Frank is going through body camera footage with Reyerson.

Frank, "Is this the moment in the encounter between Mr. Floyd and Mr. Chauvin when Mr. Floyd appears to stop making verbal sounds, talking?

Reyerson, "Yes, sir."

Frank, "We know the moment he stopped moving was roughly 20:24:58".

Reyerson confirms this was about two minutes later-

Frank, "Based on your work on the case... is there a moment in Exhibit 127 where you think you can see better the placement of Officer Chauvin's right knee?"

Reyerson, "Yes, sir"

Frank has him circle Chauvin's knee in video.

This is the timestamp for that moment, which is about four minutes after the time Reyerson noted Floyd stopped moving.

They've pulled this witness in to get the video played again to counter the 'shoulder blade' stills before moving on. Good move I think.

I agree. I think the State was taken by surprise yesterday and the day before. Stiger and this guy have been better prepared for that line of questioning IMO

I wanted to see the full side by side video though grrrr

Let's see what happens with Nelson now.

N: You're trained...to put the knee into what would be the trapezius area in between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck.
S: Yes the base of the neck.
N: And you are trained on it.
S: Yes.

N: Officers are trained that if CPR is needed to you to remove handcuffs...And to use caution, because the subject may revive agitated and ready to fight.
S: Correct.
N: You've had that training too.
S: Yes.
N: You've had that experience...
S: Uh yes.

They're taking a brief moment for the state to review what Nelson is citing in his questioning. You can see the state prosecutors on the left, pool reporters against the wall, and Nelson's assistant on the far right.

I wonder if LE get a mini lecture on the structure of the human vertebrae. IMO, it isn't enough to vaguely state the trapezius area of the back. Vertebrae 1 - 7 are classified as cervical. When I see the videos of DC kneeling on GF he is absolutely pressing on C7 and possibly the C5 and C6. That's not the trapezius, that's the neck. Have I forgotten the words to that old song? *singing* "the neck bones are connected to the scapula" Have I got it right now?

My main issue with Nelson is that he is asking many questions that don't pertain to the situaton. When he asks, for example, about the crowd being a distraction, my first thought is -- "but they wanted him to render aid. Had he done that, they wouldn't be upset."

I also do not like Nelson's deceptiveness. That play with the "knee on the neck/not on the neck" was deplorable. Several experienced police officials have seen it and fired DC because of it. The officers who were with him said in their BCA interviews that it the knee was on the neck. You can see in these officers' cams that the knee was on the neck. You can even see in Lang's cam that DC had to move his knee so the EMS could check the neck.

I hope the jurors recognize his tactic instead of using it as an excuse to hang the jury.

This thing with the crowd is really weak. I saw 13 people standing on a curb. If the crowd was so bad, why didn't Thomas Lane go help Tau with the crowd? If you look at Lane's body cam, he is barely holding on to Floyd's legs. At some point, he is not touching Floyd at all. I wish the prosecution would bring this up.

If these four couldn't handle that crowd, they should never have been police to start with.

These are defense 101 tactics--- along with the bushy hair stranger and some other dude did it-- I really have very little respect for criminal defense attorneys. Their job is confuse and obfuscate--

#DerekChauvinTrial - Reyerson: defense team requested to view squad car 320 that had been stored since the incident. During that viewing a pill was discovered, collected. We know from def opening, the pill id'd as methamphetamine w/fentanyl, had Floyd's DNA.

#DerekChauvinTrial - Some important times per bodycam/testimony: 8:19:19 - Chauvin's knee on neck 8:24:28 - Reyerson: when Floyd stops verbalizing 8:27:18 - Ambulance arrives 8:28:48 - Chauvin's knee comes off

#DerekChauvinTrial - Nelson on cross-exam. He clarifies with the witness that no one is accusing the defense of planting the pills found in the squad car months later. (Both sides agree that didn't happen)

I get the feeling Nelson is asking lots of questions to give the impression he is leading up to an important point but he never actually gets there... or maybe I’ve just zoned out

I started out feeling that way and now I’m getting really turned off.

Agreed. I did kind of like him until he started trying to play us for lames. I really feel he's insulting me with that crowd talk, the knee on the neck talk, and the "becoming aggressive again" talk when Lang let go of Floyd's legs entirely and Keung was picking stuff off tires as they waited.

Maybe Nelson has just bitten off more than he can chew with this case. I wonder if he prefers to try this case alone or if he couldn't get a suitable atty to work with him?

So state and prosecution are arguing about the fluid that's on the floor. I thought before today that it wasn't bodily fluid but state seem to not be discounting that by their question just now about AC still running in the car and therefore no condensation...

If this is bodily fluid, would that not be evident on the clothes he was wearing. Were the clothes destroyed before being able to be examined? Samples of the fluid on the floor would have been taken at the scene no? I'm confused as to why this is being argued. It should be known either way and therefore not arguable?...

I’m not buying that GF is saying “I ate too many drugs” makes no sense why GF would say that in that moment and I can’t make out at all what GF is saying! Nelson is suggesting evidence here. Can’t believe this last witness agreed that’s what he said!
