LE is pretty sharp....it won't take them long to consider every angle.

I had intended to suggest that she might have disappeared on her own. Of course, I believe there was a tooth found. Plus, you would assume that a woman would bring her purse along if she was going to disappear with a bunch of cash. Also, why would someone go shopping right before planning to vanish? I also find it interesting that the business owner is mentioning this now. It's almost as if he knows there is money missing.

Interesting development. The tooth was a cap tooth or partial right? Not an actual tooth. Possible it was staged?

But since Reed went missing, Moore said he noticed discrepancies in his books.

"My biggest concern is my daughters and their future," he said. "This is a horrible thing, not knowing what's going to happen. We're dealing with the federal government, and we don't know if we're going to end up owing back taxes. It's definitely a trial."

I can't see a woman waiting until age 65 to take a chunk of change and desert her husband, grown son and grandchildren. Sounds like LE is investigating on the right track now.

So what did LR do during the week for recreation? Is it possible she had a gambling problem?

Her living and working arrangement was certainly unconventional. My word, her employers gave her a place to live, schooling and I'm assuming a nice salary. I feel so badly for them if she did this to them.

This one sure is a mystery. I'm just not comfortable making any assessment without a lot more information. It seems like the details can provide tons of information on what likely happened to this woman. And I think there is a lot of conflicting info. For example, how could there not be tracks of a second vehicle? I doubt that she flew away or was abducted by aliens. I suppose she might have walked to another location. It's possible that someone else drove her vehicle to that location. But I could swear that I read that dogs did not pick up a stranger's scent.

hmmm, interesting turn of events.... money missing

The owner never noticed any discrepancies over thirteen years and now he does and Mrs Reed is missing.

This can certainly go either way... she took the money and ran or she found money missing and approached someone about it

Sounds like authorities believe Ms. Reed had been embezzling money for a while. So sad that this happens frequently. Reed had worked for her employer for many years and was well trusted. Who knows the circumstances that lead to these sort of desperate acts....just praying she is found and is safe. There is always hope that someone can rectify whatever issues there may be....

At this point I'm thinking the two up north aren't related either, but I'm still trying to verify their locations. I'm not saying Holly and dnstslp are wrong. I just came up with different locations. Prolly doesn't make a hill of beans. Sounds like this story might be headed a diff direction anyway.

I'll post my locations anyway, then move on. I wish I knew how to post a map.

Mr. Schlender - I-55 in Panola County. A media video I watched showed an exit number 237 sign. That would be the Hentz Rd exit on I-55. Sounds like he was shot while still driving.

Ms. Carswell - Tunica County. I first read MS 713 @ I-69. MS 713 looks to be the same as MS 304, Old MS 304 and Casino Strip Resort Blvd. She worked at a casino, so she was headed east on that road and somewhere around where it turns into I-69 is where she was murdered. Not sure if she would take I-69 or turn onto 304 (there's an intersection right there). Both highways head towards Hernando where she lived.

I'm going by media stories and using Mapquest and Google Earth. I'm not going to do mileages. They are both way up north.

Anyway, those are the locations I found.

All I know is this is one strange case.

I found it odd that in all of the articles immediately following the disappearance, only the owner's wife was quoted, not the owner himself. Does anyone have any media on the owner immediately afterwards?

The early articles also state that she was the "bookkeeper" for several other businesses in the area. I would be very interested to know what type of businesses. :twocents:

My husband and I were talking about this very possibility a few days ago. But I had sort of dismissed it. Now I'm reading about it.

Missing Copiah County woman under investigation for possible embezzlement

4:47 PM, May. 15, 2012

The owner of a business that employed missing Copiah County woman Linda Reed confirmed Tuesday that he is working with law enforcement to find out if it’s possible that she could have been embezzling money before she disappeared.
Shannon Moore, of Moore’s Fabrications in Gallman, said Reed has worked for him since 1999. She had check-signing authority over his business, he said.

Yeah, especially the cash. Is there more than one owner? If so, could one have embezzling and she discovered it?

One last post. Not sure why I didn't see the discrepancy before

After that, co-workers said, she came back to the office and realized she still needed to pick up some groceries. She told them not to lock the workplace gate because she would be leaving to go back to Walmart not long after them.

When Reed's co-workers arrived at Moore's Fabrications Monday morning, the gate was locked from the outside, Moore said.

"She's always the first one here," Moore said of Reed. "She always locks the gate at night and unlocks it in the morning."
...

BBM and underline too. BTW, the Moore quoted here is the wife, not the owner.

My thoughts exactly. Kinda hope she took the money and ran since that would at least mean she's alive. Not feeling that though. Prayers Linda is found!!!!
