Yes, and now we can see that J Barrett was the one that Casey gave the big hug. Thanks to the video from JW.........wow, she actually did something helpful.
Here's the pic of the hug from the hearing on May 11, PIC 27.

ugh .. now this really makes me wonder JUST how much ICA is manipulating her .....:banghead: Would have loved to be a fly on the wall when CA and Shirley were be interviewed

Yes, the wifi version was released a month ago, the 3G 4.30. I thought about this last night and the iPad isn't a full notebook capability. It does have limitations. Unless JB was just taking notes, using the note app, I personally can't understand why he was using one. Because of it's size, it is great for surfing the web, getting and sending emails (like to CA, maybe) and viewing video and photos. Think about this, the iPad is just an extension of the iPhone, only bigger. IMHO, JB was "grandstanding" his new toy to the media.

Hold on for a couple of more weeks, the international units will be for sale.

I was watching the trial on one of the websites where people were texting,
and some were saying he was trittering.Don't know this to be true, but
evidently someone saw the messages :waitasec:

If I were a juror on the trial,knowing what I know today,this is how I would vote;

1.Cold calculated-premed Yes
2.Younger than 12 Yes
3.Being the mother Yes
4.Cruel crime Yes
5.Child abuse Yes

Sorry I am not that computer literate to type all out,but I think you understand what
i am saying, My vote would be yes.

Premeditation in my opinion,is the duct tape,we do not carry this around with us all
the time so this was calculated, and intent can be formed in an instant IIRC.

JMHO

Whoa. That video freaks me out. Thanks for finding it :-)

I would think Jeanne Barrett would be sympathetic to Joy Wray if she is a social worker specializing in mitigation. She may be used to that "type" of personality.

Why Women Aren't Executed: Gender Bias and the Death Penalty
Fall 1996 Human Rights Magazine By Thad Rueter
Juries and judges tend to find more mitigating factors in capital cases involving women than in ones involving men
Isn't this sort of the opposite, in a backwards kind of way, of what AL was trying to say???

http://www.abanet.org/irr/hr/fall96/genderbias.html

I am certain she will be found guilty of murder; however, I do not see the jury recommending death. Regardless if I agree with her getting life or death...I have never thought the jury would think a life sentence would be a lesser justice. In Florida there is no parole for this ..life means the person will die in prison. Many have opined that would be far more, perpetual punishment.
In school when faced with do you want detention for two weeks or a paddling by the principal, hands down, you pick the paddling and get it over with, right?

I agree with you about "life" "The World According".
re: Mitigating Factors, Gender Bias - AL
It's interesting how everything is relative depending on which side of the fence one is standing.

Well ,I hope Cindy is not going to use her description of other races as a mitigating factor. She already gave the invisible yellow sticker with the invisa-nanny's number to the BLACK gentleman Police Officer. Now she has to contend with the BLACK gentlewoman mitigation specialist hugging ICA. It over the top if she refers to His Honor Belvin Perry, as the BLACK judge.:hand::hand:
Ah well never a dull moment. Carry on folks!!:waitasec:

Preparing for the Penalty Phase

I'm just a wee bit amused by RH's suggestion that the defense made this move to "throw the State off". Especially considering the fact that here
[ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5590994&postcount=69"]http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5590994&postcount=69[/ame] it has already been discussed.

Dorothy began publishing on the subject in various state and national legal journals. She has lectured extensively on medical/legal issues with focus on direct and cross-examination of medical experts hired by the defense. She has lectured throughout the U.S., Canada, Japan and India on legal/psychiatric issues giving over 300 speeches to doctors and lawyers.

She also conferences with lawyers on an individual basis in areas involving various methods used by defense experts. Topics include medical/legal aspects of various medical and psychiatric conditions and common tactics used by the defense to avoid diagnosis and causation. This includes determining when DME's have misrepresented psychological and neuropsychological data.

