Sounds like they're probably going to turn on each other and we'll have a mostly compete picture fairly soon.

Cody needs some actual professional help. I hope this is a wake up call for him. Nothing is going to bring Brittany back but he has his own children, several of them and it’s probably time he gets his life on track and be there for those kids. Brittany’s kids lost their mommy, it would be really awful if Cody’s kids lost his daddy too.

They were together for a long time and they loved each other in their own ways, so I do worry about him, since he is also an addict and is in a vulnerable position.

I agree. This is a major crossroads for him right now. He can use this pain to fuel his desire to stay clean and get back on track OR it can bring him down and back into his addiction.

I hope he can get some professional support and maybe a live in treatment type thing?

I don’t remember one being mentioned.

I didn’t realize she had any family other than the grandmother that gave them the space heater.

I don’t understand why they would be unhappy about how the media covered the case. Also don’t understand why they would criticize LE. Brittany was found and an arrest was made in less than a week. I don’t understand what more the family wants unless they think others may be involved. If they know something, they should share that info with LE. I’m sure there is a lot more to the story that we don’t know.

She sure did! Looked like she has her haired freshly coiffed and everything. She appeared to be looking for someone in the courtroom as she was walking/being escorted out. Wonder who she was expecting to see? I know it was just a small thing, but I feel that whomever she was looking for could be important to the case. Unless she was looking for her Mama.....

Johnson started shaking his head when she read the charges. Couldn’t discern any such response from Trevathan.
 
"On Monday, the Wake County Sheriff's Office opened a homicide investigation, from a missing person's case, following the discovery of a body stuffed in a bag, near the shoreline of the Neuse River, in Raleigh," reads the statement.

Police allege Smith was strangled to death.

A motive has not been disclosed.

Smith's cousin, Brooke Pinel-Fereol, spoke to WTVD, and said only "monsters" could've killed a pregnant woman.

"Evil people," Pinel-Fereol insisted. "None of that should have happened to her at all. Brittany was a good person, a good mom, a good granddaughter."

The cousin said Smith loved dancing and her two kids.

Police ask that anyone with any information on the murder come forward as soon as possible by contacting the Wake County Sheriff's Department at (919) 856-6911.

There was an arrest of emmalei in Nov. 2020. The charges included prostitution first offense and another charge with a weapon (plus 2 more). I googled her name sumter sc. I will get a link from the computer, or maybe someone else can find it. There were 4 charges, I believe.
