Who was the last person to see her at 7:00 pm outside her apt. and who called Ebonee's mother at 1:00 am to say that they had been waiting for Ebonee at her apt. for three hours and she hadn't shown up?

http://www.twcnews.com/nc/coastal/n...mes-together-to-search-for-missing-woman.html

She was last seen at the boys and girls home?

+++
Her mother says when she calls, it goes straight to voicemail and says the mailbox is full.
"No young person these days lets their phone get full without answering it," Rivers said.

The camera does a close-up of best friend coquita whitaker’s phone. The number comes up – if you call it – it says it’s not taking calls at this time, BUT gives you the option to leave a voicemail at the tone. I left one. I doubt anything will come of that. Her google + page had a post that said “cricket password 0811”

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - It's been five days since Harriet Rivers has talked with her daughter. As each hour passes, her worries intensify.
"My mind is telling me to think the best but given the way things are happening around town its hard," Rivers said.
Ebonee Spears, 30, was reported missing by her family after they didn't hear from her Friday night. Spears' 13-year-old daughter was spending the night with her grandparents that evening. Rivers says they thought Ebonee might come over for dinner, but she called to say she had already eaten a salad and was good. Rivers says its unlike her daughter to go out on a Friday night.
"My daughter quit going out years ago," River said. "This is just not her nature."
Rivers said police searched an area around Taylor Homes apartments Tuesday where Spears lives, but there was no sign of the missing woman.
"A detective called me yesterday afternoon and said they had the dogs out by D.C. Virgo and the Community Boys Club and helicopters were out looking," Rivers said Wednesday night.
Rivers says she believes her daughter is still alive but not able to contact her.
"At this point, I'm thinking she's somewhere being held against her will because she would have called me," she said.
Rivers says her daughter desperately needs her medication. She's being treated for Lupus and depression.
If you have any information on Spears' whereabouts, you should contact police right away.

- What were her last known whereabouts for the two days leading up to her disappearance
- Why did someone wait three hours for Ebonee before calling her mother at 1:00 a.m.
- The news reports state her cellphone’s voicemail is full, but it is still accepting calls
- There was a huge 200-attended anti-drug rally the afternoon she went missing hosted by famous pro-basketball players
- Her medication for lupus was making her disoriented the night before
- All she had to eat was a salad that night
- Went missing between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.?

Reward offered for information about missing woman

The CUE Center is offering a no questions asked $3,000 reward to whoever can help find Ebonee. Caison says their job is to be an advocate for the family, so they simply want tips that the police can use to locate Ebonee.

"We offered the reward for seven days hoping that if there's information, people will make the call now and not let it linger on for a year or so," Caison explained. "So that's why there's a time limit."

From your link:

Previously, WPD said Spears was last seen at Taylor Estates. Today, Varrone said she was last seen at WPD Friday, January 15 around 8 p.m. Spears asked for a phone at the front desk and left, police said.

* * * * * * *
Interesting that now they say the last place she was seen was at the Police station. Why did it take them this long to release/figure that information out?

OK, I NEED YOUR HELP!!!

This case has taken a serious turn.

Ok. This case is now officially bizarre.

Ebonee is missing. She took her cellphone with her.

Ebonee's car and pocketbook was found at her home but her cell phone is missing.
Her mother says when she calls, it goes straight to voicemail and says the mailbox is full.
"No young person these days lets their phone get full without answering it," Rivers said.

After 3 weeks, the police announce she was last seen on foot leaving the police dept at 8 pm.
They have her cellphone.

Her vehicle was still at her house, as were her keys and a cellphone, he said. There's been no activity on her bank accounts and, from what investigators can tell, no activity from Spears on her social media accounts.

They are looking into her phone records. They have her cellphone.

Police are looking at Spears's bank and phone records but said there has not been any recent activity.

Varrone said it appears Spears did not take any personal belongings from her home when she disappeared.

They don’t have her phone records.

Every morning for the last three and a half weeks, Harriet Rivers says she wakes up and does the exact same thing -- she calls her daughter. But every time her call goes straight to voice mail, which has been full since 30-year-old Ebonee Spears vanished.

Rivers stressed how grateful she has been for Wilmington Police, but says something they have not been able to get are Ebonee's phone records.
She says police have told her the phone company has not released them yet -- something she says could be the key to finally finding her daughter.

