what Mom was thinking when she said that but I do know as fact that she was a parent put in a very stressful situation and talking to national media for probably the first time ever. It’s possible she was just being truthful and thought it might help. I have a cousin who is bipolar and I do not think that saying anyone is bipolar is “discrediting” or demeaning to anyone in anyway.

Wonder if this former marine is this guy's wife or significant other?

THAT was exactly my thought. And his wife would know what time he left and could report that he left at 4 a.m. How else would they know exactly what time he left?

The mother's comments tear me up. My oldest step daughter is BP. She is now 20. And you could probably consider her a compulsive liar when she was younger. She was very hard to handle when she was younger. This kid, now a married mom, grew up to be a great person. Ironically she's married to a Marine. And if she disappeared tomorrow, I would be screaming loudly that there would be no way, no h*ll she ran off. I certainly wouldn't be slamming her for her past mistakes or airing her dirty laundry.

I really seriously wonder if Marie's mother isn't the one with the BP problem and lying.

Sheriff: Missing Vandalia Marine Dead

The Sheriff in Onslow County, North Carolina announced Friday afternoon that missing Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach is dead.

Lauterbach was eight months pregnant. Her body is believed to be buried in a shallow grave in North Carolina but has not been found. Sheriff Ed Brown also stated that 21 year old Corporal Cesar Armando Lauren is the prime suspect.

Lauterbach accused Lauren of raping her in April 2007, but investigators say a relationship between the two continued after the alleged attack. Lauren is from Nevada and a nationwide search is now underway.

The 20 year old Vandalia woman was last seen December 14th, when she bought a bus ticket in Jacksonville, North Carolina, near the Marine base at Camp Lejeune. The ticket was good for six months, and the ticket agent said Lauterbach had planned to use the ticket to El Paso, Texas the next day. The ticket has not been used.

Lauterbach disappeared ahead of her expected testimony in the military investigation into her sexual assault charges. Court documents show the investigation went sour amid inconsistencies in her story and allegations that she's bipolar and a compulsive liar. Search warrants show that Lauterbach was facing a possible discharge from the service.

Sheriff Brown said investigators previously wanted to question Cpl. Lauren, but he declined. Paul Chiccarelli of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service said that Lauren had not been considered a flight risk. Brown said he believes Lauren left Camp Lejeune around 4 a.m. Friday, giving him an eight hour head start on those searching for him. According to the Sheriff, there is physical evidence of Lauterbach's death that also links Lauren to the case.

The roommate of Lance Cpl. Lauterbach, Sgt. Daniel Durham, who military officials returned to North Carolina from training in California, is not considered a suspect, only a non-crucial witness. Durham told police that he had made his home available to Lauterbach "out of sympathy for her situation" and that the two had shared the home for a short period of time.

Durham said he noticed nothing unusual in Lauterbach's behavior before she disappeared, but he said, "She had been upset by a phone call from her stepmother."

Documents released by Onslow County authorities on Thursday indicated that the woman's mother, Mary Lauterbach, described having a "firm conversation" with Maria Lauterbach on December 14th about her unborn child, telling her she should give the baby up for adoption because she is unable to care for it.

"Ms. Maria Lauterbach was telling Mary Lauterbach everything was fine, but Mary Lauterbach had a sense that the statements were not accurate," the report said.

Neighbor Expresses Shock At Report Of Death

A neighbor expressed shock Friday at the news that authorities in North Carolina believe a 20-year-old Marine from Vandalia, Ohio, is dead.

At the family home of Lance Cpl. Maria Frances Lauterbach, interview requests were turned away.

A neighbor, Kent Zimmerman, said he has known the Lauterbach family for 10 years and described Maria as, quoting, "very polite, very respectful." He said she was a wonderful neighbor who loved sports and was an energetic competitor.

He said his family is shocked and sickened by the news of her death.

I don't think so now that a Pic is released. It is also saying the Guy was from NV. I do not think he was married.

I think the Nevada means that's his home state, but he is stationed in Jacksonville. All military have a home of record, but they may purchases houses, etc., wherever they are stationed. It appears this guy has a home in Onslow County. I thought the picture on the myspace and the picture released looks like the same guy. I could definately be wrong tho.

I think they look simialar as well, but I guess we can never be sure

I knew the NV was his home state. An Maybe my eyes are going bad

My apologies if what I'm saying has been said before.

My thoughts....
If I understood correctly, this morning I heard on a couple of the news channels that suspect made plans to come in to cooperate with authorities but backed out each time with some excuse.
The last time he was supposed to meet with authorities, he said his lawyer told him not to talk to anyone.

IF, big IF, suspect had a lawyer, maybe he told lawyer a scenario about his using force to fend off the pregnant woman.
In the scuffle, she fell, hit her head, he panicked which caused him to find a place to hide the body.

What IF it's the suspect's lawyer that gave all the 'tips' to authorities after he realized his client fled?

Can someone tell me if the mother's statements about the daughter being bi-polar and a compulsive liar were only made to the investigating officer or was she on TV making those comments as well?

I have a copy of the court documents that show her statements, but I can't remember if they were directly made by her to the media.

Wouldn't his lawyers also be military? I thought I heard that the witness or the person that came forward was a "former Marine".

I do think he is married. Public records show a house owned by Cesar A
And Christina Lauren. Unless he had an another relative to co-sign on the
loan this should be his wife with the deed in both names.

It has been said that a female former marine has given evidents about the
location of the body. I wonder if this was the wife. They could have meet
in the marines and after they got married she did not re-enlist especially if they have a child and she would not want to be sent to Iraq.

Maybe you are talking about Michelle Bueller (or something close to that - I can't remember for sure and I gotta go to ball practice right now and can't look) but there was a similar case to what you are talking somewhere near Jacksonville...IIRC.

He could hire a civilian lawyer if he wanted to. Makes you wonder if they are not military how he can afford 3..
