What can she possibly say though? "Oh yes I misplaced these kids years ago and didn't notice until now"
I mean, we've seen countless other "parents" of children who were first claimed to be runaways, initially get on tv and plead for their safe return. Only to learn in time that these "parents" had killed them.

These documents also show the academy's establishment in 2007, followed by the enrollment of two new students in 2013.

Interestingly, that's the same year Blake Deven and another child, not London, were adopted by Avantae Deven.
Missing persons case: Homeschool connection emerges for Blake and London Deven

Authorities said in a press release Thursday that the Deven family moved to 1433 Berridale Drive in 2019 and continues to live there. Investigators have searched the home multiple times over the past month.

Police also revealed Thursday that the Deven family moved to 1834 Eichelberger Drive in late 2016, where they lived until 2019. The family currently living at the house is not related to the investigation and is fully cooperating, according to authorities.

Officials are asking anyone who has been to either home to contact them.

"Investigators are asking anyone who visited these addresses, delivered something, bought something, sold something repaired something or saw something to contact us," police said in a news release Thursday.

What's odd about this is London's biological mother says she hasn't seen London since 2001, and Avantae adopted London in 2011, so presumably this photo originated from Avantae in some way and was shared with London's biological mother... so why couldn't LE get a more recent photo (or even that same 2011 photo) from the Deven family?

there seems to be a pattern. For someone who regularly fostered and adopted children, she has apparently kept few photos over the years. I personally find that very odd, particularly for children she went to the trouble of adopting, who wouldn't have gone on to reside at other foster settings after having spent time with Ava.

ETA I hadn't seen where London's mother hadn't seen her since 2001? I thought she hadn't seen her since 2011 when AD wanted to adopt her.

Foster said she met Avantae Deven before London’s adoption.
“She was wanting to adopt her,” she said. “She seemed like a nice person. You put somebody you love and cherish in somebody’s care and hope for the best.”

Sherry Foster, the biological mother of Deven, said she hadn’t seen or heard from her daughter since 2011 and didn’t learn of Deven’s disappearance until Thursday, April 4.

However, several questions remain about the disappearances of Blake and London Deven, including:

Are both Blake and London Deven still alive?
Will anyone be charged with a crime related to the missing people?
What prompted Fayetteville police to issue a news release about Blake Deven in the first place on March 28, 2024? What or who tipped them off?
If Blake Deven was reported missing in January 2024, why did police wait until March 28, 2024, to publicly announce it?
What specifically did Fayetteville police find in their search of the homes on Berriedale Drive and Eichelberger Drive?
Are authorities searching any other locations related to the missing people?
What is Cumberland County Children’s Services' role in these cases?
Of the three properties searched on March 27, 2024, where specifically did law enforcement search? What did they find?
Why did law enforcement provide an age-processed photo of Blake Deven, but not of London Deven?
Why aren’t there any photos of London Deven as an adult?
Missing people: Timeline of Blake Deven and London Deven’s disappearances in Fayetteville

I'll add my own to the list above:
What are the specifics of the "incident "at Walmart in January 2024 that prompted Avantae Deven to spontaneously report Blake missing?
Where were the remains that may or may not be related to this case located?
What is the sex of those remains (surely authorities know this, skeletal remains are relatively easy to sex due to the differences in the pelvic bone structure)?
Where is Avantae Deven now and why have we heard crickets from the woman who reported Blake missing?
Some of your questions are answered in the article you linked - within the timeline and also in the press conference video. But the important core questions remain unanswered.

Reporters asked- the Chief would not answer them, it’s an open investigation. Repeatedly said what they need help with is getting the posters out with the photos and if anyone saw or interacted with the family in the last several years. To contact them or the FBI. They have a gap in their timeline and need help from the public.

Looks like WRAL's article-writers are getting a little sloppy. The photo is from 2011, but Chris Lovingwood says in this video that bio mom hasn't seen her since 2001. Lovingwood has been pretty involved in this case, and I believe 2001 is the correct year, and the article you've linked was confusion on the writer's part about the photo. 2001 also matches up with what London's biological mother has said, and the photos she has shared that are of her with London.

My guess is that since London wasn't adopted until 2011, bio mom may have received more updates on London between 2001-2011--photos, report cards, something like that--until Avantae adopted her.

What is the sex of those remains (surely authorities know this, skeletal remains are relatively easy to sex due to the differences in the pelvic bone structure)?

It's much harder in children who are pre pubescent.

Even with adult skeletons, they sometimes get it wrong (e.g. the Lovers of Modena) and sometimes it's impossible to tell (e.g. Hasanlu Lovers)

I mean, we've seen countless other "parents" of children who were first claimed to be runaways, initially get on tv and plead for their safe return. Only to learn in time that these "parents" had killed them.

There's a reason why Shannon Matthews is a household name in the UK, even 16 years later. It was a wild ride... someone decided to bring out 'Shannon Matthews: The Musical' a couple of years ago, which was taking it too far but it does go to show how it stuck in the public imagination (spoiler: she's alive and well, and living under an assumed identity)

This is by far the most convoluted missing person I have ever seen. MOO <modsnip> I'm not sure anyone will ever know the names the adopted mom was actually born with. I'm not even sure she knows at this point.

Crazy stuff. It's possible any children Avantae's parents birthed were born under the radar and don't have any true identity. Just my opinion here.

Those who are searching may not know the persons Real birthday and birthplace so they could be unable to find the document due to lack of identifiers. Or maybe the documents aren’t searchable online and only through a government office, we’re talking 1960s here. Are name-change petitions from the 70s-90s online and in a public database? There are legal documents online (property deed and marriage) going back to the 90s so there is a legal identity associated to this person.

unfortunately outside of WS, there is not a requirement to back up your claims and statements with any links/real proof so there are people elsewhere who have created a narrative/conspiracy theory but (IMO) haven’t shown any real evidence to support it.

All MOO

In an over eight-minute recording punctuated with sighs, a story peppered with inconsistencies emerges in the 911 call.

Before the Devens moved to Fayetteville, it appears Avantae Deven was living in Buncombe County — IRS tax records show her living in Enka, an unincorporated community there, while she was the registered agent for a nonprofit called the Infinity Institute from 2011 to 2016.

The Infinity Institute was established in Nevada by Robert Adams, a teacher of a philosophy of Hinduism called Advaita Vedanta, in 1996, according to the nonprofit’s website and Nevada state records.

Property records show an LLC created in New Mexico owns Avantae Deven’s Berriedale Drive home. According to records from the New Mexico Secretary of State’s website, Avantae Deven registered the LLC, called Nelson & Johnson, under a Sedona, Arizona, address in September 2016. The LLC’s purpose was listed as “gatherings for various artists [sic] showings and book sharing/readings.”

“He is generally religious, and he used to go back and forth about a Buddhist retreat, and meditation, things like that,” Avantae Deven says. “My daughter did that once for six months, and she called, so I thought, OK. He’s very independent and high-strung and very bossy, so it’s not very unlikely of his character.”

Avantae Deven tells the operator her son doesn’t have any medical or mental health conditions, apart from being diagnosed with what she calls “sporadic encephalopathy” when he was younger. Encephalopathy is damage or disease to the brain, leading to a change in mental state.

Wow, what a bombshell !!! Looks like they can't locate AD, at this point.

I’m assuming the daughter that AD is referring to in the 911 call is London? So both children have history of talking about going to Buddhist retreats or is she saying that London did go to a retreat for 6 months? I have to listen to that call again.
Where did you go to listen to the call?