While Dot could cross regarding any number of matters. I am confident that "The State" was already one step ahead if not 5, and that they did not fall for "smoke and mirrors". I am confident that they are used to carrying "respiratory masks" and Windex. I'd bet there's probably a "sudden oral emission" aka "barf bag" in there too. HeeHee

I agree that it is unlikely that a jury will opt for the DP in this. She will get LWOP and be burried in a deep cell somewhere forever.

Does she have any actual criminal background? Everything that I have seen seems to indicate she is mostly civil stuff like medical malpractice?

I have some general questions but I couldn't find any particular place to post. Since a discussion is going on regarding the DP -vs- LWOP, I thought I'd post here.

If Casey gets LWOP or the DP will she go to Lowell?

If she gets LWOP will she be able to participate in all the activities offered at the prison such as:

100-hour Transition Program
Aerobics
Alcoholics Anonymous
Fresh Start Smoking Cessation
HIV/AIDS/STD Awareness
Inmate Fitness
Intramural Sports
Law Library Program
Library Program
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
Parenting
Step Aerobics
Wellness Education
Women Helping Women
Yoga

http://www.dc.state.fl.us/facilities/region3/314.html

If she gets the DP will she be segregated from all inmates? I assume she would be put in some sort of protective custody initially no matter what her sentence but I don't think that would last forever.

As an aside, I believe S. Smith was put in protective custody initially but she seems to be doing well with the other inmates now. She even has (or at least had) an on line profile looking for a boyfriend at one time. It was a dating web site for prisoners.

Just curious what the difference is between LWOP and the DP in regards to day to day living. Anyone know?

IMO

If on DR, she would be segregated from the mainline (GP). DR inmates are only with other DR inmates... she would likely be segregated initially from many other DR inmates given her high profile case, and the fact she is a baby killer. Here in CA, they get 1 hour of yard time a day, and are also eligible for the law library program to work on their appeals. She will likely be too afraid to go to yard at first, but slowly will integrate into a group she feels safe with, and that custody assesses she will be safe with.. yard time is scheduled in groups (usually birds of a feather..other child killers).. DR inmates are not eligible for the other 'rehab' programs that lifers are. Even though lifers will never see the light of day outside the fence, they are offerred these adjustment programs.
Many CA prisons have a special unit for lifer inmates in which they can earn a move to by their behavior. The list is long and it takes a long time to earn it.. They are allowed more out of cell time in the block and more inmate interaction. There is also SNY (special needs yard) for those that are classified as high risk targets for hits..but this is not for DR inmates.

Currently there is only one woman on Florida's death row at Lowell. Meet Casey's future BFF: http://www.dc.state.fl.us/ActiveInmates/Detail.asp?Bookmark=1&From=list&SessionID=274777317

This website has a lot of good information about prison life in Florida.

*respectfully snipped for space

Death row for women is housed at Lowell and I think she'll go there if she gets life also.

Here's a great thread by one of our wonderful websleuthers who shared knowledge of Lowell:

Aggravating factors: circumstances about the offense that makes it more heinous or cruel (e.g., the murder of a police officer or a murder in the course of a rape)

Mitigating Factors: any evidence about the defendant that a juror might reasonably view as a reason to impose a sentence other then death (e.g., no prior history of criminal activity; remorse; cooperating with law enforcement officers investigating the offense; a mental disability).

Well for aggravating factors for Casey Anthony they are as stated by the state to be:
1) The capital felony involved aggravated child abuse
2) It was premeditated
3) The victim was under the age of 12
4) The defendant was the victim’s parent
5) The slaying was especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel

Mitigating Factors for Casey would be:
A mental disability would be the only one that would apply (IMHO)
She has priors (at least in theft) no remorse, she did not cooperate with LE..So it only leaves mental issues.
. So Baez will have to prove Casey is unstable so there for should get LWOP....
It could happen if they can prove she has anti-social personality.. But is that enough? Is anti-social disorder enough to get out of the DP?
IMHO
