There is absolutely no evidence that Josh was either a victim of some nefarious activity on campus or just some tragic accident. Occam's razor tends to support the later but the lack of evidence either way is very unsatisfying.

The recent history of the Catholic Church and St. John's covering up sex abuse and the "questionable" competence of the Sheriff's Dept. would justify suspension over that conclusion

Since this was never officially a criminal investigation but whatever its classification, it seems it should be officially close. Once it is closed, all information should be available under FOIA. Has Josh's father or anyone else obtained the case file?

There was an attempt by JBrown to obtain the case file a few weeks ago but it was denied citing an active investigation.

Guimond said two days after Joshua went missing, someone gained access to his computer in his dorm room and erased hundreds of emails from the machine’s hard drive. Guimond believes whoever did that knew something about his son’s abduction.

The only thing that will solve the case, Guimond told the Newsleader, is for cold-case experts to come to the Stearns County area, to ask all the right questions and to examine any and all investigative reports that have – or have not been – completed. And the only thing that can make that happen, Guimond said, is public pressure.

Totally agree with this. Stearns county themselves are lost and without energy in cold case investigations.

For 14 years we have come up with two things-

1. What does it mean that someone deleted emails from Josh's computer not long after he went missing?

2. Were one of the monks on campus at the time able to do this?

This is the heart of the pain right now in this case. So to the media and SCSO if you are listening, can you silence this for us?

Yes, 14 years probably feels like a lifetime to Josh's poor parents. I cannot imagine one fraction of how heartbroken they must feel.
1) the news station hired a forensic computer analyst who detailed the name of the person and the fact that he deleted emails after Josh went missing. the person was a student at SJU and the news station did not release his name, but the family has it and posted the name on their site. so I have it as well.
2) a monk who may have had access to the computer network, so they could have seen the emails and possibly have access to delete them, but the forensic analyst said the student deleted them. was he directed by a monk? we can only speculate.

Early on, the Sherriff's Department had focused its attention on Stump Lake, which runs between St. Maur House, Josh Guimond's residence, and Metten Court, the location of the card party. The edge of the water is about half a block from Metten Court. It was reported in the newspaper that a search dog led officers to the lake after being given a scent of Guimond's clothing, which may have prompted this focus. "However, the Trident Foundation conducted a thorough search of all three lakes on campus and found no trace of Josh Guimond."

Yeah however, the trident foundation was hired personally by the family and roughly 5 months after the night Josh went missing. An entire winter had passed. So that presents the question why, why did the family have to personally hire the trident foundation? Did Stearn county have the resources to do this work first but didn't?

It's happened with Ryan Larson, Dan Rassier, and ever since the beginning of this case. John Sanner is a problem, and there is no answers or help coming from them. Who is the lead investigator on this case?

Just throwing this out there, completely different direction, but did Joshua raise any concerns about some sort of danger, such as a fire code or other safety violation and then accidentally die from the issue raised, but authorities possibly ignored?

dotr- sort of. According to his family, Josh was working on a research paper or thesis (not sure which) regarding the sexual abuse of priests and the Catholic Church moving priests around. The paper was never found on his computer. I am not sure if there was evidence of it found by the forensic computer analyst. It is a possible motive. Also, the advisor to the mock trial team has had inappropriate relationships with students in the past (I have 4 affidavits from victims). Some of the violations occurred on mock trial trips. The man in question is a monk and a canon lawyer who helped get many of the other priests out of legal trouble.

He may have sought out counseling and was another victim. Due to the high profile sex abuse cases that were making national news that year, maybe someone wanted Josh and the monk to disappear to save the school its reputation.

Making a student disappear doesn't help the school in any way. In fact because of this disappearance we are still here today exposing their abuse and scandals. If they thought it would work, well it just got worse.

I wish someone would make an appointment with the abbot (provided the common folk are allowed to meet with him) and just say -- Joshua disappeared right on this campus and it makes sense that someone here knows what happened to him. Just to let the abbot know we have not given up and we will not give up until the truth is told. We waited 27 years for the truth about Jacob, wonder how many decades more we'll have to wait for the truth about Josh. And just as it troubled me the way the sheriff has handled Jacob's case, it has also troubled me the way he has handled Joshua's case. Let's start with conflict of interest and go from there.
