Reminds me of April Jones. Sadly I think this little one is gone. It only takes minutes to do something bad; I know a family member on SM says they saw him at 11 but this would have been more than enough time. Just hope he talks.

A massive manhunt is underway to find a 4-year-old girl missing in Montana, authorities said

Am I reading this wrong? The Amber Alert has been canceled with the child still missing?
(I'm sorry if this has already been posted; I went through the whole thread and didn't see any mention of this.)

In my opinion, that can only mean one thing at this point. They have clear evidence she is deceased. Amber Alerts are issued to find living children - once the child is declared dead, the alert is cancelled.

Montana AMBER Alert Criteria

To initiate an AMBER Alert, call 9-1-1 and provide your local law enforcement agency with all the information you can about a suspected child abduction. To activate the program, all of the following criteria must be met:

There is reasonable belief by law enforcement that a child has been abducted or has disappeared under suspicious circumstances.
The missing child is age 17 years or younger, or has a proven mental or physical disability.
The law enforcement agency believes the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
There is enough descriptive information about the victim and abduction for law enforcement to issue an AMBER Alert to assist in the recovery of the child.
The child’s name and other critical data elements, including the Child Abduction flag, have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer.
The AMBER Alert system is not used to track runaways, missing children or children involved in custody disputes. The program is restricted to child abduction cases that could be life threatening.

So yes she has been abducted. Yes she is 17 or younger. Yes to descriptive information. Yes to child's name.

The no would be that she's in imminent danger...so she's either passed or they feel she is safe. Unfortunately, I believe it's the first.

May it have been cancelled because the suspect is in custody? Would that mean the criteria is no longer met?

Clinging onto hope here but it doesn't bode well :(

No, I don't think so. If they believe she were stashed somewhere alive, the Alert would still be in effect.

<modsnip>
I hope the alert is cancelled because they no longer have a suspect to search for . But that Montana alert has a different criteria than I'm used to seeing so I don't know.
Hang on little M. Help is on the way.

It looks like a new Facebook page has been created, but it's a closed group. There's not much left on the community page.

Officers had gone door to door looking for Lieba before finding him in a vehicle. But the hunt for M continues.

Authorities cannot yet confirm what Lieba's relationship is to the girl, if any, but locals reported that he has been living in the town on the reserve for some time.

[...]

Officers told NBC News they were 'following up on every lead' and going 'house to house' in a 'massive law enforcement response'.

An aerial search, using both military and private aircraft, is also under way.