Police have a video of her coming into the station, but they won’t release it.
http://www.starnewsonline.com/article/2016160219971

+++++

What we know:

- Ebonee talked to mother at 7pm. She had eaten a salad and she was watching TV.

- Ebonee entered police station on foot at 8pm asked to use the phone, (meaning she didn’t have her phone), when the phone wouldn’t work, she left on foot.

- A friend of the family called Ebonee’s mother at 1am to say they had been waiting at Ebonee’s apt. for 3 hours and she hadn’t shown up.

What we need to know:

- Her cellphone:
Where is it?
How are the police to check her phone activity when they haven’t received the records?

Her mother said the voicemail was full.

<modsnip>

Now, they say they have her phone, and she came into the police station to make a call.

Does the police video of her coming in to use the phone contradict the previous report of her phone missing, so they changed it? Is that why this information keeps changing?

- Police

Why search in the wrong places for weeks?
Why did they wait so long to release the actual location?

- Video:

Why won’t they show the video?
Does it show what she is wearing?

++++

From day one, there were discrepancies with:

- Location last seen
- Cellphone voicemail full (it wasn’t on Jan 31, when I called her and left a message)
- Police urgency
- Police searches

Now, there are issues with:
- Police were last to see her
- Police searched wrong place
- Cellphone was reported missing previously
- Police monitoring phone activity
- Still missing cellphone records

Now there’s TWO last known whereabouts?!

Her cellphone is not missing and they have her phone records, though her mother reported the day before that her cellphone was missing and they had not received her cellphone records.

Investigators have tracked Spears’ last known whereabouts to in front of her apartment around midnight Friday, Jan. 15, according to Wilmington Police Department Capt. Jim Varrone, commander of the Criminal Investigative Division. Just hours before, Spears was at Wilmington police headquarters on Bess Street at about 8 p.m.
Spears was at the police department, which is within walking distance from her home, trying to make a phone call, Varrone said. She apparently became frustrated and walked away from the building. Varrone said the police department did not find a record of any phone call made on their courtesy phone at that time.
In each sighting, both at the police department and at her apartment in the 1300 block of Brooklyn Lane in the The Pointe at Taylor Estates community near downtown Wilmington, Spears was reportedly alone.
“She wasn’t with anybody…at the time,” Varrone said.

Investigators and other officers have also searched locally on foot, by helicopter and mounted patrols and have used search dogs. Spears reportedly left her purse, keys, cell phone and other personal belongings behind. There was no indication that Spears was going to leave town, Varrone said.

Detectives have yet to find any sign of any activity in her phone records, personal bank accounts, or on her social media websites, Varrone said.

I came to say the same.. That they just yesterday reported that she came into the police station at 8PM to use the phone. Knowing the area well, I would like to mention that the police station is about a quarter mile from her home, so it is walkable.

How she called her mom from home at 7.. was at the station at 8.. was reported being seen at her house at 12 but a friend waited 3 hours and didnt see her- then called her mom at 1.. ..
Now it saying her phone was left behind fills in the part about her using the police phone. Maybe she walked somewhere after speaking to her mother at 7 and thought maybe she left it and was calling to see who had it? But then again, her wallet was left behind....so it couldnt of been to somewhere she would need money...

Who saw her at midnight? Are they lying? Can it be verified? What about her friend waiting for her?

Something isnt adding up. <modsnip>

I think some of the discrepancies in the articles is from bad reporting.

This is all very confusing and unsettling. :sigh:

I am just as confused as the rest of you! I hope we get clarification in some form.

I'm totally confused as well. I hate to even bring it up, but it has happened before with other missing person cases, but could she possibly have been an informant for the police, something happened while she was "working" for them , now they are trying to cover it up? Do we know of any prior arrests that might have put her in a position? All of this is purely questions/speculation. I'm not even claiming to believe this is what happened. Just trying to throw out scenarios that come to mind. Just seems like either bad reporting, covering up, or something fishy going on. Maybe all the above? None of this makes much sense though.

Thanks for the help everyone.

IMO only:
The police didn't investigate the case and once they discovered the video footage of her at the police station the night she was missing, they had to change the details to fit the video. All reports up to that point said she had her cellphone with her, which doesn't make sense if she came into the police station to use the phone. The new witness who says they saw her in front of her apartment is fabricated, since it couldn't happen with someone sitting there for three hours from 10 pm to 1 am waiting for her and she never showed up. If the police station were the last place she were seen, then they have no explanation for why they had been searching in the wrong place for over three weeks.
As for the phone, either the police have had it the whole time or they never bothered to check it because I KNOW FOR A FACT it was NOT off and the voicemail was NOT full on January 31.

