I have to say I am extremely glad the FBI got involved. I live literally directly across the street from the civic center. 32 apartments in this apartment community directly face the parking lot of the civic center (mine included). Monday morning I expected a knock on the door from a police officer canvassing the area. Nothing.
Thursday they announced that the FBI was involved. I said to my husband that night, perhaps they'll be smart enough to canvas the apartments now? What do you know, bright and early the next morning a police officer knocked on the door. So she went missing Sunday, they waited until Friday to ask if anyone here saw anything.
I'm unable to help with the search since I have a 3 week old baby (this case hits quite close to home), but as far as I know they're not calling for or allowing citizens to volunteer yet. Each time they mention searching it's only after the fact and it only refers to firemen/police officers searching.
I used to go to the local college. I started shortly after Bryan Westfall was hired. I also worked there, so I saw him/dealt with him fairly often. On one hand I hope it *was* him, because the prospect of this being a random attack is very scary (since 3 weeks ago it could have been me). On the other hand, I hope it *wasn't* him, because the thought that someone capable of murder was walking among us at school is really scary also.
In any case, I truly hope and pray that Amanda is found alive and safe. However sadly not many people around here are counting that as a possibility anymore.
