on NG she kept saying the child was last seen in her own front yard. Is that true? I doubt that since the boy was in the house for 20 minutes.

Their house is 4 houses down from the intersection. I imagine that she was somewhere between the front yard and the intersection, but I bet she was much closer to the intersection than to the house.

Shawn Hornbeck's bicycle was taken with him when he was kidnapped, wasn't it? And that was a stranger abduction when he was riding to a friends. And he was older. Much harder to grab both an 11 year old and their bike. Anything is possible.

Yes, I think it would be fairly easy to grab a 3 1/2yo and a small bike and toss them into a vehicle pretty quickly.

Praying for this sweet girl's safety!

Seems like they should have spotted her and/or bike from overhead if she was anywhere at all on the flat landscape...I don't know what to think. Abduction is usually the last thing that occurs to me, as it is the least likely thing to happen, but this could be the real thing. Still, it seems to be a crime of opportunity, if so, and the wrong someone would have had to be passing by at just the right time...

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – In light of the search efforts for a missing three-year old girl in southeast Missouri, many Region 8 residents have been asking why an AMBER Alert has not been issued in the case. SENATH, MO - After more than 2 days of searching for a missing 3-year-old Missouri girl, the FBI and local authorities are offering a cash reward.
They're offering up to $45,000 to anyone with information that
could help find Breeann Rodriguez.
She went missing Saturday around noon, right outside her house in Senath. Now the whole situation has put a
normally trusting neighborhood on edge.

For the small town of Senath, this is an unusual scene

I don't understand why people think an Amber Alert would solve every case, especially those without even a vague vehicle or suspect description. Right now, all it could say is a little dark-haired girl with a pink bike, which she may have been separated from in any event. And I am not sure how flashing that info on the highways would help all that much, JMO...which is what I understood AA's to be mostly about.

I know there was a false report about the bicycle yesterday, turned out to belong to someone else...maybe this is where the rumor on Topix came from...

I am just feeling very shocked about this case, do not know what to think. Can't imagine having a 5-yr old come inside and no one going out to be with the 3-yr old.

When i first seen someone say there has been evidence rushed in to the lab my first thought was maybe someone had a home survelience camera and it picked up what happened but its of poor quallity so they have rushed it in to be inhanced..

I wonder if there is a neighbor whose house she likes to go play at. If she rode her bike down someone's long driveway, and no one was home but the father or grandfather or uncle, then she could have been at the wrong place at the wrong time.

We had a little neighborhood boy whose grandparents were raising him. He was only 3 but he would always get away from them and visit the neighborhood kids houses. He would sometimes go in our side gate and play outback all by himself. I would come home and find him out there playing on the swings, happily humming to himself.

I hope LE went door to door and searched carefully.

On Nancy Grace show tonight i did hear too things that gave me a little more hope . Apparentlly the support of the communitty and other police agencies has been huge but what i liked was that they showed a google earth map of the whole area and its all flat land yes farm land and mostly corn fields but being flat and not alot of trees is good because they had out the helicoptors and they were using the ifra red heat scope so if somehow she did ride off somewhere and is lost in a field I mean to a 3 year old who is small and in a corn field that hasnt been cut it can get to 6 feet tall to her she would be in a forest lost so these heat seeking scopes they have on the helicopter would spot her if thats what happened . Something to hope for at least.

Regarding the amber alert....

A very similar case happened in Ontario Canada, an 8 yr old girl disappeared while walking home from school. No amber alert was issued as the case did not meet the criteria (which requires a vehicle description/abductor description. LE took alot a flack for not issueing the alert. However, it is not LE which makes the rules for this, therefore a number of us on WS and facebook started a petition with over 61,000 signatures, we sent the petition to the government. We now have a revised amber alert in Ontario. The amber alert now requires one or more of the following descriptions: of a child under 18 yrs old who they believe are in danger, vehicle description or abductor description.

We also thought this case in ontario was not hitting the news fast enough, us internet investigators printed off the pic and description of child and emailed them to every news station, newspaper and media outlet possible, we also printed them off and put them in towns miles away. I remember thinking, I wont bother printing them off and putting them up in my town as I live 2 hours away. In the end, the childs body was discovered 10 min from my house.

Even under Ontario's new AMBER Alert criteria that you mention, this would not have qualified for an Alert. There is no vehicle or abductor description. I think, like cluciano mentioned above, there are just some times where an AMBER Alert will not help. The police are working very hard on this case (although the media could be doing better).