Here's the latest summary and again, thanks for all of your assistance!

EBONEE SPEARS QUESTIONS

CELLPHONE:
Where is it?
How was I able to call and leave a message on Jan. 31, when her mother has called it every day since Jan. 16 and says it’s turned off and the voicemail’s full?

LOCATION LAST SEEN:
Who provided the information?
How could they have seen her alone outside of her apartment at 12 am, when a family friend was waiting there for her from 10 pm – 1 am and she never showed up?

MISSING POSTER:
Are the details regarding her location last seen and missing cellphone correct?

MISSING POSTER - correct information?

Case Number:2016001807
Location Last Seen: 1318 Brooklyn Lane, Apartment D, Taylor Holmes Estates, Wilmington, NC 28401
Circumstances of Disappearance: She disappeared from her home without medication, leaving her 12-year-old daughter, left her 2 vehicles, purse, ID all were still at home. Only her cellphone is missing.
http://www.blackandmissinginc.com/cdad/index.cfm?MissingInfoID=2160

IMO: I think it's because the police didn't investigate and now that details are coming to the surface they are having to change the details to fit the video of her entering the police station the night she went missing. She had some minor arrests when she was younger, but nothing that would suggest she had any involvement personally with the police.
Just knowing that she was reported missing on January 16 and the police didn't announce it or begin their investigation until after the Martin Luther King holiday, and reading at the initial news reports that only state how hard the police are looking for her AFTER they are criticized by her mother and friends for not offering any assistance.

I wish I knew how to verify the information sources for the phone records and the witnesses.

Anyone know where to seek confirmation outside of the family? Media?

(I'm not calling the WPD.)

I came to say the same.. That they just yesterday reported that she came into the police station at 8PM to use the phone. Knowing the area well, I would like to mention that the police station is about a quarter mile from her home, so it is walkable.

Something isnt adding up. <modsnip>

If they are referring to the WPD station in front of the airport... it's "walkable" but it's not reasonable for someone to walk there. There's nothing out there. At 8 p.m., it be pitch dark and you'd be walking in ankle high overgrown grass along a highway in the middle of nowhere... without a cellphone, wallet, or keys. She owned two cars.

Plus... here's the kicker. She the particular type of lupus that she suffers from particularly affects the joints. No way would she have walked that far willingly.

It would seem she got in someone's car for what she thought was going to be a quick trip. They parted ways for some reason in the vicinity of the police station. She walked there to call someone to come get her. The phone didn't work. She left thinking the person was still in the area and she would run into them again shortly.

She did have a reaction to her medication the night before that caused her to become disoriented; however, if she were to experience the same reaction again, she still wouldn't have made it walking straight from her apt. to the WPD.

<modsnip>

So, not personally knowing how she's "acting disoriented," she did slam the receiver down on the phone. She was pissed. Why didn't she use the phone at the Scotsman or the airport? Because she thought whoever she was with was still nearby or she was kidnapped by someone else on her way walking to another phone. If she were in physical distress, she would have had the police assist her.

Her presence at the WPD was in the middle of a ongoing situation occurring between her and the person that drove her to that area.

I think the sighting in front of her apt at midnight is bogus. If police didn't place her there, that would mean they had been searching in the wrong location for over three weeks. Same as with the cellphone, if they say she left it behind, it corroborates the police video of her asking to use the phone.

Sorry for stating the obvious, but this looks bad. I feel for this beautiful woman!

" Why didn't she use the phone at the Scotsman or the airport? Because she thought whoever she was with was still nearby or she was kidnapped by someone else on her way walking to another phone. If she were in physical distress, she would have had the police assist her. "

The "police department" over by the airport is the jail. There is a scotchman there too, but this isnt where she was.
No one would walk to the airport regardless because it sits WAY back from the street. Takes me about 3 minutes just to drive to it from that intersection. The PD she walked into on Bess street is by her house and is across the street from a community pool and spashpad. I've taken my kids to this spashpad and there are people sitting on benches/walking by the police station the whole time.

posting just incase we can use it at somepoint.
