He's returning out of "compassion for his staff" ?! uke: I'd like to ask him where all that "compassion" was when he stalked and slaughtered Cecil in cold blood. He's coming out of hiding most likely to avoid losing everything he has, which is what he absolutely deserves. He's a disgusting, heartless creep and atonement for what he's done is long overdue.

"The professional hunter who helped an American dentist kill Zimbabwe's popular lion Cecil has been arrested for his alleged link with an illegal operation to smuggle 29 sable antelope out of the country.

Theo Bronkhorst, 52, was arrested Monday in Zimbabwe's second largest city of Bulawayo, police said on Tuesday.

"He is facing charges of moving wild animals without a permit" and smuggling of wild animals, police spokeswoman Charity Charamba said in a statement.

The arrest came days after three South Africans were arrested and charged for trying to smuggle 29 sable -- a rare and expensive breed of antelope -- out of Zimbabwe into South Africa."

The article linked above gives new details about Palmer's 2006 illegal bear hunt. Watch the included video too. This incident is eerily similar to the Cecil hunt. Palmer's actually a convicted felon because he lied to federal agents. I don't think that point has been emphasized enough by the media.

According to a 75-page investigative report Fox 9 obtained, under the Freedom of Information Act, there was "a conspiracy by Palmer, the guides, and hunting partners involved to cover up the violation." When Fish and Wildlife agents interviewed Palmer at his Eden Prairie home, he blamed his guides for any mistake, even scolding the federal agents, telling them, "it was rude for the officers to scare his wife and to show up at somebody's home." When told he may have violated federal law, the dentist said he "refused to be threatened." Federal prosecutors handled the case because the bear was taken across state lines.

^It's obvious that Palmer is an arrogant, self-entitled, self-centered liar.

Palmer told the federal agents they went to a couple of bars after killing the bear to show the animal off, but he made a point of telling investigators he didn't drink, that he's a recovering alcoholic and is sober. Palmer pled guilty in 2008 to making false statements to federal agents, a felony, and paid a $3,000 fine.
