Dentist who killed Cecil the Lion will NOT face charges in Zimbabwe

Walter Palmer of Minnesota had his papers in order before the hunt that led to a global backlash

'It turned out that Palmer came to Zimbabwe because all the papers were in order,' Environment Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri said on Monday

From your link, Blondie (Thank You!):

'If I had known this lion had a name and was important to the country or a study obviously I wouldn't have taken it,' Palmer said. 'Nobody in our hunting party knew before or after the name of this lion.'

Regardless of whether or not the lion had a name or was part of an Oxford University study, he was (reportedly) purposefully lured off the wildlife preserve so that he could be hunted and killed.

Why is this salient fact seemingly being ignored by the Zimbabwean officials? According to the various articles I've read, the hunting license doesn't permit the luring of an animal from the wildlife preserve so that it can be killed.

I smell a payoff or, at the least, an attitude of looking the other way in order to protect future game-hunting tourism dollars.

Evidently it was all legal on his end, as I suspected. jmo idk

Legal, barely, and probably became "legal" because he paid someone off. Which IMO isn't really legal. And ethical? Not on your life. This creep is a Scum Bag.

Agreed. So everything is hunky dory because Palmer simply "had his papers in order"? To me, that's sort of like saying a reckless driver is fine because he has a valid drivers license. Brent Stapelkamp, the Zimbabwe lion researcher who appeared on ABC's 20/20, strongly suspects foul play from Palmer. I wonder what he thinks about all this.

Legal trumps ethical jmo, iirc most here wanted him killed ,hung, and what ever else saying he did it illegally, turns out it was legal and thats all that matters to me.
Oh & the danish zoo will be publicly dissecting a 6 month old lion cub they killed because they have so many.

The Odense Zoo in central Denmark says the healthy young female lion was put down nine months ago because the zoo had too many felines. It said the animal, which has since been kept in a freezer, will be dissected Thursday to coincide with the schools' fall break.

Zimbabwe court drops charges against hunter who helped kill Cecil the lion

A Zimbabwean court has thrown out charges against a local hunter accused of failing to stop the killing of the country's most prized lion by an American dentist, his lawyer said on Friday.

Walter Palmer, a lifelong big-game hunter from Minnesota, touched off a global controversy when he killed Cecil, a rare black-maned lion, with a bow and arrow outside Hwange National Park in western Zimbabwe in July last year.

Bronkhorst's lawyers then applied to the High Court in Zimbabwe's second city of Bulawayo to set aside the charge, arguing it could not have been an offence under the country's wildlife laws if Palmer had a permit to hunt.

"The court granted us that prayer yesterday - that the charges be quashed. So I cannot imagine the state coming back again charging him with the same charge," said Lovemore Muvhiringi, a lawyer for Bronkhorst.

A SHEEP? The brave warrior hunter who fearlessly killed a tame lion is now killing sheep for fun? Disgusting. What will his next trophy kill be, a hamster?

Sorry not sorry for judging someone for their looks, but he looks serial killer creepy. IMO.
