GUILTY MN - Kira Trevino, 30, St Paul, 22 February 2013

Praying they find Kira very soon. Her sister attends the same church as a couple of my daughter's friends, and they have been holding many prayer vigils. The local news has been doing a good job of keeping the community informed about the efforts and updated information.

I know so many here are praying for all of those searching - especially those divers and other workers risking their lives in the icy waters. And, of course, we are all praying for Kira's family and friends, both here, and in MN.

ETA: According to one of the local reports here in Wausau, they confirmed that a witness noticed two people struggling and carrying what looked to be the size and shape of a body on the ice. I sure hope they can press JT into giving up his accomplice (or has that been mentioned at all)? TIA for answers as I've been following this case loosely from local media reports only.

Here is a link to the local report from WSAU Ch. 9 - a video is included at the link. There is a comment below the update giving a link to an MSM source from MN that has much more detailed info, and complaining that WSAU's coverage is inadequate in comparison though...
Just wanted to add a link to what I was referring to above...

First and Foremost I would like to extend my thoughts and prayers to all that knew Kira, I can only imagine what they all are feeling and going through. There is no justification for anyone that takes another person’s life. As a Husband and father my world would be crushed if such actions were to affect the ones I love.
I have been following this story for quite some time and can only imagine the possibilities and the wide spread area that he could have dump this poor girl, especially with the unaccounted time line of the husband. How and why has the auth dialed in to some of the search areas, and of course the ones outside of those that held evidence? I understand that one area to be searched is the Valley National Wildlife Refuge in the Bloomington area, which is close to the MOA; but as stated above and by many others on the possibilities of where she could be located why not extend the search to the Black Dog area, which is very populated by trees and brush and the river.
I am also very confused on the fact that they have her car on camera getting fuel, and then leaving towards the west which is 35E. Of course the car could have be driven to 35E going north or south, but our highways are populated with traffic and other cameras, so how is it that they can get a better sense of direction of which way the car went? You cant tell me that at 2am would it be that hard to review these cameras and get a general idea of the direction traveled. These cameras should be able to be used to trace the car. They use them every morning to view live traffic occuerences.

In the end, I have high hopes that they locate Kira whereabouts and Justice will be handed down.

She's in that lake somewhere, I think. It's just so cold and icy that the divers can't be under for long periods of time. It's going to be warming up soon and she can "come home".

Friends and family of Kira Trevino are resuming the search Saturday for the body of the missing St. Paul woman.

The search, which drew up to 100 people, including family members, began at 10 a.m. at Keller Lake, near the intersection of Hwy. 61 and 36 in Maplewood, less than two miles away from the rented house that Trevino, 30, shared with her husband.

Other searches are planned throughout the weekend, according to Facebook posts. At 2 p.m., searchers will be out at Beaver Lake in St. Paul. On Sunday, searchers will be out again at Keller Lake in the morning and Round Lake and the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge in the afternoon.

The search comes a day after authorities announced that Trevino’s DNA was on a bloody pillow that was found along with a bloody sports bra, shirt and sponge in a plastic bag recovered during an earlier search near Keller Lake.

Cadaver dogs earlier this week indicated the scent of a dead body in the water, according to an amended criminal complaint filed Friday against Trevino’s estranged husband in Ramsey County District Court.

Jeffery D. Trevino, 39, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder after police discovered “copious” amounts of blood in the couple’s Payne-Phalen home and alleged attempts to cover his trail.

Trevino was last seen alive on Feb. 21. She’s presumed dead, though her body hasn’t been recovered.

I pray that she will be found soon, and that her family is given strength. This has to be so difficult. I always feel amazed at the people who come through an ordeal like this and seem to be stronger for it. My heart goes out to her family.
It sure sounds like they have a lot of evidence on the husband, and I think the roommate might be involved, but it could be someone else, you never know.

BBM

Do you think perhaps this is how they determined the areas to search - as dlink asked about above? Could whomever helped JT on the lake be talking?

TIA.

Like I mentioned, I haven't followed this story closely at all. So, I'm just curious as to whether LE has indicated they have spoken with the roommate, if he is cooperating, etc... I would think the roommate would definitely be the one that assisted in the disposal of Kira's body and effects, and the cleanup of the apartment. I remember him saying he heard nothing and knows nothing. I find that extremely hard to believe given the violence indicated by the evidence, and the copious amounts of blood and spatter in the apartment itself...

