I can't find anything new. What has he said? If the FBI took over the investigation would the Sheriff still give a press conference with new info?

Well, he has been speaking out but not giving lots of specifics but clearing up some important facts. Not sure if that's protocol. Let me get the article for you. These were posted here but the thread was moving so fast that I can't remember who posted what. http://helenair.com/news/crime-and-...cle_4e1d2f5c-897c-5ce5-86c1-4f09eb4329eb.html

"Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich told The Spokesman-Review the kidnapping narrative will remain in question 'until we actually find out what is going on.'

'We know where the body was located; we know where she started out,” he told the newspaper. “What happened in between? Don’t know.'

"At one point Wednesday, reports surfaced that a suspect was captured on surveillance video where Maze's credit card had been used. A law enforcement official said reports of a possible person of interest that were indicated in preliminary reports were inaccurate. Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich said they have not ruled out any possible means of what happened, that includes kidnappings, homicide and suicide. The FBI has not addressed whether or not there is a suspect at this point. "

So a gun shot causes more damage when shot through a barrier vs being shot through no barrier?

I'm not buying this. IMO.

That is what I was thinking--the seat would slow it down and result would be a small hole not a completely busted out window. JMO.

My read: She is on camera using the card. She's indicating on video that there's someone else. "Someone else" is not on video.

We don't know if it was a hollow point to know if it would mushroom out or not.

A hollow-point bullet is an expanding bullet that has a pit or hollowed out shape in its tip often intended to cause the bullet to expand upon entering a target in order to decrease penetration and disrupt more tissue as it travels through the target.

Could this have been a cry for help/attention, a mental breakdown that went terribly wrong? Maybe she didn't want to pass away but police didn't arrive as fast as she thought they would? Could explain the phone call that the officer heard. I really don't know but the way the LE is responding reminds me of that women who went missing recently and turned up in Ohio.

Based on her fb she followed some missing cases. :(

But her story was that she was hit on the head and put in the truck while at a rest stop.

But, maybe.

Maybe when he hit her on the head whatever he hit her with also shattered the window. It was the driver's side, right? He hits her from behind while she's unlocking th door or getting ready to get in.

Which could be what happened or could be what she was trying to make it look like.

Although now that I think about it driving into a gas station with a busted window would attract attention. Hmm...

Yes, we need to know if the car window was busted out in surveillance video.

Though officials were pursuing a person of interest who was seen on surveillance footage, Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton said the individual has been ruled out.

"They had a still shot from a convenience store that they worked to find the person of interest. It was not somebody that was involved in this case," he said Thursday afternoon.

While Rita Maze was on the phone with her husband, Rochelle Maze reportedly called the police officer who had taken the missing person's report.

"Every single thing my mom was saying to my dad, my dad was saying out loud and I was telling the officer," the daughter said.

So she might not have actually spoken to her?

Car was a 2005 and had emergency latch in trunk.

The FBI confirmed on Thursday there is no person of interest in the case. The Spokane Sheriff told KHQ they aren’t ruling out anything whether it be kidnapping, homicide, or self-inflicted.

Rita’s daughter Rochelle Maze, told KHQ that her mother was in Helena Monday to visit family. She stayed overnight.

On Tuesday, she got in a car and started driving, called her husband around 11:25 a.m. and said she would go back to Helena to see her mom again.

I'm getting more confused by the minute :(

From your link

An interesting side note, Maze was driving a 2005 Pontiac grand prix, which includes an interior trunk release button, that means someone in the closed trunk could open it from the inside.

I hope I can post this.

I see she posted an Amber Alert for Montana and a shared a few police requests for info on suspects in crimes around Montana. She followed local police pages and posted to try to help solve crimes local to her area. Seems pretty common, IMO. She wasn't following cases from all over the country. I only looked back a few months on her timeline though.
