Incredibly disturbing and graphic details in the full probable cause affidavit, obtained by
KMBC -- one of the most depraved things I've ever read.
Some of the non-graphic information in the probable cause statement:
- The victim reported Haslett used a gas mask on her (pg. 1)
- Among the items recovered by LE on October 7, 2022 were "numerous items of lingerie" in Haslett's bedroom and "an unsecured handgun with the hammer back and a round in the chamber" in the living room couch (pg. 2)
- "Among the several items of evidence that was collected at the residence, was a piece of paper that contained handwritten questions and answers that appeared to have been questions Haslett asked [redacted] followed by [redacted] answers." (pg. 2)
- "The dungeon, was outfitted with two interior security cameras in addition to a security camera that was located outside of the room and positioned towards a shower. The cameras appeared to operate wirelessly and a hard drive or other type of storage system was not located for the cameras. The cameras contained ports for secure digital cards, commonly referred to as SD cards, but none of the cameras were found to contain one. The only door to this room was secured by magnetic locks, similar to what would be seen inside of a business and an interior electronic key pad." (pg. 2)
"A confidential source (CS) was contacted and stated he/she believed Haslett began constructing the room in the basement in 2021." (pg. 2)
- Haslett's phone "contained saved images of Missouri River navigation maps." (pg. 3)
- Janie Crosdale's remains showed "both perimortem high velocity projectile trauma and perimortem blunt force trauma" and the barrel she was found in showed "an apparent bullet defect." (pg. 4)