Prayers for Kira's family continue. Praying that they will be able to find her soon, and bring her home to her loved ones so they can begin the healing process, and so some of these horrid findings won't keep being the focus of the all of the news stories. That's just got to be horrific for her family to read, and know...

:Welcome1:

I've only been reading about Kira's case loosely through local media as I'm here in her hometown area (Wausau). So, I can't answer many of the questions you have posed. But, I'm sure someone will come along and be able to answer some of them.

I also had a question related to how they narrowed in on the search areas which I related in my last post on this thread. I'm thinking if they are remote and varied that someone who knows something may be supplying information to the investigators. Keller Lake itself was likely identified through the witness' information in regard to seeing two people struggling/carrying something on the ice that was apparently the size and shape of a body... Other than that, I just don't know...

I am starting to think because of the speculation that "it's possible the bag with Kira's clothing could have been thrown from a car window" while passing by Keller Lake that she maybe at another location other than Keller Lake itself.
If you think about the comment in bold above this would make sense to me. By dumping this item of interest (Bag ) in one location would obviously bring attention to this area as a possible area to search, when in fact that was the intention of this action. Then the person could have driven to another location to dispose of her body. I don’t think she is at Keller Lake, I believe she is somewhere else.

But with not knowing where exactly this bag of her belongings were found puzzles me. Was this item buried in attempts to hide it or was it on the surface of the snow or likewise. If it was found as quite visible and not buried why would you also dump her body in the same location?

According to articles link on this thread a few pages back, the plastic bag containing the items found with Kira's blood on them was found in Keller Lake.

Investigators were tipped off to the lake from a witness who reported seeing two men between 1am and 2 am on the lake itself who looked to be struggling with carrying something that appeared to be a large rug/shape of a body.

When investigators sent dive teams into the Lake through a hole they cut in the ice, they found another hole that they did not cut. I would assume that the bag was probably found close to that hole as it probably stayed near the surface under the ice. A body in cold water would sink, and apparently there is some current in the lake that flows into another one. With the cadaver dogs hitting on the lake, I think investigators are pretty sure that she is there as well - given the tip that already turned up very clear evidence...

As far as the tip from a indivdual bearing witness to seeing 2 people struggling with a object between the times outline draws a few questions. Is it not dark at that time, which of course would make it difficult to see? Also most of Keller Lake is quite visiable from 61 and the surrounding streets. And for the simple fact that if the husband wanted to play dumb on her where abouts why whould he or anyone dump a body within close prox of their residence.

Also per the police reports and the ammount of blood that was found in the home, you would think even though a body is wrapped up in something, blood would still be dripping in blood. If this is true, then you would think that no matter where a body was dumped, there would be some kind of blood trail. Was there any blood found leading up to the hole, or in the snow/ice?

Real easy to get rid of liquid that drips onto snow/ice. If on snow just scoop it up and drop into hole, and if on ice just wipe it around or take some water from the hole and wash it away.

There has been far too many deaths from domestic violence in MN in the last few months.

I found in todays paper that the Bag was found near Keller Lake not in the water. Also back to the witness that stated that she saw 2 men out on the lake struggle to carry a covered object as she was driving by on hwy 61. How ? It is dark on that lake at that time, and to identify 2 men carring a object the same size as a person? The attached map shows Hwy 61 along Keller Lake. There is no lights and it is dark, so again how did this witness see what they claimed. And how much would 2 men have to struggle with a person that is 5'4" tall and weigh 110 pds? Just a question.

Not sure how, but check the moon that night. Full moon can light up the sky.

ETA: don't know if I did this correctly, but looks like there was a full moon on the 25th? http://www.almanac.com/moon/full/MN/Saint+Paul When was the sighting? Didn't JT report her missing a few days after she actually was missing?

Yes there was only a full moon on Feb 25th. The weather conditions for Feb 22, 2012 was per historial data was:
Temp: High 28 Low 19
Wind: 6 MPH to the North
Precipitation; 0.08
Conditions; Snow,Fog, Rain and/or snow reported during the day.
Visibility: 5.3 miles

The shape of that package looks like it could be a set of barbells to me. I shudder to think about the damage something like that could do.

That would be a good guess. They will obviously test it for blood. And yes that would do some damage. I wounder if JT had a weight set at home?

does anyone have knowledge of where this item was recovered? Was it in close prox of other items of interest like the bag of cloths, and/or the hole in the ice? The way the officer is carrying it, it seems to have some possible weight to the object.
