Was Meemken ever looking into with regard to these cases and please forgive me if you've already addressed this - many thanks!

I responded to this with an additional related question that appears to have been removed without a note or PM to me as to why.

Reker sisters: It is pretty much known who did this, but without evidence, there is no case.
"The Vidocq Society pointed out who did it, and so in my mind that's the guy that did it," Marty Reker said. "So I already know who did it, I feel. It's just the question of can they ever prove it?"

He said that his father, Fred, shared his belief that the Vidocq's suspect was the killer. Fred died on Dec. 31, 2012."

Sad.

Does anyone know if The Vidocq Society has ever been contacted to work on Jacob's disappearance?

According to their website, one of the requirements is a body, but on this page,

http://www.vidocq.org/founders/

it says: "In time the focus of the Society narrowed to where unsolved deaths and, in certain cases, disappearances became the organization’s mandate."

They are a well respected group, and I could not help but wonder if solving Jacobs case would not further boost their reputation?

Sorry I could not respond. Your mail box is full. And that was not the person I referenced.

Well, I sent that comparison pic into the JW Foundation after making it in photoshop, and they forwarded it on to LE. IIRC, the times were off. I can check, but I think Meemken was too young in 1989 to have been involved. I keep meaning to make a group composite of all the various guys we have looked at compared to the suspect sketch, but it looks like so many people. I'll get it done one of these days though.

Links on Meemken. According to the first link he was 42 years old in 2012, so he would only have been 19 in 1989.

I did, but not "that" Meemken....

there are quite a few people with that same last name that have been arrested in the St Cloud area. Some for similar child offenses.

So the Priest is EJM who died in 2008 and the Deputy is PJM. The parks chief who was arrested for molestation is WJ. Not sure that WJ looks like the sketch, but both PJM and EJM sure do to me...

I was just looking up these names also and look what I stumbled across when researching... Maybe there's a reason Jared's abductor had a police scanner in his car. Can't believe how many of them there are!

Pics of some of them here:

Wow! Unbelievable.

So many with jobs such as chief. I saw one who was a retired child sex crimes investigator.

The Rev. Larry R. Johnson had met the Swinarski family shortly after arriving at St. Joseph parish in July 1992, and David's parents were suspicious almost immediately about the attention Johnson showed him.

1988-92: Pastor, Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Maplewood. Johnson invites school boys off campus for lunches. At least one staff member and a parishioner raise concerns to the archdiocese about his boundary issues with boys.

I wonder how people feel knowing their hard earned money goes to his support.

My honest assessment is that when there is a child sexual assault or abduction that the Church suspects may have been one of their own or they are not sure, they send a seasoned member of the Clergy over to "keep an eye on things", "muddy the water" and if needed, do some damage control. They gather what ever information they can to use later for defense purposes. Only when the investigation starts to head their direction do they resort to financial bribes and massive cover ups including moving the guilty around and delay tactics to keep investigators out of their facilities. I have seen first hand how higher ranking members of the clergy can coerce the faithful, including those in LE to turn a blind eye. "Think of what this could do to the Church?" "You know a man of the cloth could never do such a thing" "Think about it...I know you will do the right thing to protect our Church and faith"

I would submit that with such a large cast of characters both in LE and the Church in that area, there is no shortage of potential suspects. Both LE and Clergy would have intimate knowledge of the roads, fields, woods etc.

Not being Catholic, I have no personal experience except for having friends that were Catholic and /or attended Catholic school.

The scandals were with priests having relationships with women.

None of us ever guessed or talked about them doing something with boys.

I know when a family revealed the sexual abuse of their son here (0Protestant), the family was totally ostracized and attacked. It was really ugly.

The boy ( now an adult) had many issues including alcoholism . I knew the mother personally and she was a lovely person.

Coming forward with that kind of info takes a tremendous amount of courage.

It is not just the church, but I am sure the parishioners who also make it hard to report.

Another big issue is the one of homosexuality. It appears that sexual abuse is far more acceptable than homosexuality in the Catholic church. I think that there was a big fear of parents of boys as well as the boys themselves about the issue of homosexuality.

Fortunately, for the general public , it is no longer stigmal
