NC - McKenzie Sessoms, 11, murdered, Salemburg, 6 Sept 2013 *suspect in custody*

From WRAL article, Nov 5, 2013:

"The autopsy report notes that she was found on a living room couch covered by a quilt, with her body wedged against a pillow. Her pants were rolled inward, and her bra was askew, the report states."

"The Sampson County Sheriff’s Office has been investigating the case as a homicide since shortly after her death. Authorities said Tuesday that they have no suspects in the case."

Hard to say how long the time "since shortly after her death" was. Hopefully, not long. But it seems something's missing from their evidence, preventing them from arresting whoever did this.

P.S. this is just me surmising, nothing explicitly stated by reports, but I don't think she had her own room with a bed. She had just recently moved to her father's house for reasons not divulged.

I've been away from this thread for (obviously) several days and am now catching up. "Homicidal asphyxia." Oh, man. Was this done to quiet her, was it the "game," to make her still while other things were going on with her?? OMG, what did they do to this little girl who loved horses?

Thank you all for keeping this angel's story up front while we await justice. I just spent an hour on her poor mother's Facebook page and the woman is just heartbroken and lost for justice. So so sad.

Nothing. I surmise either they have hit a brick wall or they don't want to pursue this for whatever reason. How can this be? They know who was at that house.

I saw on the Justice For Mckenzie's facebook that the Sampson Co. sheriff Jimmy Thornton is up for re-election this year and Freddie Butler will be running against him. If Butler is elected I hope he does a better job at investigating Mckenzies rape and murder.I will be sending Butler a letter.

Well, I've just looked at all the area MSM -- N&O, WRAL, Fay. Observer, Sampson County something-or-other, Google -- and nothing, nihil, nada, rien, nichts, gʼárnyşt, niente, nichego, goose eggs.

No one is even talking about it. Except us and her mom.

I appreciate all you folks reaching out to all those people and companies, even NG. I have a feeling that one of them just might take a look. Just a little feeling.

How I wish we had someone close to the town, or the sheriff, etc.

We'll just keep on keepin' on... for McKenzie's sake. Justice is also for the little-known and those with little. It's got to be.

Unbelievable! Just saw this case last night, read all pages, and it is like this murder is just swept under the carpet to be forgotten!!

This may be a small town, with backward ways, people covering for each other, and terrified to snitch on this family. IMO. If this is the case, where was CSF, why did Mom let her go live with father under what seems circumstances not conducive for a 12 year old girl, and WTH is the father not charged with endangerment to a child?

It doesn't say much for the LE in the area if they are bullied by a group of townspeople!! Of course, it has probably been going on for ages and is " just the way it is". IMO.

Heather Locklear's body (awaiting confirmation of identification but LE is pretty sure) was found very near, as in less than 10 miles, from Mckenzie's house. It's unknown whether Heather was sexually assaulted, but my guess is yes. Mckenzie lived in Salemburg, and Autryville is right down the road. And they think she was asphyxiated.

Is somebody in that area making a habit of killing girls? Cumberland County investigators ought to look at who was at Mckenzies house that night. You never know.
