Perhaps I ought to clarify or be more specific, it is according to MD--a family member--that previous DSS investigation was exclusive to or limited solely to the brother. As I said, I've seen other reports to the contrary.

I hope so also. I'm curoius if anyone knows if the person who initially made the report was a mandated reporter... or a private individual or family member. I know that info is secure, but I am curious to know.

You may have misunderstood my post, just to be clear what I am saying is that we have only MD--afaik he appears to be the sole source, actually, of reports-- saying that when AD was previously investigated by DSS there were only issues around older bro and that no concerns had ever been raised re his younger sister Shaniya. I am saying it's only one person's version, not info given by LE nor any official source in the investigation--which IMO is likely LE's reason now for insisting SBI get involved so they can see for themselves exactly what was in fact documented.

It isn't in BL's interest to acknowledge having known of these issues. While other family members--including CDL--admit having concerns re Shaniya and knowing that AD neglected her children, others prefer to deny knowledge and dismiss allegations that there had ever been prior concerns reported to DSS specifically re Shaniya and that those went unheeded and ignored. It would make BL's role reprehensible thus I'm sure he would rather not own up to such a thing. I believe there were concerns raised about her welfare. Why have we heard others saying eg Shaniya 'wasn't even supposed to be there' with AD eg? JMO

Well, this was the "female spokeperson" for LE, of which, I don't give much credit to this spokesperson based on her early comments regarding MAM when they first had the video of MAM carrying Shaniya.

And to add, it was the media who wrote the article indicating the "spokesperson" said "including Shaniya" and we all know the media doesn't always get it right. And perhaps, the media also got the date wrong when Aunt Carey said "she dropped Shaniya off on October 31st and received a phone call stating "Antoinette indicating Aunt Carey would never see Shaniya again."

So I'll go back to the family knowing that DSS ONLY investigated Shaniya's brother. IF DSS did investigate Shaniya during the time DSS investigated Shaniya's brother and mother, then I will most certainly say " I was wrong."

DSS might be thinking they don't know what to do.

That's why I was asking about the reporting. In my experience, if a mandated reporter reports to DSS that they are concerned about a child and/or children in a household, they investigate all the children in the home. If not a mandated reporter....they take their time and do the cursury follow-up.

Is anyone else with me on this?

I went up to the very quiet 2 nd floor and all I could think of was

Sounds like you've decided neither LE, nor reporters, can be believed so choosing instead to place confidence in one family member. Personally I need to wait either for some confirmation (independent of MD or family), or until I'm told differently by LE--a correction, clarification or preferably some sort of update following the SBI investigation. JMO

There was a DSS investigation, the family members confirmed there was a DSS investigation, Brad mentioned he heard something about the DSS investigation but didn't know everything. So YUP, I believe the family members regarding the DSS investigation being for Shaniya's brother under the mother's care.

The reporters have reported stuff in many cases that have yet to be confirmed or ever spoken again. I'll repeat, the media reported about what Aunt Carey "allegedly" said: "I dropped Shaniya off on October 31, 2009, with two days worth of clothes. Antoinette called me on Sunday and told me I wouldn't see Shaniya again."

We all have discussed the October 31st drop off and the phone call from AD to Carey, however, it has never been discussed ever again in the newspapers, on TV etc. :waitasec: Sure makes one wonder if the media got it wrong! :crazy:

Ok pardon me you disbelieve LE spokesperson and reporters lol you're welcome to believe whomever you choose! I'm just not prepared to discount all of the people I would need to (TA, CL, even CDL herself, among others) in order to make this believable. Why wasn't Shaniya supposed to be over there? So for the time being, as I stated, in the absence of any correction, retraction or further clarification by LE, like them, I'm anxiously awaiting the findings of the SBI investigation. Obviously they believe someone has some 'splaining to do--and so do I. JMO

Shaniya was at her mothers for 4-5 weeks which is plenty of time for someone to call DSS and for them to go to the mobile to check out the compliant. Maybe they were there when both of the kids were there. I can't imagine why DSS would be getting checked out if Shaniya wasn't involved as she is the one that is dead.

Another topic is that BL and CDL will not acknowledge knowing much of anything it is not in their interest. I know that too and agree; that is what makes me furious with BOTH of them. IMHO they knew plenty.

As for LE they were not privileged to the information SBI had on record before now, and they are right to look into it.

IMHO it was limited to the brother because he was there full time. SD was there rarely. I imagine who ever called for a DSS inspection may not have even known about Shaniya.
