Well, for one, it is the weekend! So, tomorrow, Monday morning, the Hennepin County Prosecutors will be back at their desks.
IMO, the police feel they have probable cause to make the arrest, but not firm enough yet that they feel they'll slam-dunk get a conviction.
IMO, I bet the police have other things they could arrest Pierre Collins on right now (welfare fraud?? tax fraud?? who knows what?), and so they told Pierre Collins, 'Hey, hand over your passport or else we'll arrest you right now on this other (lesser) charge we have on you', so Pierre handed over his passport.
Yes, police are NOT to be loosey-goosey about naming 'suspects' - I think they believe 100 percent Pierre did this. Maybe the only leverage they will have to try to pull on Pierre Collins, through his attorney, because For Sure Pierre Collins is 'lawyered-up' by now, will be to say, 'Hey Pierre, tell us who your accomplice was and then maybe we can go easier on you...' But, the problem with that is that For Sure, it is Pierre who is the Mastermind and Ringleader of the murder, so Pierre would think all he'd do would be to hurt his buddy's life, and, because Pierre 'forced' the matter, the case against Pierre would get worse because the accomplice would tell all he knows.
I really think, if Pierre Collins did this crime, it was all about making easy money - remember how about 4 days after little Barway's disappearance, a group came to pray in Barway's parking lot, and handed out $1,200 cold cash to Pierre - if Pierre did this crime, I bet Pierre really enjoyed getting that money in his hands. And that would have just been the beginning - 'GoFun_M_' type websites would get him an easy $75,000 within a few weeks. And maybe Barway was ignorant, tho', about how realistically he he would likely not be able to collect his $30,000 on the life insurance policy....
I find it odd that the murder occurred the very day that Pierre had just been at court getting 'spanked' about his hefty child support arrears.... That makes me think Pierre Collins (if he did this horrible crime) was just filled with hatred every-which-way, and all his hate wound up fixated onto Barway. Which ties in to the thought that maybe Pierre's present wife genuinely love little Barway, and that made Pierre angry and jealous - i.e., that Pierre could not stand not being Number One in his home, the King of his Apartment. And, he'd rationalize, this is one less mouth to feed....
So, I am wondering if Pierre planned this out for a long time, or if was more a burst of sudden anger. Very odd to me that Pierre would do it the very day of court - - you'd think he'd realize he'd look darn suspicious just for that reason, plus, down at the court, all is on camera, and everyone would remember seeing Pierre that day (when your kid disappears that very evening...)
If Pierre did this horrible crime, then, I would guess he would think no one would ever think to check out the Mississippi River. Which has me think now, with Chief Revering's latest press conference, it was cell phone use by Pierre that is the 'electronic evidence' of where Pierre was ---- none of know everything, so isn't it entirely possible that Pierre simply had never learned about how our cell phones have gps on them? And about the cell phone tower 'pings' ???? I am 'talking out loud', but now I am leaning to think gheesh: Pierre's own cell phone gps is the damning evidence !!!
Morals of the story: Don't think about murderering your child. Don't think you can outwit the police. Don't lie to the police.
Also, I live in this area, and people do NOT go hungry and welfare benefits are phenomenal here. Goodness, even if Pierre felt he was 'oh so poor', he really was super rich - nice, lovely apartment, leather furniture, iphone, good food, great schools for his kids, ipad, computers, great medical care, super nice clothes, woman after woman after woman.... (he's only 32 !)
