I just don't like the idea of the government having the authority to turn a jury's sentence into a life sentence without proper due process.

Serial pedophiles need to be locked up forever.

The due process will come when we change the penalities. Life without parole if not death.

Why the idea of rehab for them and treatment? What is that all about? Really, who cares about rehab for them. It should not come as a surprise that molesting children or raping is not OK.

I am really curious for those that think Jacob was stalked, why they think that way.

He is from an intact loving family that did all kinds of activities together. If you have read the story of the kids acting out their family life, they said how someone broke a window. No problem. I forget what else. But forget to tape the game. Oh oh! What fun they had. Love.

They live in an isolated area in a cul de sac of a very few homes. At the time, maybe 5 to 7.

They had a dog and maybe the other neighbors as well. This was not a place where someone could hang around unnoticed.

With these limitations, why not choose a boy who was looking for love and attention and would do anything to get it?

Excellent questions, Human. I'm still pondering the fact that the FBI searched a home in another location, telling the homeowner that the search had to do with the Wetterling case. I think this may have happened after the last dig at the Rassier farm. It's confusing.

I think it's possible Jacob had a stalker. I think it may have been someone who saw him on a regular basis -- maybe even someone who had observed him through the years, such as a coach who lived in the area. Someone with a commanding, gravelly voice who had the audacity to do such a thing in front of other people. He felt large and in charge and seemed to know what he was doing. Probably planned it out to the T. And I think he may have watched Jacob earlier that day at the hockey rink. Someone who was in a difficult place in life and perhaps had done inappropriate things to boys in the past. All speculation. Of course Occam's razor would probably point to a much simpler explanation. And I, too, would like to know why LE continues to refer to DR as the only person of interest in this case. Surely there has to be something to substantiate such a label?

I think if it was a stalker they would have not asked ages etc. They would have known who they wanted.

For the same reason that a single man or woman might stalk someone who is married. You want what you want. It doesn't have to be easier than an alternative or make sense.

As previously discussed Jacobs name might not have been known. Asking ages may have just been a question asked on the fly. A reason to get the boys to look at him.

I do think it's possible. I can't forget the feeling Jerry had at the ice rink. Jacob was in danger. Jerry felt it. Something was wrong and Jerry knew it. Of course as soon as he saw Jacob he felt relieved and pushed the panic aside.
Stalking can be done to anyone anytime. It doesn't matter where you live or what type of family you come from. The stalking could have been fairly new or even brand knew. Who knows?
Let's see, an unseasonably warm night and no school the next day. Jacobs house was on a dead end road, right? One way in and one way out. Regardless of past history which the stalker may or may not have known, it would be a reasonable assumption that Jacob might be out and about.
Then I think about the sound Aaron heard in the brush. I think the stalker was there. That was him. Why he didn't grab Jacob on the way to the store I don't know. Fear, second thoughts, first-timer, hoping Jacob would be coming back alone? And maybe that time was the only time he committed such a crime. If Jacob was accidentally killed or killed because he recognized the perpetrator, then what? Stalker turned killer? Certainly not everyone who has killed or abducted does it more than once.

Let's hypothesize that Occam's razor is spot on in this situation. What then would an Occam's razor type explanation be? What would this theory say happened to Jacob?

DR saw Jacob and friends go on bike. Put on mother's pantyhose because Aaron would recognize him, threw voice to sound scary. Kidnapped Jacob. Called at 11PM because the state of MN was in his yard. Went to work. Burned body at SJU crematorium or hid. Parents come home from Germany, last chance to act on fantasy is over. Resumes life.

Had opportunity, no discernible motive other than some sort of disordered fantasy.

It would be interesting to know if the time that DR left for school that day and the time he arrived coincide. There had to be other employees that knew what time he got there and the LE know what time he left.

My Occam's razor starts with: Family was having problems, sought therapy, counselor gained access to family,

Simonsez, what kind of counselor would we be talking about -- a priest, or, a therapist from a practice, or -- a person who referred to himself as a counselor but was not a trained counselor? Thanks. I have my opinions but I know I missing far too much in the way of facts to be fully invested in my current beliefs.

See DC in our who's who.

The who's who can be found on page one of every thread under "case facts".

The student distanced himself from Roger Julkowski, and by late 1989, had moved several states away. In a recent phone conversation, the student, now in his late 40s with strong ties to the Catholic Church, recalled a dream that he had on the evening of October 22, 1989. In the dream, Roger Julkowski abducted a young boy and did something with the body in West Gemini Lake, the lake behind Julkowski’s home. On the morning of October 23, 1989, the former student heard the news that Jacob Wetterling had been abducted in Saint Joseph, Minnesota, a few miles from Julkowski’s home.

a neighbor is outside. Has been dreaming of having a child to molest but it has not ever been possible.

Then he sees the neighbor children and goes into the equivalent of deer fever. All reason is lost.

Prepares for the crime in case the kids come back that way.

and the neighbor is a compulsive liar, so he has not experienced how lies are visible to people, but Minnesota Nice people do not confront liars. He has no clue that his lying is transparent to others.

His lies are never cohesive and never follow a true series of events. They are random and embellished. He has no idea of how silly he can sound.

I wonder if West Gemini Lake has been searched?

could be the feeling was a premonition. I had a dream once about a plane crash. The next day one happened where I live and no one got hurt. I know some of the people but no one close to me. I think stuff like that happens.

I think the feeling that Jacobs father got at the ice rink earlier in the day could have been a premonition as well. He felt that his son was in danger. That doesn't mean someone was stalking him at the rink, it could have been a premonition that something was going to happen to Jacob.
