Well, I think it is awesome to let Ferguson residents speak for Ferguson!
P.S. Contrary to potential belief, I am not a Republican, not a Tea Party member, not a Conservative, not a Liberal, not a Democrat (I used to be one, then I got disillusioned) and not (fully) a Progressive. (I'm very socially liberal, very fiscally conservative, have a dim view on American interventionism abroad and also a dim view of illegal immigration because I'm married to a legal immigrant and understand the implicit unfairness in letting people jump the line due to geographical proximity.) I'm an Independent, and a swing voter. Pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, pro-death penalty, and pro-law and order. I know, right? And this isn't a political thread, but I just wanted to clarify that people don't fall into neat categories on issues. Mods, have your way with me, I just thought maybe this thread was getting too 'us vs. them' and I wanted to show that the neither the 'us' nor the 'them' was all that clear-cut. <3

First of all, thanks so much for the response. I really appreciate you trying to answer a very difficult question. And this response is in no way intended to go against what you are trying to say, because I get what you are trying to say and it is fairly close to what I had figured anyway.
That said, there are a couple of things that come to mind. While I have been listening to many horror stories about the Ferguson police, St. Louis police, and police in general, and many horror stories about racism in general, there is one very glaring missing story. Even with all of the vitriol, the screaming, yelling, crying, chanting, riots, protests, television interviews, etc...I have yet to hear ONE SINGLE STORY of anyone coming forward with a story about Officer Darren Wilson. Not one. So not only is his record impeccable, I haven't even heard anyone even try to make one up! Nothing. Not a word.
So while I understand a lot of the anger, mistrust, etc...is the irony completely lost on them that it is completely unfair to label one specific person based on your perception of the whole? Is it any fairer to them to call a white man a racist simply because well...he's white?? Or he must be a racists if he shot an unarmed teenager? While they are running all over the place screaming for the world to hear how unfair they have been treated, how can they possibly miss the fact that is exactly what they are doing to OW?
Honestly, OW was their friend. He served their community. He treated them with respect. He has never once been accused of abusing his authority in any way.
Lastly, if not willing to be swayed by the human element, or the fairness element, how about this. If OW were arrested without probably cause and without proper due process and it ever did go to court, how would they feel if he got off on a technicality caused by a rush to judgment?

Are you watching? Is he smoking and hacking like last night?
It's a hoax from days ago.
Yay! I'm not alone in this wilderness! :thumb: I had been thinking I could be libertarian, but even they have abandoned me.
 to all us political orphans! :heartbeat:
... OK, back OT. :blushing:
Just to be clear, "Mustafa" is the camera dude who recorded the gang mobbing of the poor CRV driver, and insisted to LE that the driver attempted vehicular homicide on him personally....right?
I can share 5 stories about OW off the top of my head- 3 of them I can provide paper evidence of. Not here, of course. One, it's not fair to OW since he's not a member here to defend himself and two, I have little desire to get eaten alive by the posters here. I can't answer as to why you haven't heard anything about him. One of the stories I have personal knowledge of was profiled recently (last week or the week before) on ESPN E60. You can probably google it. As I stated much earlier today, OW was very well known- at least among certain people- in the community, as were other officers, and their reputation among those people was not positive. I can promise you not a single MB supporter thinks of OW as a friend to the community, and many would dispute the level of respect he demonstrated.
As to your point about arresting OW without probable cause, you have to understand that the supporters of MB believe there is probable cause, and that it's already taken too long to bring him to justice. People online are counting the days (I believe today is #44) since the shooting, that OW is a free man. If he was arrested today, you would not be able to convince a single MB supporter that it was a premature act. If he was arrested and ultimately released on a technicality, you still wouldn't be able to convince MB supporters of anything other than what I've already stated.
