Kara disappeared from Belton, MO (which is a suburb of KC) on May 4, 2007. She walked to school that morning, she did not drive at that time. Kara called her mother at around 8 AM and asked her to bring books to school that she had forgotten. She also asked her mother to wash her work clothes for her after school job. At 10:15ish, Kara got into a verbal argument with a teacher and left the classroom. She was seen on a school security camera walking down a hallway and, if I am remembering correctly, was seen leaving the school premises at about 10:30 AM. She never made it home or to her job. The Belton PD figured she had run away. Her family didn't think that was the case considering she asked her mom to bring her the books and wash her work clothes. She left behind her makeup, debit card, iPod, a brand new carton of cigarettes, etc. Stuff that her family says she would have taken with her if she was running away. A week or two before Kara disappeared, Kylr kidnapped her from the parking lot of her job, and she had to jump out of the car. He was arrested but released. After that incident, Kara got a restraining order against him, or at least had started the process. It's been so many years with so much info to remember but I think that Kylr cooperated with police and even passed a lie detector test.
That's the gist of Kara's case. If I forgot anything major, hopefully someone will add the info. Kylr got into trouble after this though and actually just got out of prison earlier this year.
