Does ANYONE living in the Courtland area have coordinates for the infamous "Sandbox" so I can pull it up on GPS? I know it is east of Courtland, past I-55. I believe it is out near the intersection of McNeely Road and Hentz Road. But I could not spot anything that looked like an old gravel quarry (pit) in that area.

Thanks,

Murder suspect accused of setting teen on fire gives bizarre explanation for own burn marks

September 28, 2018

"The Mississippi murder suspect on trial for allegedly setting 19-year-old Jessica Chambers on fire gave detectives interrogating him a puzzling explanation for his own burn marks.

Quinton Tellis, 29, claimed the injuries were from a bonfire in an interrogation video, which was shown before jurors Friday at his retrial in Panola County Circuit Court for the teen cheerleader’s gruesome death...."

I have been unable to find out the composition of the 12 actual jurors. All I can find are quotes like the following, reporting the “mixture” of jurors and alternates:

“Ultimately 12 jurors were selected along with three alternates. The racial and gender makeup of the jurors is five black females, four black males, three white males, and three white females.”

What I want to know is, assuming all the alternates are dismissed right before deliberations begin, what will the final composition of the jury be, or is that some big secret?

Lead Investigator Reveals Major Flaw In Jessica Chambers Murder Trial (EXCLUSIVE)

Sep 28, 2018

"There was one major flaw in the prosecution's case. ..

In an exclusive sneak peek obtained by In Touch, lead investigator Barry Thompson explains why he felt Quinton was guilty of the murder even though Jessica had allegedly said someone named "Eric" was the one who committed the horrific crime....

While on the stand, Thompson said that Quinton told him he believed that a man named Derrick Holmes had been stalking Jessica. Thompson and his fellow investigators then looked into Holmes' involvement with Jessica before her murder, but Derrick was never developed as a viable suspect in the case because police were able to confirm that Derrick was with his mother in their home at the time of the crime. ...

"Normally, when people lie to you, they’re lying to you for a reason," Thompson said in his confessional. But there was one flaw in the case: it was nearly impossible for Quinton to be able to tell Thompson his whereabouts at the time of the crime because no one really knows the exact time that Jessica was set on fire.

Be sure to catch the next episode of Unspeakable Crime: The Killing of Jessica Chambers, airing Saturdays at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Oxygen."

"You're trying to get me to say I was somewhere I wasn't..."

No, Quenton Verdell Tellis, they're trying to get you to admit you were where an unbiased phone company says you were.

One more significant difference this time from the first trial.

The prosecution is playing selected parts of the Tellis interviews in Nov 2015 and Jan 2016 while ATF Agent Scott Meadows is on the witness stand. Last time it was during MBI Special Agent Tim Douglas' testimony. Now I'm sure Tim will be called to the stand later, don't get me wrong. He was the other person seen most of the time in those interviews, other than DoJ Analyst Paul Rowlette and a brief appearance by the DA, John Champion. Tim was probably "the" key investigator.

But as you saw yesterday, Mr. Meadows has a pretty low key personality. Tim Douglas is a full-speed, go for it kind of guy. I think the prosecution decided they needed to stress how the investigators were very patient and understanding when they were interviewing Tellis, and gave him every opportunity to come clean with them. Having Mr. Douglas on the stand with his very persuasive, very intense, very direct persona might have given the first jury the opinion that he had somehow pressured or coerced Tellis into admitting things during the interviews he didn't really believe.

This time, with a "sea of calm" background laid down by Brother Meadows, "stormy" Douglas can sweep in now and show the jury just how Quentin changed his story multiple times, and how his gestures and demeanor expressed classic deception, something every seasoned investigator is trained to detect.

Good move, Champion.

Did the investigators interview the men who were supposedly with Tellis at the fire where he fell and they helped him up?

First thing that popped in my head too! I'm feeling much better about the "E-is" "Eh-Ih" aka Eric issue but still wish they'd put that speech pathologist back on that stand and have her do a speech exercise/demonstration!!!

"As you sit here today, etc. etc...." over and over by the defense, as if to imply, this was a long time ago, are you sure of your recollections?

"As you sit here today" -- must've been said 50 times already. If I were the prosecution, I'd say, "Objection, your honor. I believe it is apparent to everyone in this courtroom that Agent Meadows indeed sits here today. We do not need to be repeatedly reminded of that fact by the defense."

It's almost as annoying as the prosecutor in the Sidney Moorer trial, whose favorite phrase was, "If you don't mind...."

What does everyone think@about the jury makeup@this time? Better? Worse? Think@it makes a difference? #JessicaChambers #QuintonTellis

YESorNO,

Thank you for that. So, if I do the math correctly and subtract the alternates from the totals, I wind up with the following 12 jurors:

5 African-American women
4 African-American men
2 White men (3 - 1 = 2)
1 White women (3 - 2 = 1)

9 African-American (75%)
3 White (25%)

Does not seem very representative of either Panola County or Obbochita County demographics. I believe the standard is trial by a jury of your peers?

Clouseau
