I am aware of how the GAL system works. I just couldn't confirm for the poster asking the question IF every state has GAL's, but clearly indicated that I felt all the states had GAL's.

Sorry, did not mean to imply you did not know. Just to confirm that yes- every state has a GAL program; but every state runs them differently according to attorney/volunteer/ or attorney AND volunteer- usually according to caseload.

DSS records are privileged and not open. It is for the benefit of all children that those records be kept privet, so in order for LE to see what is in the records they do have to get a formal permission to do so.

It's my opinion keeping children's DSS records sealed doesn't benefit the child. It protects DSS and all their mistakes.

IMHO I have seen it work both ways. DSS protecting themselves... as well as DSS protecting children from neglectful and/or abusive situations. That's why the GAL idea exists. Their singular purpose is in protecting the child SPECIFICALLY and ONLY. GAL's sign a legal agreement to put aside all efforts, concerns, etc except for the benefit of the child(ren) they are assigned.

Someone, somewhere has the records of this situation, of that much I am certain. As to whether or not the records are accurate.... that remains to be seen. Would not surprise me either way, but there is no way to verify that barring hearsay.

IMHO they should have had those records right away with a subpoena.
BY NOW those records IMHO have been altered.
IT SHOULD ALSO BE that at the end of each visit they writ a report and time clock it so it can not be changed at all.

IN this particular case you may actually be correct...BUT that is not the reason for keeping a record sealed.
If a child has a prostitute, or drug addicted parent, remember this child still has to live in the world at large, schools, vocation, etc.... those kind of records can only harm a child and should be privet.

IMO, usually because they either have a conflict of interest (or other personal reasons) or because the DA is changing charges... or because it is a capital case.

That is good because when he gets the DP we do not need some BS about him not being represented properly.

Yes tx I noticed that today on the court calendar and was disappointed. But I suppose having new atty assigned was partly the reason. The other article explains lawyer from NC Office of the Capital Defender would be assigned to the case as their office handles capital cases for indigent.
